Friday Favorites - Comfy Cozy Edition

Before I can even start - I have a PSA - Farmgirl Paints is closing TODAY!!!  5:00 PM EST and her shop will be closed until January!!!  If you've been eyeing a cuff, now is the time!

And how cute is this!?!?!  These ornaments are $24 and would be an adorable teacher gift!  I'm making my list of teacher gifts today!

My mom has been in Canada for over a week - and we miss her TONS!!!  We've been sending lots of pictures including my FAVORITE one of all three of them waving.  Y'all know that they all inherited by awkward wave. ;) hahaha

I didn't do a weekend recap this week, but I had to make sure I didn't leave out her dance outfit from Saturday :)  Leotards are my FAVORITE!

It was really rainy all weekend, and there were lots of puddles for splashing.

She had so much fun splashing the first time, we had to go back out later that afternoon :)

My hat / red wrap / jeans / my boots / GG's boots

Splashing is fun, y'all!

Shirtless Luke came out to check on what was going on and it took him about 4 seconds to dam up the drain pipe and create a "tidal wave" :)

This cool bro in his cool, bro sweatshirt is my FAVORITE.   So is the fact that it's been cool enough to wear a sweatshirt.

Sweet, sweet Kat gave Griffin one of her girls old dress up costumes and she wore it ALL WEEKEND!  Mason was so cute and kept telling her how pretty she looked :)

And when she wanted to sleep in it I was able to snap one of my FAVORITE pics of her :)

Mason had some weird mouth sore thing going on this past weekend and so I had been looking in his mouth with this little flashlight.  Monkey-see, monkey-do is GG's FAVORITE and she wanted to look in her own mouth...

... have us look in her mouth...

... look in Jack's mouth...

... and check in Luke's mouth :)  Crazy girl!

Something that was not my FAVORITE was when our fridge stopped working. BOO!!!  We lived out of a cooler and survived and have a pretty new (and functioning!) fridge now.  Thank goodness!!!

Mason had feet day last week and when these pictures were posted online I spotted my FAVORITE pre-k'er in a few of them :)

This picture creeps me out so much. hahaha

All the feet touching, the toe socks, I can't deal.

It's not cold here yet, but the mornings are cool and I've been keeping it cozy this week.

My very favorite embroidery shop made this vest for me and it is AWESOME!!!  If you want one of your own, send Crystal an email at crystal@shopcrystalfaye.com

This boy's been keeping it cozy too.  His star coat is SO HIM!

This girl got to wear a costume to Miss Lisa's yesterday.  She didn't hate it ;)

Happy Friday Friends!!! Have a spoooooky weekend! :)

Hands on Halloween - Letter Recognition and Math Activity

Halloween is upon us and I have one last Hands on Halloween post for the season.

Mason is working hard on his letter recognition and most of the time I have to trick him into practicing. :)  He loves using Bingo daubers and so I came up with these letter recognition dauber activities that he LOVED!

Concentration face :)  He daubed the G's on the ghost page and the P's on the pumpkin page.

Sister wanted a page of her own and I was happy to oblige!

This would be fun in lots of different ways... a big piece of butcher paper on the floor that you could write letters on, daubing a particular letter in words, etc.  So fun!

Next up is Spooky Math...

I made this little Haunted House graphic and put numbers in the windows.  Then I printed out little ghosts and put math problems on them for Luke and dots for Mason that corresponded with the numbers in the windows.

No surprise that Luke told me his math problems were too easy.

Mason had to count the dots on his ghosts and match them up with the numbers...

... so proud!!! :)

If you're looking for another quick and easy activity this weekend, be sure to check these out (click on the picture to go to the post).

And if you're in charge of a snack for school tomorrow or a party this weekend, here are a few of my favorites from past parties and such.

These are just apple slices with peanut butter and mini marshmallows...

... and this snack mix is always a hit.  Candy corn, Reeses Pieces, jelly orange slices, Whoppers, Cheez-Its, marshmallows and pretzels.

And then the easiest Halloween snack ever - popcorn ghosts!

I hope y'all found something fun to make and that you have a FANTASTIC day! We're excited about PJ day tomorrow at school and a festive weekend!

Recipe Club

I screenshotted this recipe for smoked sausage hash brown casserole a while ago and have been looking forward to trying it out.  My boys love smoked sausage and I had high hopes of it being a big hit.  It also included a homemade cream of chicken soup which I've never made before, but ended up being SO easy!

For the cream of chicken soup
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup water
1 cup whole milk
2 teaspoons chicken bouillon paste
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
Salt and pepper

For the casserole
1 bag of hash browns, defrosted (32-oz)
14 oz smoked sausage, diced (I use turkey sausage)
1 small onion diced
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

I figured I'd give the homemade cream of chicken soup a go and it was actually really easy.  If you decide to use the canned version, add milk to it until you have 2 cups of soup.

First up, I melted the butter over low heat...

... and then put in the flour, whisked it together and let it cook for about a minute.

I stirred in the water and stirred it until there were no more lumps and it thickened.

... and then I stirred in the milk, bouillon paste and seasonings.

I stirred it all together and let it simmer until it thickened a bit. Then I added salt and pepper to taste.

While the soup simmered a bit, I combined the hash browns, cheese, diced sausage and onion into a crock pot that I'd sprayed down with Pam spray.

I poured the soup on top, stirred it all together and cooked the whole thing on high for 3 hours.

It's not pretty, but it's DELICIOUS!  My kids gobbled it up, Dave had seconds and I took some for lunch the next day.  Hearty and filling for Fall and Winter.

Looking forward to browsing through everyone's recipes!  Happy Tuesday, friends!!!
