Friday Fun

Today's post was going to include our entire weekend, but when I started going through pictures I realized that the amount of fun we had deserved two posts :)

Friday morning I was in my second day of Math Department Meetings ALL. DAY. LONG. so Dave packed up the kids, picked up his mom (Gram) and headed to The Perot Museum.

Dave took a week off (his weeks run Wednesday through Tuesday) and we have so enjoyed having him at home.  We decided not to plan a family trip for the summer simply because for us, personally, taking three kids under 6 to the beach or on a road trip didn't sound much like vacation :) hahaha

We have some grand plans and ideas for when they're a bit older, but this summer decided to just focus on what they love to do... because if I'm totally honest they get just as excited about going to the beach club in our neighborhood as they do the real beach.

Dave is SUCH an amazing dad - he works a lot - and if you ask him what his hobbies are he'd say his kids.  Since we both work, he really is just as "involved" as I am with the parenting duties and I couldn't have asked for a better partner to parent with.  Okay - done bragging on him... I'm just not sure he always gets the credit he's due :)

Dave's mom texted me this pic during my meeting and I love everything about it (maybe other than the fact that they took it in the parking garage - hahaha).  I love how big Luke Man looks, Griffin's sweaty, curly, exhausted self and how Mason is "cautiously" holding his sister's hand.

Now that Gram has retired, we're looking forward to seeing lots more of her!

When I got home late Friday afternoon Dave and all three kids were napping.  A morning at the museum will wear a bunch out!

We had planned on heading to the mall for dinner and I had to snap a couple pictures of G looking super cute :)  I'm planning on taking down all my flags and summer decor this week and I'm seriously going to miss these flag pics!

Raise the roof, G!!!

We went to the mall because I wanted to introduce Dave to the glorious "Brisky Business" tacos from Tin Star (which is in our malls food court), and as we were walking in Dave informed me that the last time he remembers being at the mall was when he bought me a watch for Christmas THE FIRST YEAR WE WERE MARRIED!!!!  That means the last time he was at the mall was December of 2005, people! hahaha

The kids each received a Build-A-Bear gift card for their birthdays, so we stopped off and let them do their thing.  It was our first build-a-bear experience and the kids LOVED it!

Mason picked "Spider Bear"...

... and Griffin picked out a horse.

Luke was super excited about his Ninja Turtle (although he was a little miffed when we didn't get the TEN DOLLAR swords that weren't included :)  Seriously!  Those accessories are RIDICULOUS! Can I get an amen??? hahaha)

After we bathed, fluffed and registered our animals it was off to the Lego store (which, by the way, is the HARDEST store to get my kiddos out of!) and Disney store to see the Planes.

We made a quick stop at Hanna Andersson and my kids made quick friends :)  None of my kids understand "stranger danger" and within about 90 seconds Mason was helping the super sweet employee run the cash register.

Griffin sweet talked her way out of the stroller and snuggled all the clerks before we left :)

After she was out of the stroller at Hanna Andersson she kept doing that "arch her back thing" whenever we tried to put her back in, so we let her walk.  I'm pretty sure it took us no less than 30 minutes to get to the car.  It was worth it for the cuteness, though :)

When we got home I attempted a picture of all of them with their animals, and, believe it or not, this was the best of about 20.  #momlife

Luke wanted to color his bear box...

... and Griffin wanted to help (of course!)

We ended the night with a sweet "Gwippin" goodnight kiss :)

Wednesday I'll share about all the fun we had on Saturday at "Camp McAnally!" because....

...tomorrow we're  talking kids rooms!!!

Happy Monday, friends!!!

  1. Ahhhhhh! The perfect Friday friend! That picture of Dave's mom with your kids is so cute! I'm so glad she went to hang out with them :). And yes, I completely agree with two points you made: 1. Dave McAnally is a fabulous father and 2. Those dang Build A Bear accessories are freaking expensive!

    Love you girl!

    1. If Dave was left to his own devices he'd probably STILL be wearing Doc Martens from High School :) He can be super picky - but TOMS passed the test! :)

  8. Super cute pics of your fam, but let's get to what is really important: WHAT DID DAVE THINK ABOUT THE BRISKY BUSINESS TACOS?????????

    1. He's typically not a fan of brisket tacos because he feel the brisket can be dry.... since we know that these are anything BUT that (cue the dripping greasy goodness) he was officially hooked. The cream sauce and potatoes intrigued him - and on the way home he was looking up Tin Star locations... I think it's a good sign :)
