Friday Favorites - Mama Needs a Nap Edition

This week has been a whirlwind, but at the same time it's kind of been the longest week ever.

I worked on Monday and Dave ran errands with all three kids.  Yes... he had the option of sending the boys to school with me and opted to keep them home and hang out.  Just one of the reasons he's my FAVORITE :)  Oh, and he texts me adorable pictures like this...

Monday night was Meet the Teacher and I took close to zero pictures because I was solely focused on not actually melting.  It was 105+ at 5:00 p.m. and the our whole campus is outdoor.  #awesome

I did manage to snap this one of our sweet boy at his first grade desk...

... this one of everyone doing some art in Mason's PreK classroom...

... and this one of the boys not looking at me :)  #momfail  #toohottocare

We made our way back to my classroom so I could get ready to meet my middle schoolers and the kids found my Triscuit stash.  Even at school they eat all the snacks :)  I did my "meet and greet" duties and had the best time. Meet the Teacher is one of my FAVORITE nights of the school year.

Tuesday I wore my new FAVORITE asymmetrical tank under my FAVORITE denim jacket.  Super light and breezy.

Tuesday afternoon I pulled Mason out of ESS to come to my classroom and hopefully take a nap on my couch while I worked.  There's a big age range of kids at ESS and no designated nap time, which is tough on little man.  He watched some Veggie Tales, I sang him a couple of songs and then this happened...

His sweet little sleeping face is my FAVORITE.  Which is why I loved getting this picture from his teacher yesterday...

... being 4 is exhausting.  And apparently so is being 2 because GG drags around her blanket all over the house after school and crashes wherever she fancies. :)

There are several little girls at Miss Lisa's house and she's been spending her days playing with her new besties.  Apparently all that playing wears a girl out!

And when she's at home she plays with her FAVORITE playmate... Jack Bauer!!!
They kiss...

and she cooks for him in her play kitchen and he licks the bowls ;)

And just because his shaggy hair is growing back (and his shagginess is my FAVORITE) here are a couple of gratuitous pictures of Jack Bauer :)

Another teacher at school was throwing away this globe earlier this week and I snagged it before it hit the trash can. I need to add a few pencils or apples in the little mercury glass votive holder to make it a little more obviously "back to school".

I love that the globe is old and worn.  Vintage globes are my FAVORITE kind.

We're still nowhere near Fall around here, but I've been picking up a few fun, casual pieces for Mason since he'll be in uniforms most of the time.  His style is my FAVORITE in that he LOVES patterns, colors and print.  Luke's prefers much more subdued choices (which I don't push), but Mason is whimsical and bold and I eat it up because I know it could change on a dime. hahaha

I picked up this long sleeve plane tee at Nordstrom last week and it's his FAVORITE shirt.  I paired it with these star track pants and Mason was in LOVE.  If you haven't bought Boden before, be assured that the quality is OUTSTANDING!  I do line dry all of it, which helps, but the colors stay vibrant, it doesn't "pill" and my boys wear everything for multiple seasons/years.  How cute is this ensemble going to be paired with his Converse???  Can't wait!

A few weeks ago I wore this dress to Luke's church musical performance and promoted it to FAVORITE dress status.  I loved the fit, weight, flowiness and versatility.

It arrived yesterday in "pimento" and I am so excited about it for Fall!  The color is vibrant, but not super bright and I can't wait to pair it with my riding boots and denim jacket.

My Julep box arrived this week and this polish was my FAVORITE from the picks.  So fun and neutral!

And since we're talking about neutrals, this black crochet trim dress is going to be a new FAVORITE wardrobe staple piece for me.  It's basic, but unique and is a great length for running around with my kids as well as teaching.

I tried to snap a pic before school this morning, but Mason had been "bit by a giant purple spider" so I needed to investigate instead ;)  Turns out there was no purple spider bite.  #shocking

I wore the dress all day, made dinner in it and then headed to a Pre-K parent meeting in it later that evening (it still looked great!).  I had ditched the wedges by that ponit :)

LOVE the crochet detailing!

My apologies if this post has been more scattered than my normal random :)  Getting back into the swing of work and schedules and talking with middle schoolers all day and toddlers at home has me wiped flat out.  I'm looking forward to resting up this weekend and hopefully squeezing in some family time at the pool.

Happy Friday, Friends!!!

  4. Love the pics of sweet little Mason napping, he is just adorable! His personality just shines through in every picture you post. And even though I have never met you I have been worrying about poor Grfiffin going to Miss Lisa's without Mason so I am so happy to hear she has some new besties to keep her occupied. My heart broke over the pic this week of her crying she wanted to go to school with the boys! Thanks for sharing your precious family!

  11. Oh, anonymous. Typically dogs from breeders don't come with mange and fleas and aren't separated from their moms as young as we think he was when we got him. Sorry to burst your bubble! :)

  13. Ok so you have mentioned in the past that you wash and hang dry all of Griffin's MJ pieces and you also mentioned that about Masons Boden items. I have some nice clothes for my girls that I would love to hang dry but my question is when do you find the time to iron all that stuff???? LOL is that a weird question? Maybe its the couch potato in me but i would rather spend time watching Pretty Little Liars, The Bachelor and Netflix than standing at the ironing board if you ya know what i mean?

    1. I don't know if Andrea does this, but right before my clothes are dry (or crunchy if that makes sense), I throw them in the dryer for 5 minutes on low/no heat to finish drying/fluff them and then usually don't have to iron.

    2. I hang dry almost all of my family's clothes (I'm crazy like that) and it seems like as long as I hang them on hangers right out of the washer, the kids clothes aren't bad enough that I have to iron. Or I'm just lazy and let them wear wrinkled clothes. They get wrecked at school anyway lol. I don't have expensive kids clothes either for numerous reasons (one of which may be so I can buy expensive ones for me haha) but I've made $5 children's place tees last a few years by not drying them.

  19. First Andrea, long time follower here. Let me say that I love your blog and look forward to catching up with you everyday. Your children are adorable and your heart for your family, your job and just about everything you do in life shines through - I find your authenticity and outlook refreshing . Now for you Anonymous - what a remarkably asinine thing to say - now please go crawl back under the rock from whence you came. Seriously juvenile and droll. Julie B Belmar NJ

  20. Andrea,
You are such a classy lady. The way you respond to such negative posts always amazes me. I hope we can all learn by your example.

  22. Hey Andrea! I pinned a few things from your posts and today I tried to go back to them and instead of being pinned to the specific post it's taking me to your home page. Do you maybe know why? Thanks!
