Oh, Happy Day

This post is random and wasn't at all what I had planned for today - but yesterday was a great day and I don't want to forget it :)

There was nothing major or super exciting - it was just lots of little happy things :)

Dave was off work today and he and the Littles ran up to school to bring me a Starbucks (woo hoo!) and bring the box tops that Luke forgot this morning.  They always like to take a turn drawing on my smartboard...

And they came right at lunch so we walked down the deck together to bring Luke his box tops.

CHEEEESE! And a choke hold on the side ;)

These two crack me up and getting to see my kiddos during the day makes me SUPER HAPPY!

I mentioned on yesterday that last week was kind of a beating and this week, for the first time in about three weeks, I felt like I was on my a-game :)  Luke wanted to stay at after school care to go to the Tech Lab and since Dave was at home I stayed and worked and managed to get all my make-up work and tests sorted (I've had TONS of kids out sick!), I lesson planned all the way through Spring Break and answered lots of e-mails.

Is there anything better than a clean desk???

I also managed to make copies of notes and homework for ALL SIX of my classes for the rest of the week.  I almost cried.  All the teachers out there should understand how HAPPY I was. hahaha

And speaking of HAPPY - let's just take a look at this stack of graded papers!!!!

Around 5:20, I headed to grab Luke and found him playing soccer with his friends at ESS...

This handsome boy, his dimple, his Oxford shirt and the sunshine made me extra HAPPY!

When we got out to the van, I opened the door and smiled a big ol' grin because Dave vacuumed, windexed and took all the goldfish crackers out of it on Sunday and a clean car makes me HAPPY!!!

We were about to load up and head out when we spotted the Varsity Girls soccer game going on - so we headed down to the field to cheer for "Our Anna Grace" for a few minutes...

I decided today that my mood is GREATLY affected by the weather.  Like a lot.  The summer heat makes me crazy cranky and irritable (because really.... who wants to deal with like 4 months of 100+ degree days) and as much as I love dressing for winter (hello, cute coats!), I hate that my kids feel cooped up and can't play outside.  The weather is freakishly mild right now and today was absolute perfection.  Which made me (can you guess?!?!?!).... happy :)

I think Luke's mood must be weather based as well, because he was GIDDY today.  And he was giving great kisses.... which makes this mama HAPPY!!!

and crazy faces make him HAPPY ;)

We got home and GG was attached to my leg.... which, after being gone all day, was super sweet (not as sweet on a Saturday night when she's been attached to me all day. hahaha).

We got a last-minute Valentine's dress in the mail and who doesn't love some fun mail???

And a little girl who is somewhat cooperative in slipping it on!  I'm going to attempt better pics this week.... fingers crossed!!!  The dress is a 2, so you'll be seeing lots of it next year as well :)

Mouth full of cheez-Its and a Mason canvas photo bomb, but I'll take it!

When we walked in the door, Dave was pulling pasta out of the oven . Yes, girls.  He made dinner.  I texted him directions, and it was literally just stuff we had in the fridge thrown together, but I didn't have to make it - which made it taste extra delicious :)

I kept the happy trend going by slipping on some comfy leggings, my Jade Sophie and my Uggs.  Perfection!!!

Dinner (that I didn't have to make!) with the sliding door open! HAPPY!!!

And how sweet was this picture that Luke drew. hahaha  His bestie Libby is looking ESPECIALLY fab! :)

After dinner we looked through Luke's folder and val-o-grams that he received from his friends...

and Jack Bauer helped me finish some grading (Mason was STILL sitting at the table complaining about finishing his dinner)..

Then, just in case the day hadn't been great enough already - I cleaned out my bag from last week and found a stack of notes that I received from several of my students last week as part of a writing assignment in English where they selected a teacher to write a note of appreciation to.  I had the best time reading through them and they were a great reminder of WHY I do what I do.  Teachers influence can reach WELL beyond the classroom and hearing that from kiddos is a feeling I can't fully describe.  ANNNNNND, what else did I find in my bag??? Amazon gift cards that I had forgotten about! EEEEEK!

So.... see what I mean?!??!! It was too good not to document :)  There are definitely days where I am in a funk.... where I wake up on the wrong side of the bed, snap at Dave for something stupid and head out the door in a "mood".  There are days where my kids aren't cooperative, where dinner is a hot mess and where I feel lacking in my roles as a mom, wife and teacher.  I have lots of balls in the air all the time and so it's not surprising that one (or all!) of them get dropped on occasion, but then there are days like this where I feel like I own the place. hahaha

I hope that your day ROCKS and that it's full of lots and lots of HAPPY!!! ;)

  5. There is just nothing better after a long day of teaching than finding a sweet note from a studnet. I teach 5th grade, so the notes aren't always legible, but still so sweet! Your classroom looks super cute! You should definitely do a little mini tour. Do you feel like you are constantly changing things? My classroom hardly stays the same for an entire week, I just keep finding better homes for things.

    1. Hey! I did a tour back in August that you can see here... http://www.momfessionals.com/2014/08/classroom-tour.html
It stays the same pretty much all the time, although I do move the desks in and out of groups quite often :)

  31. I live in south Florida and I get the hot weather blues! Finally we have had nice weather, but from May-December this year you would sweat just walking from your car into a store. Nice weather is definitely a mood lifter! I regularly read your blog and was praying for you after I read you were having a rough week last week. I'm glad your week started off better this week!

  34. This day was definitely worth a share. I so so love G's new dress and the funny faces pics. Lucky you to have found amazon cards. I love amazon. I just received my order from using my birthday cards up :) I've always thought that it takes a very special person to be a teacher so I'm taking my hat off to you. You seem to love your job and that is very important.
    Amanda.
