Friday Favorites - 100 Days Edition

Happy Friday, Friends!!!

ErikaNarci and I are sharing our FAVORITES today and we so hope you'll join in.  Grab our graphic, link back to one (or all!) of us and share your favorites from the week.

This week has been another busy one - lots going on and lots on of fun!

The 100th day of school was Monday and it was also Mason's week to be "bear of the week" in his class so we got to celebrate with Mustang Bear!  Lots of FAVORITES!

In Luke's class they each got 100 marshmallows, a whole bunch of toothpicks and a set amount of time to make a structure.  When I went to get him he was super pumped to show me what he had made.  Anybody shocked that his held up through all the tests? :)

On Monday, this hot mess express convinced her daddy to take her to Playstreet in the afternoon.  It's her FAVORITE place and I think Dave realized that his days of Mondays with her (or any kid for that matter!) are coming to an end.  It's really the end of an era for him.... since Luke was born he's had Mondays off with Luke, then the boys, then Mason and G (y'all... he used to take two-year-old Mason and GG in an Ergo to get oil changes and shop at Sam's - he's a rockstar) and now just Griffin.  He's LOVED those days and I have a feeling he and G will be making a few trips to pretty much wherever she wants to go over the next couple of months :)

As part of Mason's "bear of the week" duties he had to make a poster with pictures of things that were special and/or important to him.  I laid the supplies out for him, let him pick his photos and then he did the rest.  For real.  I made a few suggestions - which he didn't take - and I'm so glad because his poster is exactly how HE wanted it and I don't think it could be any more perfect :)

Another FAVORITE from the week is this kid getting 70 out of his list of 82 sight words correct during a test at school!!! (excuse the screenshot of my IG story... hahaha).   He's been working so hard (more on that later) and was so proud of himself!

So random - but a gas station really close by our house has a taco restaurant in the back - which sounds shady, but y'all.  IT IS SO GOOD!!!  The ingredients are super fresh and authentic and people come from all over to try them.  These tacos can make grading papers my FAVORITE :)

GG has always been our early riser and this week she's been crawling into our bed around 5 am every day.  She comes in and goes back to sleep and then she and I get in some solid snuggles after I hit snooze on my alarm about 17 times around 6:00.  I mean - getting out of bed is hard enough in the morning, try leaving that sweet face behind!

I get asked often about the plant in our front hall - whether it's real, what kind it is, if it's easy to take care of, etc.  It's a Fiddle Leaf Fig and yes, it's real.  I grabbed it at Home Depot last year and while it wasn't in the best shape I found a great spot for it and it's done really well.

This was it last summer, and when you look at it compared to the lamp now you can see how much it's grown (the top couple of leaves are floppy because they're new-ish).

The key is plenty of sunshine and not overwatering.  Mine has some  brown spots on the leaves right now because someone (aka GG) was eager to help and watering it every day :)  I typically pour about a cup of water on it every 7-10 days and it's good to go.  If you're wanting one (or a few!) for your home you can actually buy them online from Home Depot.  The reviews are awesome so that's encouraging.  I ordered a couple and will let you know how they look when they arrive.

Middle schoolers have been wearing me OUT but then I have a student ask me to pray with them, and then I have a class period where I teach a new concept and get to watch the little light bulbs go off above their heads and flip over a quiz and see this :)  Middle Schoolers are my FAVORITE.

We got out a new puzzle yesterday and are almost done - puzzling (hahaha) is our FAVORITE!!!

I've had several inquiries about the leopard flats I wear often (pictured below) and can't believe I've never shared them before!  You can find them HERE and they're under $30.  I had a pair for YEARS and they had seen better days and after Christmas I decided to check and see if they still carried them and they DID!!!  I got a pair in black and nude as well (they were running an awesome sale) and they are so comfy.  If you're into flats you should definitely check them out!  I also just ordered these flats and will let you know what I think... I love wearing dresses in the Spring and usually wear wedges or clogs, but am in the market for a flat option that doesn't look super casual.

And since we're on the topic of flats :)  These sweet little ballet flats Griffin has been wearing are under $15 HERE and come in lots of colors.

If you're looking for a super easy craft/activity for your kids without a lot of mess or fuss pick up a $0.99 package of poster boards next time you're at the grocery store and let them do their thing!  Sometimes just the large scale makes the normal coloring seem like way more fun. A new package of their FAVORITE markers is just icing on the cake.

Hoping y'all have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend!  I'm hope with a sick kiddo today (well... he was sick yesterday with a random fever so we're home today hanging out) and I'm looking forward to a healthy weekend ;)

Happy Friday, Friends!!!

  7. The best taco spot in our little FL town is a window attached to a mechanic place. Also sounds shady but sooooo good. Honestly those are usually the best places! The best ribs here are served on the side of the road too. Go figure.

  8. Luke's marshmallow contraption is awesome! Love Mason's poster and GG in those flats, adorbs!! Oh and seriously those "shady" places are usually the best, I wouldn't be surprised if that one you mentioned doesn't end up on diners, drive ins and dives!

  10. When I worked in elementary school, I always loved the 100th Day Celebrations. My favorite was a kindergartner that dressed up as a 100 year old man.

  14. What a fun list! Have you ever tried the Me Too flats? (I get mine at Nordstrom.) They go on sale (which is only when I buy them) and they are SUPER comfortable, hold up really well and look polished. (I have the patent nude, and the 2.0 silver flats.)

  15. You are an awesome mama for letting Mason be the master of his own design on his poster!!! My hats off to you😊
Luke's marshmallow/toothpick pyramid is super impressive. You just might have a budding architect on your hands (my husbands and architect😉) Happy Friday Andrea!!!

  16. Luke's structure (and no, I'm not one bit surprised!;), Mason's mastering his sight words and the pic of GG on that scooter (her hair, her top, her flats:) are all my favorites. I bought a fiddle leaf fig at our local Home Depot two weeks ago and I am not good with indoor plants but so far, so good. Happy Weekend, Andrea!
