If you've been following along on Snapchat then you know that a LOT of my time lately has been occupied by paint. ;) The main areas of the house have great neutrals, but we've been switching out the bedrooms and a few other rooms and I've been picking (and re-picking) colors.
When you first walk into the house the living room and foyer are both different neutrals (which were there when we moved in).
The living room is a different neutral than the foyer and up into the game room.
Keep in mind that we're still unpacking! :)
Several of y'all have asked what paint colors our neutral areas are, so here you go! The previous owners painted all the neutrals, so I'm just going off of the touch-up paint they left.
I realize that this paint doesn't help at all. SORRY!!! hahaha
The family room is another great neutral... I think it may be the same as the living room.
The playroom loft is in the upper right hand corner of the picture below.
The family room is a great beige that we're loving so far. Here's the label for all of you who asked....
The dining room is currently painted a rusty red color. Our painter is coming today (eeeek!) and so I've been deciding on the perfect dark olive for this room. So far the winner is La Fonda Dark Olive by Valspar.
(and here's the can of the current red)
To further complicate things I added a couple of other colors last night :) But I'm still thinking the middle color.
The kitchen is making me crazy ;)
Top - Rose Pine by Behr
Second from top - La Fonda Dark Olive
Middle - Behr True Olive (front runner!)
Second from bottom - La Fonda Olive
Bottom - Behr True Olive again
I started off with the two Valspar colors and added a couple more samples last night. Right now the front runner is "True Olive" by Behr.
The cabinets are going to be antiqued white, and I can't wait to see the green up against them.
Upstairs, the kids rooms had lots of fun colors and patterns...
And while the colors were fun, we opted to switch them all out for Light French Gray by Sherwin Williams (we had it color matched into the premium Glidden paint at Home Depot to cover all the colorful paint).
We did the same color in all three kids rooms as well as the jack and jill bathroom upstairs.
I was skeptical about going gray in Griffin's room, but her sheets have gray in them and I wanted a neutral base for all of the fun colors we'll add in with decor and curtains and such.
Our master bedroom is a taupe color and the master bath was a VERY baby blue color. We had that switched out to Washed Olive by Behr last weekend and LOVE it!
It's hard to get it accurately on camera, but it's a really pretty light green that goes well with the paint as well as bedding in the master.
Our office has a similar light green in it that I LOVE! It was here when we moved in and I forgot to take a picture of the can.
We're having so much fun personalizing our home and can't wait to have the rest of the paint wrapped up in the next couple of days. I'm writing this post on Wednesday night and HOPEFULLY by the time you're reading this on Thursday morning my paint samples have dried and I've made a decision on kitchen and dining room paint :) I saw hopefully because the painter is coming today at 11 am!
So, are you a neutral lover or do you prefer bold color in your home? One color throughout or lots of different hues? Do tell!!!
Happy Thursday, friends!!!
My sister in law just had Light French Gray painted throughout her house and in her house it looks so blue. Choosing paint is tough! Hope you've decided on those two rooms!!
ReplyDeleteRight?!?! I feel like it looks totally different in all three kids rooms. Paint is HARD!
DeleteDefinitely a neutral girl here🙋 Everything is looking so awesome, Andrea. Many sweet memories to be made in this house!!!
ReplyDeleteWe're so excited to be in! Thanks, Paige!
DeleteAll the pretty paint! I can't believe how fabulous everything looks after only a week!
ReplyDeleteWell - hardly anything is styled... but it's getting there!
DeleteI do love a good neutral...that being said my living room is navy blue! I love all your green choices;in my mind green is a neutral!
ReplyDeleteOooooh! I'm not a blue person, but I love navy!! And green is TOTALLY a neutral!
DeleteWhen we built our house 3 1/2 yrs ago, the paint STRESSED. ME. OUT. I didn't want to do all beige neutrals, because our house we had just sold was ALLLLL neutral so I wanted something a little different. Our house is a ranch, open floor plan so I went w/ different shades of sage green in our living/dining room & kitchen; our master bedroom & bath are diff shades of olive green; for the main bathroom (kids' bathroom) I wanted to do something fun, so I went w/ a dark teal color...it is SOOOOO pretty, I love it!!!!! Good Luck w/ all your paint colors!!! Paint is one of the hardest decisions, in my opinion :) I love all those green colors, btw. I agree w/ your top runners!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOOOH!!! You know how much I love green! Your house sounds fabulous!!! Going to have ONE last sample made this morning and then the painter starts at 11! EEEK!
DeleteNeutrals with the exception of Tiffany blue...love it!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds pretty!
DeleteCarmel at Our Fifth House just posted about a new way to test paint colors on large, removable sheets. That might help for the areas you aren't sure of. Or maybe painting a section with primer to cover the old color before painting swatches would help.
