Kids Table

Hey, friends!  Today I'm focusing on a question that I get A LOT.  Maybe the most asked question I receive.... "Where did you get your kids table???"  Okay, maybe the second most often after, "Where do you buy Griffin's headbands???" hahaha

I think it's because A LOT of our photos take place at the little table.

Well, here's your answer.... my kids table is from Pottery Barn Kids.  You can find the table (in a different finish) HERE.

It's the farmhouse play table and chairs and we LOVE it!

Here's the deal, we have a real kitchen table :)  And it's in our main "eating area" (what is designed to be the "family room" in our house (built in 1992).  We switched out the ceiling fan for a chandelier and dubbed this our eat-in kitchen with a fireplace.

For a long time, we always ate every meal at the big table...

.... and it drove me NUTS because there was ALWAYS a mess on my carpet, booster seats were annoying and it was just hard to clean.

The little area by the door going out to our backyard had a big "reading chair" in it and at my mom's suggestion (because she's always super smart) we moved the chair next to the fireplace and decided to start looking for a kids table.

We'd done the picnic table thing before, but I really wanted chairs with backs and something that wasn't red and plastic :)

I got on Craigslist and searched "kids table" and this one popped up.  The lady selling it had it listed for something ridiculous like $75 and when I called about it she lowered the price because it had some dents (not even nicks!) in the top.  Needless to say, Dave was at her house to pick it up within about 7 minutes. :)  It had been in her girls playroom and came with two pink and two green chairs - not my favorite - but hey... it worked.

The boys ate lunch (out of ice cube trays) at the table....

... we assemble pasta salad at the little table...

... and we do lots of crafts at the little table as well :)

The table is great for playdates...

... and y'all know it's super fun to decorate for a holiday :)

Fall :)

On most nights, we all sit at the kids table :)  The chairs are super sturdy and since it's the perfect size for the kids, Dave and I sit there with them.  My parents come over often and we all play games at the table.  It's been so nice to not vacuum the carpet under the big table after every meal as a quick sweep under this one suffices.

Like I said earlier, I got mine for a STEAL, but I would totally pay full price for one knowing how great it's been for my kids.  We like it so much, that we just bought two new chairs to go around it since Griffin is phasing out of her high chair :)

It looks like mine is available in limited colors (and the chairs are sold out???), but this option is really cute as well...

And that same table above would be extra cute with these chairs...

... I especially loved the brushed aluminum.

There are definitely less expensive options out there, but knowing how often we're at the table (AT LEAST three times a day for meals and play) I'm glad that we have a sturdier one that we all can sit at.  I have a feeling that we'll have this table for MANY years to come.

I hope this answers your questions - don't hesitate to let me know if you have others!!!

  1. We have two of these tables (I think our version is smaller). We bought the first one and someone was getting rid of the other one and GAVE it to us! Just last week we painted it and converted it to a sewing table for Holden (you'll have to check out last week's FF for the before/after). These tables are worth every penny!!!

  6. Using that space is perfect for the kids' table. If mine were still tiny, I think I would try to use an option like that. We have a formal dining room that is used to hold decorations. I can't even remember the last time we ate there! We all sit at the eat in kitchen area. I love how you decorate the table with the holiday!

    1. Thanks, Heather!!! I think I'm going to make them sit at it until they're well into high school just so I don't have to face that they're growing up :) hahaha

  7. Ellie got a table and chairs for Christmas this year. I was coveting this one but it was out of our price range and the grandparents were getting it for her. They are a bit against Craigslist for some reason. I love the one they picked out and we use it all the time!!

  8. We used a similar type table when our kids were young, loved it! Since you don't like the chair colors, you should just spray paint them another color. Wouldn't take long at all and the finish wears really well.

    1. YAY!!! It's one of their rolo chains... maybe the medium? I used to work at a store on our square that sold the brand and got the chain and my first couple charms there. It's held up AMAZINGLY well for seven years!!! and I wear it ALL THE TIME!
