Parade of Lights

A couple of weekends ago we decided to brave the cold and head to Downtown McKinney for the Parade of Lights. It had been about 70 degrees that afternoon, but by 6:00 it was FA-REEZING!
I don't ever realize just how much my mom and I look alike until we take a picture together (and I'm wearing my glasses). And yes, Luke is eating a pimento cheese sandwich while waiting for the parade to start... Me and Luke-Man
The parade starts!
Would you just take a minute and look at how dirty this child's face is... it was really dark outside and he was sitting on my lap, so I couldn't see his face until we got back in the car after the parade. This is the aftermath of a pimento cheese sandwich, bag of Cheetos and a couple of candy canes... a sticky, orange, cheesy mess!
How cute is the kid in the present?!?!?!
MCA's Away in A Manger float was awesome! The little shepherds and angels were TOO cute! I can't wait until Luke gets to be a part of this MCA tradition! :)
Another cute float
Only in Texas...
I think that this may be the classiest thing I have EVER seen... a light-up Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus in the scoop of a tractor. WOW! Nothing says Christmas like that!
And of course, like all good Christmas parades, it was concluded with a Santa drive-by (complete with Dallas Cowboys Santa hat, of course!) Despite being FREEZING, we had a great time. Luke screamed "Merry Christmas" at every float (and horse, tractor and person) that went by and was pretty much in love with the whole experience.

  1. Andrea, looks like fun was had by all. We love visiting Downtown McKinney during Christmas time. We didn't hear about this parade, and will look forward to it next year. Dicken's of a Christmas is fun, also.
