Happy Tuesday, Friends! I feel like it's been forever since I did a "life lately" kind of post. So today I"m playing catch up.
Last Wednesday morning Griffin made her way to our bed super early. Like, 4:00 a.m. early. By 5:30 a.m. she'd already been sick multiple times and so I called in to school to stay home with her. I figured I was going to be in for a long day of washing sheets and such, but by 9:30 she was BEGGING me to eat. She knocked back some Kix while coloring AND watching Bubble Guppies.
I absolutely hate that she wasn't feeling good, but the one-on-one time together was awesome.
When Luke got home from school he BEGGED and PLEADED to open some of his birthday presents. He picked out exactly what he wanted for his birthday (some Lego bionicles) and he reeeeeeeeeeally wanted to have them for his party the next day, so I caved :)
You can see how much he cared that there was no wrapping paper. hahaha
He declared it the best day of his life. ;) Despite no wrapping paper.
Bath and a small dinner and this girl was feeling more and more like herself.
Thursday was nuts. Having to unexpectedly take a day off threw my entire week of lesson plans off (teachers, you feel my pain!) and it was Easter party day for both the boys. I stopped in at Mason's egg hunt and this was pretty much his sentiment. #byefelicia :)
Typically class parties are on Fridays and I teach all day on Fridays, so I was so excited that the Easter party in Luke's class was Thursday afternoon during a time I could help. I volunteered to do the craft and had so much fun getting to be in his classroom.
I picked up these gilttery mosaic cross kits at Hobby Lobby and gave the kids a paint pen to write "He Is Risen" on them.
Luke's finished product.
Thursday afternoon Griffin was having some ear pain, and after an exam it looked like she had the beginning of an ear infection. So that was fun news right before Luke's birthday sleepover. hahaha Thankfully it wasn't too bad and we were able to keep a full infection away by flushing her ear with peroxide. She never seemed too uncomfortable and we think that may have been why she wasn't feeling good the day prior. Poor baby girl!
So when we started talking about Luke's birthday party a few months ago Luke decided he wanted to have a sleepover party.... with no frills. I set aside some of my party planning desires and really let him pick out what he wanted to do - and it was awesome ;)
First up he decorated with Legos. That's my boy!
Next up, pizza!
I've decided that there is nothing funnier and more random than little boy dinner table conversations ;)
After pizza, cake and some trampoline time, Dave and my dad loaded up the crew and they headed to Main Event.
Luke looks like he's been crying because he got hit in the eye with a sword right before they left. #boylife
I'm not sure how or why this is happening...
The boys took no pictures at the arcade, mainly because their sole responsibility was to not lose any kids. ;) The boys got back with tons of prizes and tales of tickets and then it was time for popcorn and movies.
The boys were great. They were up LATE talking and giggling and were up early to play, but they had the best time. We ended the party with donuts and then I drove everyone home.
We spent the rest of Friday laying low. Napping, cleaning and recuperating from the craziness that was Thursday.
Saturday morning was chilly and CRAZY windy, so we bundled up and headed to the country club for the annual egg hunt.
She saw the easter bunny as we were walking in and was NOT too happy about it.
Griffin's age group was up first.
She was so cute! She would pick up an egg and then run back to show her brothers before going back to get another. hahaha
#awkwardwave #timesthree
Mason was up next and he and Dave discussed strategy ;)
Last up was Luke's age group. He is waaaaaaaaay over there at the top of the hill.
Griffin wanted to come stand with me, so Dave sent her down the hill to me. She didn't pick up a single egg. hahaha
Checking out the bracelets she got in her eggs...
After egg hunting we attempted a group picture...
YAY for Easter!!!
The boys wanted to see the Easter bunny so we went inside for a picture. Griffin was NOT feeling it ;) The best part of this picture is Dave. hahaha
A stop at the balloon artist for double sided light sabers...
... and it was time to head home!
A trip to the grocery store, SAMs and then Home Depot filled the rest of my morning...
... and when Dave went in to work in the afternoon the kids and I did some yard work out front. While we headed in for a snack break, some of our sweet friends from school egged us!
The kids LOVED it and I loved the sentiment behind the empty egg.
Tomorrow I'll be back with more from Easter and Monday since we had the day off! I hope that y'all had a fantastic time with your family this weekend. I still can't believe Easter has come and gone!
As a teacher, it's always so much work to take off that sometimes I wish I'd have rather stayed at school....sometimes ;) haha! I try to tell my husband what it's like but he just doesn't understand!

I totally agree! If I plan on taking a day it's better, but unplanned days off are so hard to recover from!
DeleteI loved all of the cute pics from the Easter Egg Hunt! Griffin looked so cute in her yellow Wellies!
ReplyDeleteGirl! She loves her some wellies!!! Thanks, friend!
DeleteThe awkward waves times three CRACKED ME UP. And I remember at EL's and Nix's birthday party with the Easter bunny that Carter NEVER left my side!
ReplyDeleteI remember that!!! So funny :)
DeleteLove, love all of these Easter pictures! What a fun weekend!! :)!
ReplyDeleteLove that Luke planned his own party! Sometimes those are just the best !
ReplyDeleteHe knew exactly what he wanted! Wonder who he gets that from :) hahaha
DeleteGlad Griffin is feeling better. As a teacher, I feel your pain on an unexpected day off! The awkward hand wave is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sarah! We joked tonight that it must be a dominant trait :) hahaha
DeleteI "egged" my niece and some of the kids from church. It was fun hearing them talk about it, but not know that I was the one that did it. I loved that it included Jesus and the empty tomb also.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun aunt you are!!! Love that!
DeleteI wish there were more (younger) kids in our neighborhood. Nobody really gets into the egging or spooking for Halloween. A couple houses for sale, so maybe they will be bought by younger families. :) LOL at Griffin double fisting the Crayolas, haha!!!

Y'all should just start egging and spooking :) hahaha And yes! Two crayons are better than one!
Deleteoh sweetie, those sunglasses you have on make you look like an alien or something like that, they are not stylish, I can promise no one is complimenting you and if they are its out of pity
ReplyDeleteOh sweetie! Is trolling blog comments and posting unnecessary and rude things all you have to do on a Tuesday morning? Bless your little heart!
DeleteWhat's a real pity Anonymous is that you haven't personalized the idea of the # 1 thing she learned from her mom growing up (read yesterday's post for some inspiration for yourself). "Number One - She's always encouraged me to be myself and taught me that being myself is "enough"." That's good enough for me and it ought to be something all of us allow ourselves and others to be without feeling the need to make some sort of superficial air of superiority as you have done. Shame on you !
DeleteAmber NY
Well said, Amber NY & thehystericaldistrict!.

Thanks, Amber and Mary! Good news is that I dress for myself and not for Anonymous internet people :) To each their own!
