Weekend WrapUp - Buckle Up Edition

Considering the fact that on a normal weekend I manage to bust out an uber-post about doing pretty much nothing except hang with my kiddos, y'all need to go ahead and BUCKLE UP and brace yourselves for TONS of weekend fun.  Now is the time to grab some caffeine ;)  You've been warned.

Friday morning MCA had a Pajama Day complete with an early morning Pajama Parade.  The school doesn't celebrate Halloween, so this is a fun way for the kiddos to do something special and still kind of "dress up" :)

The different grade levels line the deck and one at a time each class gets to parade down the middle.

Dave, Mason and Griffin came to watch as well.  The littles got to wear costumes to Miss Lisa's house, and G was a "cat" :)

so glad that other people's children are looking at me :)

My favorite pic from the morning ;)
"Thumbs up, mom. You can stop telling me to look and smile now."
hahahahaha

Kitty cat zoning out.  It was early for everyone.

Later in the afternoon I took my 6th period class outside to cheer on the Varsity Volleyball team as they were escorted off campus to go to the playoffs.  So fun!

Friday night was Halloween and the kiddos were AMPED to trick-or-treat.  Last minute I decided to let my crazy frizzy au natural hair do it's thing, throw a witch hat and poncho on and be in costume.  So Dave decided to sport a State Farm polo and a "Jake" nametag and be "Jake from Statefarm".  It should be noted that I had no clue who he was talking about, but Luke could recite the commercial. hahaha

Mason did NOT want to be Spiderman (despite pleading for the costume for months), and instead opted to be "a hamburger with a blue hat".  Request granted.

Luke was the cutest astronaut ever.  Again.

I'm a BIG fan of family themes, which I REALLY wanted to do, but I'm an even bigger fan of letting my kids be exactly what they wanted to be and so this worked out for us this year ;)

Some of our friends were meeting up at our house to trick-or-treat and I couldn't let the opportunity for something fun to pass us by, so we made "witches brew".  I mixed two little containers of orange sherbet with a bottle of 7-up inside a glass bowl.  We put the bowl inside a big punch bowl and then put dry ice and warm water in the big bowl...

Instant witches brew!!!

I think the kids really enjoyed it and my boys are already asking if we can do it every year.
A tradition is born!!!

I'm fairly confident that we had the cutest trick-or-treating crew around!
And as someone on IG pointed out, not a single Princess Elsa!  CRAZY!!

We had the best time walking around in the PERFECT weather girl talking, watching our kids have a BLAST, and stealing candy out of their bags ;)

Several people had fire pits out in their front yard, which I thought was cool and also kind of terrifying.  Lots of little kids in polyester high on sugar and an open flame.  Sounds like a plan. ;)

This house had a SUPER CREEPY hologram thing in the window and we were cracking up as all of our kiddos sat down "criss cross applesauce" to watch it like a movie.  We're pretty sure Bown is scarred for life.

There is a random historical cemetery in the middle of our neighborhood and Andrew took the opportunity to tell an age-appropriate spooky story.  I wasn't paying attention because I was laughing too hard at Rob making creepy noises in the bushes.

GG didn't really trick-or-treat because Nix rode in the wagon with her and pretty much fed her candy the entire time.  #truelove

Trick-or-Treating ended with minimal meltdowns and lots of tired kids, but Uncle Stephen and Cynthia stopped by and we had extra dry ice so we played and ate more candy.

Luke's 9 am soccer game came EARLY Saturday morning, but I sucked it up, threw on a hat, loaded up the littles and picked up my first red cup of the season to help brave the 38 degree (and super windy!) game.

The Lil' Stangs finished the season with a WIN!!!  It was their only win of the season and couldn't have come at a better time.  We ended the season on a major high!  (Luke is the one in the hood "playing defense").

We BUNDLED and had a great time cheering Luke on (and pulling the wagon full of blankets).

Coach Dave and his team ending the season with a prayer. LOVE!!!

So proud of this BIG guy!!!

Luke's teacher, Mrs. Hamilton, came to watch!!!  How awesome is that?!?!?!

Luke and his bestie, Lincoln ;)

Gibi came as well to cheer on her favorite lil' stang ;)

Dave took ONE picture of Luke and I and this is what I got.  Closed eyes, weird posture, hair flyaways, etc.  My method of photo taking (take 50 pics of the exact same thing and pick the best later) and Dave's method (take one single photo, don't look at it, hope for the best) are obviously very different ;)

After the game I hit up Pottery Barn Kids (can't wait to show y'all what I picked up!!!) and the grocery store (#glamorous) and I snapped a bathroom selfie because I was PUMPED about my crazy warm boots.  No worries - outfit post on Wednesday ;)

When I got home Dave was heading to work to run a golf tournament and G and I chowed on some Pumpkin cake.

After G finished lunch we joined the boys in the family room as they wrapped up their picnic.  LOVE those three little heads :)

The boys played outside ALL afternoon and Griffin had a quick wardrobe change after naptime.  PRESH!!!

Saturday night she looked like a full-on toddler and I may have shed a tear or two :)

Sunday morning we woke up sporting matching leopard jammies.  LOVE IT!

We switched out of our matching pjs and into another matching ensemble!  Griffin and her future SIL, Kensington, wore matching MJ to church and could not have looked any sweeter!

And since we're on the topic of sweet, I present you with "Why I have hope for our family pictures next weekend"...

Scratch that.

Everything at our house turns into a wrestling match.  Every.  Thing.

Be still my heart.

Sunday afternoon I spent grading, catching up on e-mails and I snuck out for a bit to do a little shopping...

I'm still kind of in disbelief that it's already November.... so much so that I forgot that today was supposed to be my "What's On... Your Bucket List" post.  No worries!!!  We'll do it tomorrow and share what we'd include on your "bucket list".... get those posts ready!!!  I also have some fun Thanksgiving decorations to share with y'all and a Christmas post to get the Holiday ball rolling!

Happy Monday, Friends!!!

  17. All of it- so fun! Your kiddos are the cutest! You look so pretty in your 9am soccer selfie... I need an eye make-up tutorial! Are you wearing liquid liner & mascara just on the top?

    1. Thanks!!! Your comment cracks me up because I am sooooooooooo not a "makeup girl". It's a liquid liner over some beigey shadow and then mascara only on top. I never wear mascara on the bottom because I feel like I look bizarre :) hahaha
