Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends.  Thank GOODNESS it's Friday, y'all - because my people are TIRED! T.I.R.E.D.

Erika Narci and I are all sharing our FAVORITES from the week and if you'd like to join us all you have to do is grab our graphic, link back to one (or all) of us and share your own Friday Favorites post.

Despite my weather app actually mocking me...

... I'm going to go ahead and share some great sweaters I found from Topshop at Nordstrom :)  When sweater weather DOES finally roll around I'll be prepared and in case you're going to be blessed with sweater weather sooner than I am you can start getting ready!  I say this all the time but Nordstrom's customer service really can't be beat and they have such a great selection of style, sizes and price points.

First up is  this super soft camel colored pullover sweater.  It comes in gray and pink as well and while the gray was my first choice I pulled the trigger on this color because I have several gray sweaters and thought that this color would look so pretty with black pants/leggings this Fall.

It's a boxier fit and has a side slit and I loved the wide cuff details.  If I was going to wear it with leggings I'd probably do a longer cami underneath or maybe size up to get a little bit more length.

Next up I ordered  this rust sweater because this color is my JAM!  Again, it was a bit of a boxier fit and a little bit cropped (not crop top AT ALL but definitely not as long as the tunic-y kind of sweaters I wear all the time)

I stuck with my regular size and can't wait until it's socially acceptable to wear this color (and burn my pumpkin candles and make apple spice cupcakes). hahaha

Last up is  this slouchy cardigan.  I. Love. This. Cardi.  It's slouchy and warm and longer (but has side slits) and is the kind of thing I'll wear ALL THE TIME in the winter.

It comes in lots of colors and I love the fit of my regular size.

You can shop all the sweaters above along with a few more that I think are so cute AND the best camo jacket I showed y'all last week in the widget below.

I had great luck with Topshop sweaters last year and am so excited to have found these for the upcoming season!

The first week of school is EXHAUSTING but also so much fun!  Here are a few of my FAVORITE moments from the week...

Braums on the way home after the first day.  Look at all those smiles!!!

Sweet best friends rocking their TCU backpacks (unintentionally, by the way!)...

First day with the besties...

Griffin in our FAVORITE first grade class ;)
(all my kids have had the same teacher - which is why we have a favorite - hahaha)

and my FAVORITE fifth grader let me snap one pic in his class before school on the first day ;)

I assigned one of my FAVORITE first day activities to my classes this week.  Essentially kids get a blank copy of this page and they have to fill it in with 8 numbers that tell the class a few things about them.  It's a great way for me to learn about things that kids do outside of school, find out about family dynamics, etc. and I love seeing them be creative.  When I assign it on the first day I show them mine and that's how I introduce myself to the class (even though my example is now a couple of years old).

I assign it on the first day and then give them almost a whole week to work on it at home and you can download the directions and blank page on  this post.

One of Mason's very FAVORITE parts of summer was having this lightning bolt shaved into his head before he went to camp.  I had lots of questions about it and I shared the pics below on Instagram stories but wanted them to have a place to live permanently for future reference...

While it wasn't my FAVORITE haircut he loved it SO SO SO MUCH and seeing him excited and happy IS my favorite so I dealt with it :)  That said, he's getting it (hopefully) evened out this weekend so it'll be gone for school and I have told him that he can do it again next summer.  Say yes when it doesn't really matter, friends!!!

Last week one of our FAVORITE people picked Griffin up and took her to go see Lion King and go swimming.  It may have been G's FAVORITE day of the summer :)

Last, but not least...

If you need us tonight we'll be on our couch in the game room eating pizza, watching a movie and snuggling.  And if you need us on Saturday we'll be in the pool because I'm not sure we have it in us to do much more than that :)

Happy HAPPY Friday, friends!!!

  1. My son had a whole summer where he got a Pokeball shaved into his head; the barber shop even used some sort of hair paint pens to color it white and red the first day. I've always felt like it's only hair and it's theirs to do with what they will. It grows out really fast anyway!

  12. Okay, I guess I'm out of the loop here. What happened to Mason's glasses? He doesn't seem to wear them anymore. Just curious. I only thought of it because I saw his bestie in the pic with glasses. Anyway, Mason sure was a cutie with them..and he's a cutie without them, too!
