Show and Tell Tuesday - Winning your heart

Hey, friends! It's Show and Tell Tuesday and today we're sharing how to win your heart.  I tried to think of Valentines related topics and this one seemed fun!

Last year when we shared our love stories I talked about a mission trip to Brazil that Dave and I took together when we were in college and how I got to see Dave do what Dave does best... whatever needed to be done.  He helped with construction, played soccer with the older kids, rocked babies, and held people's heads in his lap while they had their teeth extracted.

Dave is completely selfless and it's that selflessness that wins my heart on a daily basis.

Early on in our marriage we read the book The 5 Love Languages and although we felt like we had a pretty good idea of what each others love languages were, the book confirmed that my love language is acts of service (hence why Dave running to the grocery store twice while I'm making dinner for ingredients I forgot without batting an eye or jumping up to change the dirty diaper before I even notice it make my heart go pitter patter).  I also love me some gifts (which sounds shallow - hahaha, but it's true!) - and not necessarily big, extravagant gifts...  but when Dave comes home from the store with a bag of Milk Maid caramels (for real!) or grabs me a caramel sundae on his way home from work (apparently caramel is my love language) or takes time out of his day to go to Anthropologie to pick up one of my favorite candles I fall in love all over again :)

Dave's love language is words of affirmation, which are easy for me to dish out on the daily since he does so much for me and our family.  We go well together :)

So, there you have it!  What makes my heart go pitter patter!

Excited to hear what makes everyone else tick - and seriously, if you haven't read the 5 love languages, I can't recommend it enough!

The next Show and Tell Tuesday is two weeks from today and we're going to be sharing our favorite finds on Pinterest!  Recipes, crafts, decorating, etc.

Link up below, friends! Happy Tuesday!

  1. Andrea!
I just read your post and thought it was really funny how we both started our post with almost the exact same sentence! I love that book! It's amazing! Have a great Tuesday! :)

    1. It is so good!!! I feel like all engaged couples should read it - it's seriously so helpful! I meant to talk about it but forgot, but thinking about how your spouse doesn't necessarily have the same love language as you is a great reminder as well... sometimes I will get Dave little gifts and he's not nearly as excited about them as I would be and then I have to remember that I'm speaking my love language to him... not speaking his. hahaha

  6. I am an acts of service girl too!! I wonder if that will change when our kids aren't so "hands on needy" - but for now, win my heart by helping out!!

  7. I LOVE your new blog design! The new logo is fantastic, and the background is so pretty. I just made some changes to mine as well, and I'm taking a more minimalist approach, but yours makes me want a background design again!

Also, thank you for reminding me about The Five Love Languages. Someone in our pre-marriage counseling classes (over 8 years ago - LOL) mentioned it and I had forgotten all about it! I think I'm going to snag it from Amazon now!
