I'm not sure HOW it's Friday considering that Christmas break JUST started and all :) But seriously - this week has been my FAVORITE! There's nothing better in my world than a week at home with no plans. Slow mornings, lots of pajamas and even more playing.
Last week we celebrated Christmas a second time with some of our FAVORITE McAnallys :)
We always have a great time with Dave's parents, brother and sister-in-law and grandmas (we were so sad Minnie Fae couldn't join us this year!) and this year was no exception.
Gram and Papa Mac are our FAVORITES!
And this Elena guitar and Cinderella dress were Griffin's FAVORITE :)
Last Friday I took down Christmas and ended up cleaning out the attic and deep cleaning #allthethings and it was possibly my FAVORITE day of the week. I was exhausted but it felt SO GOOD! Until next year, ornaments!
I wasn't quite ready to say goodbye to all the twinkle lights so I put up what I think is our FAVORITE mantle of the year...
New Year's Eve was super low key this year - we had plans to head out to dinner and to Vitruvian Park to look at lights but icy roads and freezing temps had us staying home and having a "tournament of games" where we tried to play all the games from our game closet and then we pigged out on a TON of fun frozen foods from Trader Joe's :)
After "dinner" (I put it in quotes because are mozzarella sticks and mini tacos really a meal?!?!?!) we made a floor fort and watched the Lego Ninjago movie.
New Year's Day we decided to start a little master bedroom revamp and this picture is the beginning of the Great Paint Debacle of 2018. And while picking a paint hasn't been my FAVORITE the picture below is :)
A FAVORITE activity this week has been looking through Christmas cards. I leave them out in a basket on the table and we love looking through them throughout the year.
I got a new FAVORITE mug this week... if you read my post HERE then you'll understand why this word is so special to me.
And I grabbed this swaddle blanket for Griffin earlier this month (even though she's well beyond a swaddle) because this prayer is my FAVORITE. I may end up hanging it up for her but for now I love that she snuggles up with it at night.
We've spent our fair share of time at Home Depot this week and I snapped this picture in the parking lot after one of our trips...
... I'm not sure why I love it so much but it was a FAVORITE from the week :)
Today's post was short and sweet because I'm off to play a round of Qwirkle and hopefully fall asleep in a kid's bed after reading a bedtime story :)
Happy Friday, friends!
Your New Years mantle is so pretty! My nieces got some Disney princess nightgowns that I thought were costumes and all of their Christmas pictures are in them. ☺️ So cute!! And that's a cute mug - I used to study Dutch! Difficult language...I gave up when the relations ship ended. 😉

DeleteWe also played a version of Head Banz on New Year's Eve! Such a fun game.

IT's one of our favorites!
DeleteI love your New Year's mantle. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteAndrea your "I'm off for a game of Qwirkle" made me laugh so much. Our family of 5 love a good game so after reading on your Christmas Present recommendations that your family loved this game we bought it for our 8 year old. Well such "discussions" (maybe arguments)have we had about the scoring!!!! Such a brilliant family game which we have had so much fun playing but I'm flying you to our house so you can "referee" the next game!!! :-) xx
ReplyDeleteNYE looked so fun!! Love a low key night
ReplyDeleteIs there a link to that swaddle? So sweet!

DeleteTwo things stick out to me on this post: 1. TJ's frozen snacks - yes, yes, and yes! I swear Man cannot live by bread alone - he needs TJ's too. 2. The awesome paint swatch photo! I'm going to revamp two or three rooms this year and even though I get paid to do that for others - for myself oh man. (Love that blanket too! Frame it.)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Amanda!!! We couldn't live without TJs either :)
DeleteWhat is the name of the furniture the kiddos built a fort with? Thank you! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteIt's called a Nugget :)
Deletevacation weeks are best spent at home! We have spent the week at our 2nd home at the beach and we have walked the beach, watched a ton of football and movies and just enjoyed each other! We hate traveling at holidays!
ReplyDeleteLove that!!! Sounds like a perfect time!
DeleteThere are so many great things in this post that made me smile! And that "dinner" plate of snackie food just made me hungry for all of those things! Sending my husband to the store for weekend goodies now! Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful weekend and a very happy new year to you as well.

Sometimes you just need a dinner of mini tacos and cheese sticks :) hahaha Enjoy your goodies this weekend, Shelbee!
DeleteWhere did you get the swaddle blanket?
ReplyDeleteCan you link to where you got the swaddle? Would LOVE to buy for a gift. It's perfection.

DeleteI just have to tell you that I bought Qwirkle for my 8 year old and my 7 year old nephew because you talked about how much your kids loved it...well both my sister-in-law and I were SO confused the first time we tried to play it! My boys are 11 and 8 and I was trying to hard to get them to understand it before they lost interest...it didn't work (but I think I got it!) but we will try it again soon! Did it take your boys awhile to get it?
ReplyDeleteBrilliant New Year's mantle! Wish I could pin it. I never would've thought to use cone-shaped party hats on the mantle, but you arranged them so artfully -- I'm going to borrow that idea! They're so festive, whimsical and low-priced...something to try any time of the year. Love the multiple garlands too.
ReplyDeleteThe prayer on that swaddle is SO beautiful. Wow. Thanks for sharing.
Griffin is a little beauty. I LOVE the wider carousel shot you took of her last month, where it's angled a bit. Dreamy photo!
I also have to comment on that lovely floral dress on Griffin in this post. Where is it from?
What a fun break!! Trader Joe's has come to my aid many times :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I would have LOVED Griffin's ice cream counter at her age. Ok even now! What a neat toy!
I also love looking through Christmas cards, especially from people I haven't seen in awhile—I'm always amazed by how much kids grow and change over the course of a year! Happy new year to you!

Your mantle & fort - so cozy!! Glad y'all had a low-key week. Those are my favorite too. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that sweet tea sign and your new mantle is gorgeous! We watched Lego Ninjago New Year's Eve too!
ReplyDeleteCould y'all be any cuter?! Love that NY mantle!! That Inspired Chick
ReplyDeleteYay for a week at home to enjoy. We love Trader Joe's frozen foods. I just picked up a whole bunch to have an olympics around the world food party, I can't wait. PS I love your idea of play every game in the closet, what a fun idea.
