Mason Says

Mason has ALWAYS been a fun kid.  He's dramatic, expressive and started talking early with a large vocabulary.  People have giggled at his "big words" coming out of a teeny person (i.e. using words like explosive and compartment at age 3 and using phrases such as "FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!" while popping Kix cereal into his mouth).

I've been compiling a list of "Mason Says" phrases for a couple of months now and thought I'd share some of my favorites.

Ziploc Blanket
While we're getting ready for movie night and pulling pillows and blankets off of their beds and dragging them into the family room.

Mason:  "Mommy, I need you to please get down that one blanket."

Me:  "Which one, baby?"

Mason : "You know... the ziploc blanket!"

Me:  "I'm sorry, what?!?!?!"

Mason:  "The ZIPLOC BLANKET!!!  The one that I lay inside and it zips up???"

Me:  "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh.  Your sleeping bag???? Sure!"

Avocado/Colorado
We were sitting down at the table eating dinner, when Dave asked me if I wanted some avocado.  I'm not sure WHAT was wrong with me, but I told him no thank you, that I didn't want any avocado at the moment and almost instantaneously Mason broke down into inconsolable sobs....

Mason: "But, Mommy!!!  I want you to come with us! You have to come with us!  I'll miss you too much if you don't come!!!"

Me: "What on earth are you talking about???  I'm not going anywhere!  You're not going anywhere!  We're all sitting right here eating dinner!"

Mason: "You said you didn't want any avocado!  And when we go to avocado and stay in the house with bunk beds I want you to come!!!"

Me: "Baby, that's COLORADO, not AVOCADO" ;)

Old
This weekend my dad was over at our house hanging out and he asked Mason how old he thought I was.  Mason's response???  Old and a half.  Yes. He said old and a half.  #sigh

Allergies
There's a student in his class this year who has allergies, and apparently they were at lunch talking about being allergic to things and how we can help our friends who have allergies and such and the teachers were asking the kids what they were allergic to.  Mason's response had me ROLLING...  Broccoli and bedtime.

Shirt Cut
Whenever Mason wants to take a shortcut he'll let you know, but he doesn't say SHORT cut, he says SHIRT cut.  It's seriously the cutest.

Fifty Thousand
Anytime Mason has to quantify something, he uses fifty thousand to do so.  For example, "Last night I had 50,000 dreams about praying mantises and there were 50,000 donuts that they were climbing on and it was 50,000 times awesome"

Pretty
As we were getting ready for church on Sunday Mason complimented me and told me how pretty I looked.  I crouched down and teasingly asked him, "So who's the prettiest girl you know???"

I was waiting for him to reply with MOMMY and plant a big kiss on my, but instead he squinted his eyes a bit, thought about it and goes, "Well, probably Anna Grace.  Or maybe Miss Shay."

I can't blame him... they're pretty girls :) hahaha

Boom Goes the Cannon
I think he picked this up on an episode of Sofia The First, but he will shout, "Boom Goes The Cannon!!!" at the funniest moments.  Like if his brother is getting in trouble, or during an awkward silence or after he successfully zips up his backpack on his own.  The kid has some GREAT timing :)

This age is so fun and I just want to bottle him up!  What funny things have your kids said lately?

PS - I found a few of the dresses I've been talking about on sale!  Check them out by clicking on the picture(s) below!  They're low inventory (especially the red!) so hurry!!!

  5. My kids are too old for me to remember their cute sayings without looking at their baby books. But my 2 1/2 yr old grandson has a couple. At bedtime, he asks me to "sing him a story" - and he doesn't really want me to sing. On a recent camping trip, he turned our fan around to "blow the chilly away." Love their lingo!

  8. So cute, I have my own "Mason", Brandon, he's 16 now. I've kept a notebook of what we call BRANDONISMS. Quick example that still has us dying, (At Bob Evans) Brandon: (to waitress) apple pie please. Waitress: Ala mode? Brandon: No, on a plate please😆.

