Friday Favorites - Daddy's Home Edition!

I worked on this post Thursday afternoon/evening, but now it's close to 1:00 a.m. and I can't stop watching the news.  It's incomprehensible and devastating.  Prayers for all of those affected by the senseless violence this week.  Praise Jesus for hope in Him and the knowledge that this world is not our home.

Happy Friday, Friends!!!  As always, Erika, Narci and I are hosting this weeks Friday Favorites!  Grab our graphic, link back to one (or all!) of us and share your favorites from the week.

First up on our list of FAVORITES are hair elastics :)  Random, yes.  But they're a hot commodity and a FAVORITE for sure in our house.  Griffin has a little container of these on her bathroom counter and the kids love wearing them, trading them and sharing them with people who stop by (including the kid who cuts our lawn  and Dave's 94 year old grandmothers. hahaha)

I know that this isn't super exciting, but it's a super sweet memory I don't want to forget :)

This kid and his fun personality are my FAVORITE.  He is goofy and silly and sweet and loving and this picture completely sums him up :)

And apparently Mommy's sunnies are a FAVORITE because everyone wanted a turn...

Dave has been home this week and lots and lots of time with Daddy has made this our FAVORITE week of the summer.   We've been spending lots of time in the pool...

Look at that belly flop happening in the background :)

Throwing herself backwards and flipping under the water is her FAVORITE ;)

These three smiles are my FAVORITE!!!

And rosy pool cheeks and after-swimming braids are another FAVORITE ;)

Putting her bracelets back on. hahahaha

Earlier this week I kept it super comfy for fireworks in black sweats and this adorable top.  My hat is from Junk Gypsy and says "Mama Tried" ;)  I'm excited to pair this top with white linen pants for school.

We've been eating lots of strawberry bars in the pool.  Rough life this kid leads :)  Afternoon pool time treats are our FAVORITE.

This week Luke, Dave and I have been working on lots of puzzles.  Time around our dining room table working on these has been a FAVORITE.  We just started a new 1000 piece puzzle that is TOUGH, but we're having the best time.   I just ordered this puzzle and it's our next project.  Luke hasn't seen it yet, but I think he's going to love it!

We stopped in at one of our FAVORITE places this week - the library!  It had been way too long since we'd been so we stocked up on books for the week.

And Mason got to play on this Nabi tablet. He's OBSESSED!!!  I'm thinking he might need one for Christmas.  See where his hand is on the right of the screen?  Those are markers!!!  Hundreds of colors as you scroll.  So cool!

This girl danced around in the empty playroom. hahaha

Big sunnies are our FAVORITE

We got to spend time last night with some of our FAVORITE people (Dave's Family!) and this boy posing for a picture for his Gram cracked me up :)

Left to right... Aaron and Elizabeth (Elizabeth is Dave's older sister... she and Aaron live in Berkeley, CA), Dave's younger brother Stephen (we're so pumped that he's marrying one of our FAVORITE people EVER in October!) and then on the far right are Dave's mom and dad.

I can't even believe it's time to start thinking about this, but I ran a couple of errands this week and picked up a planner for school at Target.  I couldn't find it online, but teacher friends... it was $10.  Yes, TEN!!!

I strayed from my typical student planner because I LOVED this layout.  Room for each of my 6 class periods (and small group and student governmnet) on a daily basis.  I love that the colored section on the left will let me jot down any important overall things to remember for the day and I also love that I'm not wasting space with Saturday and Sunday.  A lot of teacher planners I've looked at are designed for elementary school teachers, but I felt like this one was great for middle/high.

and it has a great monthly layout as well!  This is a must for me.

And probably my FAVORITE moment from the week... when this guy crashed on the couch and I snuck an hour of snuggles while I read.  Sigh.  I love summer :)

It's been a great week and I can't wait to get to hang out with one of my FAVORITE friends EVER this weekend :)  It's been way too long and I'm so excited to catch up with her and her sweet family.

Happy Friday, Friends!

  5. I was the same way last night - up super late watching the news. I was torn between not wanting to look away and wishing I hadn't heard about it at all. It's so sad and awful.

  7. I DO love your planner but have you tried using planbook online? There's a subscription fee but it's not expensive at all and if a few educators at your school sign up as well, you get a discount. It makes planning and adding standards super quick and easy, you can bump to the next day or extent lessons, create templates for weekly/daily lessons that might reoccur, etc. I love it.

    1. We have to add our lesson plans onto RenWeb (our online gradebook), so my paper planner is what I like to write everything out in and take notes and all of that. I wish I could be totally online, but I just can't do it. :)

  8. I'm a planner nut! That looks like a great one.

Your kids and the hair ties are so cute. They might like Silly Bands (fun-shaped elastic bracelets). They were popular when mine were younger but I think they're still around.

  9. I hope you may share this out, I sent this out on Facebook and my daughters school community page. I am hoping we can shift the change today as parents raising our children in Faith. This morning we are all waking up to another day of violence in our communities. Last night 11 law enforcement officers were ambushed in a planned shooting in Dallas, TX- five of these officers lost their lives and will not get to return home to their families today. These people had chosen a career to protect our own families knowing the risk that they placed themselves in daily. This violence is senseless. It does not undo the hurt of the communities in Baton Rouge or any other, it breeds a culture of hatred and misunderstanding. We personally committed ourselves to raising our daughter in Faith, to be kind, tolerant and compassionate. To stand for good and stand up for those mistreated. As parents we are the source of change, we must start with raising our children with the core values that we are missing in parts of our communities. Today I am asking all of my friends with children to make cards, grab a box of sandwiches and head to your local first responders department, thank them for the sacrifices they make. Kindness begets kindness. Change starts with the smallest ripple, and I think we can make that ripple today. Please share this out and let's make the day happier then the way it started. ‪#‎RaisetheChange
