Pinch Proof

Happy St.Patrick's Day, friends!  Hopefully you're all sporting green and avoiding getting pinched today ;)  In full St.Paddy's Day spirit I'm going to share a few of my favorite green things...

These Boden baggies and green Natives are staples in Mason's wardrobe ;)

If you're looking for a great green polish, THIS ONE is one of the best!

I LOVE my Hunter boots, but I don't love standing in them all day to teach as I find them to be a little bulky to wear from 6:45 am - 5:00 p.m.  I've been on the lookout for a great pair of waterproof boots that will get me from my classroom to the lunchroom and to and from the parking lot (we have an open campus) and when I found the pair below in GREEN (and on sale) I grabbed them.  I'm crossing my fingers for rain!!!

I ordered a full size up from my normal size (I'm usually a 6.5 or 7 and got these in an 8) and love how they fit.  I'm going to have to break them in, but have a feeling I'll be wearing them a lot.

I was on the square yesterday and I popped into a shop and fell in love with this precious fern.  It's the perfect touch of green for inside and I can't wait to get it into a terra cotta pot and into my kitchen window.

Isn't it great?  I have a thing for ferns.

This kimono by GREEN Dragon is getting all the heart eyes from me.  I mean.  It's been sitting in my online shopping cart for days now.

And it wouldn't be a holiday without a festive dessert, so I'm sharing a recipe for...

You'll need...

- 1 and 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs, and another egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
- green food coloring
- 3 and 1/4 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking sode
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 12 oz dark chocolate chips

Step 1) Beat the butter and sugar together...

...about a minute until it's all combined.

Step 2:  Add in 2 whole eggs and 1 extra yolk...

... 1 teaspoon peppermint extract...

... and several drops of green food coloring (until you get the color you want).

Step 3: Beat it all together

Step 4:  In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cream of tartar and kosher salt.

Step 5: Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until it's almost combined.

Step 6: Take about 10 oz of the chocolate (this was one bag for me) and coarsely chop it up.  I just kind of haphazardly chopped until about half was chopped and half was still chips.

Step 7:  Throw the chocolate into the dough and combine.

Step 8: Drop tablespoons of dough onto your cookie sheets.

Step 9: Bake at 350 degrees for 9 minutes

Step 10: Press a few extra chips into the tops of the cookies when they first come out of the oven.  Because, duh.

Come. To. Mama.

Happy St.Patrick's Day, friends!!! See you tomorrow for Friday Favorites!

  12. Love those "out and about" boots by Sorel...I own them too and also had to size a full size up. I live in Canada and they are great from getting from here to there in the snow, they've kept my feet dry and warm (they are not for playing in the snow with the kiddos). I wore them a whole day roaming Toronto. Love your little fam and your blog.