  12. Boom goes the cannon is probably my favorite...so funny. My (almost) 4 year old uses the word "soaking" to describe something that he needs to place A LOT of emphasis on. We always say, "you're soaking wet"...he now uses soaking for everything: "mom, I'm soaking hungry!" or "mom, I'm soaking cold!"...pretty smart if you ask me :)

  13. Mason reminds me of my son. By the way, mine is allergic to casseroles and has 185,000 of everything. ;)

  14. Hahaha! Mason is quite the character! You should make Mason Says into a monthly series or something :-)

  15. Love "kid-isms" and Mason has some great ones! I always think I need to keep better track of my kids' funny sayings too. I bet Mason would get a kick out of this project a kid did with his dad. It hits pretty close to one of his sayings: https://www.distractify.com/foodnited-states-of-america-1197887317.html

  16. I love the allergy one! My 4 yo always says "constructions" instead of "instructions". I don't have the heart to correct him.

  17. I probably shouldn't have read this at work. I was dying laughing reading all of them. My top two were "fire in the hole!" and the avocado/Colorado ones.

  22. I love these :) esp the allergies one, my son Dominick is allergic to eggs and peanuts and if anyone says the word peanuts he instantly responds with "peanuts are for elephants"

My favorite lately is when he calls his younger brother the party, when I asked him why he told me because "hes cute like a cupcake" <3

  23. SO funny!! He reminds me so much of my William - SO funny....which can be scary, but you just have to laugh at it. I love the ziplock blanket!!

  24. My 4 1/2 nephew got saved a few weeks ago, and in the email that my brother sent telling us of this AWESOME news, he said that my nephew had told him that he "hated his sin" and that it was "ferocious!" He was trying to email at age 2, so ferocious surprised no one :)

  25. Oh my gosh he is the sweetest! Ziplock blanket is my fave haha!

  26. I LOVE these. Thanks for sharing those cute cute kiddos of yours!!
My favorites this month from my kiddos are:
My20 month old little girl walking around with a toy camera telling everyone "SAY JEEEEESSUUSSS" instead of say cheese
and my 4 year old little boy saying out of nowhere (even though my husband was at work at the time) "Mommy sometimes daddy poots and it smells sooooo bad, but we love him anyway"

  27. Can you bottle up some Mason for me? Love his Masonisms and love his dancing too!!!

  28. My second one, who is 5, is very similar in saying the funniest things all the time and half the time I have no idea where he picks up these sayings or words. The latest one that gave me a giggle was when I changed his baby brother's stinky diaper and he commented, "wow, that sure was an epic one!" (it sure was buddy!)

  29. I loved this segment! I my favorite is the "ziplock blanket" too funny!

  30. These are amazing! Boom goes the Cannon and Old and a half are my favorites. I may have to steal them! If something smells bad, my 3yo will say it "stinks her nose". She also will tell you to "shut down your mouth" bc she knows she isn't supposed to say "shut up"

  31. These are amazing! Old and a half is my favorite and accurately describes how I feel most of the time :) If my 3 yo thinks something smells bad, she will say it "stinks her nose". She will also tell you to "shut down your mouth" bc she knows she is not supposed to say "shut up".

  32. We asked our 3 year old who had just spent the day with her nana and auntie "what did nana have to say today" and she responded "nothing really that unusual". What??? She kills me.

  33. My five year old calls cemeteries "rock gardens" and he says "Woody Wet Pecker" instead of Woody Woodpecker :)

  34. So cute! I love to use the app Little Hoots to capture my 3 years olds special sayings. :)

  35. I absolutely love this post! And if you don't mind, I may just borrow the idea ;) Xavier is 3 1/2 and says the funniest things too! Timing is crazy!
Funny story to me - Xavier has no idea I am basically scared of my own shadow. The other night we were laying down for bed and we kept hearing these strange noises. We just recently moved to an old house in the country so I am scared out of my mind when I hear something. That kid suggested every scary thing you could imagine! I have no idea where he came up with the stuff he was saying. He ended by saying it was ghost! My heart was pumping like crazy, and was ready to risk my life for the fam to check things out when we figured it out. It ended up being fireworks at a nearby festival, but it sounded like someone was trying to break in the house.

  36. To go along with Mason's shirt cut....When my son was probably around 4 we were headed somewhere in the car and he said "now are we going to take the short cut or the long cut?" It was hilarious!
