It's My Party

This past Saturday we had Luke's first birthday party - no, his birthday isn't until April 1st, but we really wanted Uncle Mark to get to be a part of the party and so we decided to have it while he was home for Spring Break. With our move in full swing (yes, we're moving - I'm not sure if I've ever updated to that effect, but we did sell our house and buy another one and we're moving out and in next Friday) we were hesitant to host a party at our house and so we ended up having the party at Stonebridge Country Club. It was awesome because cupcake got ground into their carpet instead of mine :) and there were no moving boxes stacked in the corners.
Here's the invitation:
Here are a few pictures of some of the decor - if you haven't caught on already, it was a monkey theme, compete with chimp cupcakes, a banana pudding trifle, chocolate covered bananas and monkey munch (and cherry limeade punch, which has nothing to do with the theme, but was AWESOME!). You'll probably have to click on the picture to enlarge:
Despite taking practically no nap Saturday morning, Luke was in good spirits and (to no one's surprise) ready to dig into his cupcake...
... and dig he did :)
He ate the entire thing and then proceeded to try to eat crumbs off the floor (such a boy!)

Lots of friends and family were able to come and Luke was so blessed with lots of new toys, books and clothes. Thank you all so much!!!

Here are a few random snapshots from the afternoon:
- Olivia Eason and I had some good snuggle time (I'll claim that it's my soothing way with babies, not my seemingly delicious necklace)
- There was a princess tea party going on next door and so the princesses made an appearance at Luke's party to see Lilly (much to the Baller boys chagrin!)
- As you can see from the picture on the bottom left, Luke was WIPED after all the bday action
Overall it was a fantastic first birthday party. We were all a little tired (I was in Houston Thursday and Friday and when I got home Friday night at 8:30 I still had to make all the food), but it is a fantastic memory and was super fun to plan and host. I'm already brainstorming ideas for Luke's next bday party!
