Friday Favorites - Open Mic Night Edition

It's Friday! HOORAY!!!  Today is our Parent/Teacher Conference Day so instead of spending the day with me 100+ lovely middle schoolers, I'm spending it with their parents :)

This video of Dave and GG from Tuesday night may be my FAVORITE moment from the week.  She LOVES her daddy so much and they're just the sweetest together. :)

Another FAVORITE time this week was last night when my mom and I took the kids downtown to the square to listen to one of my students play at an open mic night.

We were there a few minutes early, so we parked on the other side of the square and had fun walking around, giggling and looking in store windows.

The way she looks at her brothers is my FAVORITE!

She was disappointed that the stores were closed. #sosad

How cute is this little outfit???  The sweet mama behind LittleSkye sent it to Griffin and it is so cute for Fall!  Extra comfy and perfect with or without the leggings.

So happy to have stairs to climb!

My sunshines!

We got to Spoons right as open mic was starting and GG danced as this gentleman played
"Dock of the bay" and I may have almost teared up... that was the song my dad and I danced to at my wedding.  #sigh

We ate dinner before we came, but dessert was on the menu for sure!

This boy requested mac and cheese with his cupcake.  hahaha

This was my first time to hear Jasmine perform and I was BLOWN AWAY!!!  This sweet girl is fourteen!  FOURTEEN!

Cute girls!

HAHAHAHA

One of our new FAVORITE stores launched their Thanksgiving collection this week and Griffin had the chance to model one of her dresses.  I snapped a few pictures before dinner and they turned out to be some of my FAVORITES :)

We met up with Dave's family this week for his dad's birthday and when we pulled into the parking lot there was a car club that had all parked their cars in the back row all on diagonals.  So Dave did this...

His car may not be as cool as it used to be, but I think he's only gotten cooler :) hahaha
(pic below is pre-kids)

Mason's random "car pose" was cracking us up!!!

This picture is awesome... I think she may have had her picture taken a few times :) hehehe

It has been RIDICULOUSLY hot here and I am beyond ready for Fall clothes.  I picked up this dress last weekend and it's perfect for Fall while still being lightweight.  It's a great chambray that I'll be able to pair with tights this winter and sandals next Spring.

And since we're talking clothes, my FAVORITE hoodie company, Evys Tree, is having a HUGE VIP sale.  Lots of great pieces (like the wrap I'm wearing below) are marked way down and when you purchase , you get a VIP code emailed to you with a discount code you can use for the next release! EEK!!!

This girly-q has been sporting some festive attire this week including this sweet ruffle pants and shirt set that I picked up on Zulily.

I got these pictures of Mason and Miss McKinley yesterday and I DIED laughing!  His silly spirit (and this Pharoh costume) is my FAVORITE!!!

Once a quarter we have a community service day where we take our middle schoolers out into the community to serve in Title 1 schools, animal rescues and other non-profit organizations.  I took a group of kids to Mission Regan - an organization started by friends of ours that provides medical supplies to people in need locally and worldwide.  We sorted supplies, cleaned and took turns doing donuts in an electric wheelchair behind the warehouse :)  Believe it or not, the only one who crashed wheelchair was me. hahaha

Earlier this week some new fall Matilda Jane came in and we had to slip a few things on Griffin.  This collection is AMAZING!!!

I mean!!!

If you've been on the fence about ordering, this week is the week to bite the bullet!  Kat and I are hosting a show and 20% of your order will go to Scottish Rite - an amazing hospital near and dear to Kat's heart that provides amazing, specialized medical care for families who can't afford the treatment needed.

Start making your wishlists and emailing them to katkempson@matildajaneclothing.com !
Also, if you're local and want to see the Fall collection in person, I'll be hosting a show in McKinney on Wednesday... send me an email (dave-and-andrea@hotmail.com) and I'll get you the details!

Last, but certainly not least, the winner of the Freshly Picked giveaway is......

Sarah Macon!!!

Congrats, Sarah!!!  Send me an email today and I'll get you your moccasins.

Happy Friday, Friends!!!   Hope your weekend is filled with lots of your FAVORITES :)

  7. I'm genuinely wondering if you're ever happy with any season? If it's summer you can't wait for fall. If it's 90 you complain that it's too hot and you want it to get cold. When it's cold/icy in the winter you want it to be spring. Live in the moment! Enjoy each day for what it is!

    1. Hey! Living in Dallas is kind of living in extremes... we have CRAZY heat for long periods of time and it wears on you.... then it will ice for a couple of weeks, skip Spring and we'll be back to 95 degrees. (Yes, I'm being sarcastic). I definitely live in the moment with my kids, but it's hard to "embrace" 95 degree weather every day when you have it for 6 months out of the year AND for the last few weeks it's been 20+ degrees warmer than normal and so my patience is running low :) Thanks for reading and have a fantastic weekend!!!

  10. I'm ready to be done with this warm streak too bc it's affecting us in Michigan too. My kids are skiers and they have a ski camp to go to at the end of next month so we need cold cold cold! I would die in 90+ weather half of the year!!

  11. I live in Houston and totally get it on the weather topic!!!! Except we don't even get cold enough for ice/snow! Living in the moment seems to be something your precious family excels at....the weather is secondary!