ReplyDeleteWe have moved and painted many times with the military. I usually choose mostly neutrals. This last time we used a lot of warm grays.
I'll have to check out Carmel's post! Thanks, Tara!
DeleteI love your stairs.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! Coming from a one story my kids are OBSESSED with them! hahaha
DeleteI'm not afraid of color (my son's room has four different colored walls!). I remember spending HOURS choosing paint colors when we moved. Your choices are beautiful! I love, love, love Behr colors so of course I'm loving that Behr green. :) Can't wait to see the finished rooms.
ReplyDeleteFour different colored walls! I want to see that!!!
DeleteWe just bought our first house and started the painting process last night! We are going with a mix of neutrals and color. I love the greens you've got in there, neutrals are nice but rich color brings such personality to a house!
ReplyDeleteI can only take so many neutrals! ;)
DeleteI love neutrals!!! I opted to paint the dining room and our master bed and bath Sherwin Williams Sea Salt cut down to 50% and I really love it. But I would never choose a color for a main room--I'm not bold enough! I'm surprised that I chose to paint the dining room a color!
ReplyDeleteSarah at MeetTheShaneyfelts
I've heard lots of great things about Sea Salt! I bet it's super pretty.
DeleteLove sea salt! I used it in my laundry and guest bathroom.
DeleteLove the gray and all the other colors. You guys are rocking and rolling on the moving in!! Way to go! I think an olive kitchen with white cabinets will look great! Kitchen colors are so hard to choose. You see a ton of neutral/gray kitchens online with white cabinets but I always like a color with them instead.
ReplyDeleteI'm just ready to feel settled, so I'm trying to power through :) And YES to color in the kitchen. I love the look of all white kitchens, but they're just not warm enough for me.
DeleteI love neutrals! and I love grey and taupe. Its what I have used exclusively thru my home after our remodel. I love the kids rooms! Of course they are grey and I love all things painted grey! I used to have all bolds but I think as I have gotten older, I like the consistency of the same color!
ReplyDeleteI agree!!! I used to love tons of color and super bold... but now I appreciate a neutral backdrop a bit more :)
DeleteYour new home is beautiful !! Can't wait to see more updates on decor :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jen! I'm excited to share!
DeleteI'm so excited for you and can't wait to see how it turns out! Any chance you would give us a video tour along with the pictures? You are the most adorable person on camera and it would be SO FUN for us!
ReplyDeleteOh, gosh. I always feel super awkward on camera! hahaha But MAYBE.
DeleteI tried going all neutral. I wanted it to be very pinterest-y. Wellll......I'm painting my powder room pink and my "reading" room/office coral. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteGood for you, girl!!! Go bold!!!
DeleteLook up Sherwin Williams chatroom. It's the perfect greeny gray.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your Sid dickens hung. I have a collection that I've been adding to for years. Have them hung on a black wall in my entry. They are timeless and make such a statement.
I love your style! Neutrals bore me to tears. I read Shay's blog and Erica's blog (love them both) but gosh their houses are so blah, beautiful but blah. I love how you splash color here and there, SO homey and inviting. I just adore you! So happy for you and your family. Your home is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteGreen is my favorite color. I would love to paint the inside of my house green, but then I worry, because the outside of my house is green. Haha! It probably doesn't matter, but I feel like it does. I think you are doing great picking colors. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your kitchen when it's done!
ReplyDeleteI am gray obsessed (and am not alone!) Sherwin Williams has an awesome selection of different hues of beautiful grays!! funny though... now i am starting to refinish furniture pieces in bolder colors (like sapphire blue!) love the post!
ReplyDeleteMost of our home is neutral. Revere pewter in the living room and kitchen and the whole basement. The dining room and foyer are a medium taupe. We have grey in our bedroom as well. I just cant get away from neutrals. In my sons room its grey and navy with a lime stripe in the middle. I still have two rooms to paint, maybe Ill get some color in them......probably not.
ReplyDeleteI had my entire house covered in swatches when I was trying to pick a grey paint! I kept going back to two favorites but one was too light and one seemed too dark..whenever I would try to find one that seemed in the middle it was too lilac, too blue, too green, etc. I finally just combined the two favorites myself until it was a shade I liked, painted a big swatch of it on the wall, loved it and then took that in and had the store color match it. Just a thought if you're still torn and if you have the energy/time to try anything else, that's what worked for me!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your kitchen cabinets! Love the your paint choices.
ReplyDeleteLove, Love, Love La Fonda (Wild West Green). I had that in my last two houses, but went with with one color throughout this time and oh how I miss my green. I've actually been thinking about repainting part of the downstairs with it. Can't wait to see yours. :) AND I hope I find a lantern like your new one at our Home Goods sometime!!!♥♥♥
