All About That Bag - Nena and Co Edition

For as long as I can remember I've had a thing for handbags.  Not designer, name brand bags... but unique and "special" bags that hold a ton and make a statement.  Today I'm sharing "All About That Bag" and featuring one of my favorite brands, Nena and Co.  I'll be featuring other brands and bags that I carry all the time and get asked about in the coming weeks.  So exciting!

About a year ago I came across Nena and Co on Instagram and fell in love with their bags.  They're one of a kind, handmade and amazingly unique.  When I visited their website I found out the brand is founded on social responsibility - providing jobs and training for Guatemalan artisans as well as contributing to causes such as providing purified water, granting scholarships and teaching women to birth babies with the aid of birthing kids they put together.

Nena and Co has recently launched a new kids line which has the same mission and purpose as their line of bags and accessories and when they offered to send Griffin a dress I jumped on the chance.

She's wearing this dress in a size 1/2 and it's a piece that she'll have in her closet for years to come.  It's made from recycled denim and while it's big on her now, I love that she'll be able to wear it for several seasons as a dress and then as a top after that.

So, onto what made me fall in love with Nena and Co in the first place... the bags!

First up is my DayBagII.  This has been an amazing everyday bag for me.  The side pockets are great for bottled water (or baby bottles) and the long strap lets you wear it cross body style.

It's large enough to hold my laptop and I've lugged it to and from work, weekend activities and it was my go-to bag in Colorado this summer.

The vintage hupil textile it's made out of is incredible has worn just as well as the rest of the bag.

After I had my DayBagII for a while, she ran a sale and I picked up a Cadiz Tote.

The fabric is super thick and it's structured enough to stand up on it's own.  It can hold a ton of grading, but isn't an unmanageable size either.

My most recent purchase was one of her newer styles, a Lucia Carryall.

It's the slouchiest style I have, and I love how soft and supple the leather is.

The long strap is removable and it's an easy size to carry every day.

I get compliments on these bags every time I carry them and I like how they can make a really simple outfit pop.

Nena and Co has graciously given me a $150 gift card to give to one of you - and to enter all you have to do is head over to my Instagram, follow me, Nena and Co and Nena Kids and tag three friends on my post.

If you're curious about our outfit details you can find them here:
Griffin's boots (they run one size big!) / Griffin's jacket / Griffin's Bow

So, do you own any Nena?  If you do - what style do you love?  If you don't, which style would you pick for yourself?

Happy Tuesday, Friends!

PS - Thank you so much to Nena and Co for gifting the adorable dress for Griffin and for providing the $150 gift card for the giveaway.

  14. I got a Day Bag II finally after swooning over your bag on the blog constantly. I dropped hard hints to the hubby and he came through for my birthday. It is so beautiful and I have people literally stroking it sometimes. ha

  15. I have been eyeing these bags for a while now and just found your post. I am so happy that you posted it because I have been wanting to see how big the bags are in relation to a person holding them. But I do have a question - a few weeks ago I got another hand made bag that I love BUT - horror of horrors - the straps don't stay on my shoulder. It is quite annoying and I am considering returning it (if the shop will let me) because it has been that uncomfortable and frustrating for me. Can you tell me how the straps are on these bags? I am leaning most towards the Lucia Carryall because I want a bag that is good for everyday use but is also big enough to carry a lot of stuff. I also like the Cadiz tote but it looks very large and stiff which might not sit well on my weird slopey shoulders. The Day Bag II is beautiful too but I think it is way too big (at least from what I can see...maybe I'm wrong). I find that sometimes I have issues with bags with double straps so maybe I will have to take that into consideration too. Sorry for the long post but any additional information you can give would be awesome! Especially since these bags are so pricey. I'm definitely willing to pay up for it just want to make sure it is absolutely perfect :) thank you in advane!!

    2. If you are worried about the straps the Day Bag II is not for you. They hand straps are kind of small and cannot fit over your shoulder. Its a hand held bag. There is a larger strap, but its kind of bulky for that. The small sonia carry all might be a good choice though. I own a Day Bag II and a Cadiz Tote. Yes. I own TWO Nena Bags. I cant tell you how much I love both of them, though I do love my tote a little more. It holds my computer and school stuff perfectly and stays on my shoulder. The company as a whole is amazing, with the best customer service and simply amazing quality products. I do recommend checking out the strap lengths and consider how long you like your strap. Anyway around it, I highly recommend getting one.
