Friday Favorites - End of School Edition

Y'all.... SCHOOL IS OUT!!!!!  I'm going in for a couple of hours this morning to tidy up my classroom and finish packing a few boxes and then I'm officially done until August!  I feel like I could stop this post right there and that would be enough FAVORITE for the week :)

Narci and I are sharing our Friday Favorites and we'd love for you to join us!  Grab  our graphic, link back to one (or both!) of us and enter your link at the bottom of the post.

On Wednesday Mason got to bring a stuffed animal to school and he brought his FAVORITE Beanie Boo.  He was SO EXCITED!!!

The MCA Senior Trip was last week and into this week and this was my FAVORITE picture posted on the school's FB page.  The Seniors praying at the Capital.  Isn't that awesome?!?!

Wednesday night we got to watch our FAVORITE little baseball player and brought Jack Bauer along to the game.

Field Day was earlier this week as well and when Dave stopped by to watch this happened...

So the picture on the right was Luke and his best friend, Lincoln, on field day this year and the picture on the left was on the same date 2 years ago.  Look how big they've gotten!

Mason's FAVORITE part of field day was the parachute... which was always my FAVORITE part as well!

The weather earlier this week as GORGEOUS and my FAVORITE parts of playing out front after school were the snuggles, silly smiles and snacks :)

My FAVORITE sunglasses are only $12! (the wind that day wasn't my FAVORITE) ;)

Mason brought this sweet little memento home and I LOVE it!  My FAVORITE part is the angry eyebrows on his army guy :)

Y'all know fresh flowers are my FAVORITE - these tulips from last week are allllllmost done, but the colors are UNREAL!

At Luke's Award Ceremony yesterday our FAVORITE 2nd grader received the Outstanding Achievement award for Math, Headmaster's Honor Roll and 2nd place overall in the Accelerated Reader program.  We couldn't be prouder of all of his hard work!

Y'all know that Urban Southern is one of my FAVORITE companies and I was so tickled when they sent me their Heritage Saddlebag to review!  It arrived yesterday and I'm already in love!!! I'll share details and more pictures soon - but be ready to see it all the time. ;)

Yesterday while I was at Middle School awards and finishing up some grading, Dave had the boys at a 2nd Grade End of the Year party...

Swimming with lots of their FAVORITE friends!  So fun!

And our very FAVORITE part of the week was heading to the airport last night to welcome home The Slaughters and their newest addition - Britt!

Britt is well loved, y'all!

Mason made the cutest sign - and then he slept all the way to the airport (after swimming all afternoon) - so this was the face I got ;)

I loved watching people smile as they came through the terminal and saw the kids excitedly hold their signs...

A little Pokemon time while we waited...

... And they're HERE!!!

Y'all - Britt could not be more precious!

It was so good to get to hug our friends!!!

I mean!!!

The bonds that the Slaughter and Shull kids share are so sweet and I always love seeing the older kids reunited :)  SO STINKIN' CUTE!!!

I've said it before but I'll reiterate how special and what a blessing it is for our family to get to experience a little bit of the JOY that comes from adoption while "doing life" with our friends.  Watching families step out in faith to follow through with what God's calling them to do and then bring these precious kids into their families is something we feel very blessed to get to witness firsthand.  I absolutely love that my kids get to experience these homecomings and see how awesome God's timing is.

Congratulations, Slaughters!!!

One of my FAVORITE people would have been celebrating her birthday this Sunday.  I miss Manda every day but especially on days like yesterday when she should have been there at the airport with us welcoming home Britt.  If you purchased a Manda Strong shirt this winter (or any time over the past few years!) wear it on Sunday and say a little prayer for her family and for her kids.

I hope y'all have a GREAT weekend!

  6. You know I absolutely love you, and as an adoptive parent I absolutely love adoption... but it's so hard to think of it as God's plan. I can't imagine a God who would plan for a baby to be born to a mother who likely loves that baby like crazy but feels unable to keep that baby, and then I can't imagine God deciding that the mother must place her child in an orphanage, and then I can't imagine God deciding that the best plan for the child is for them to leave the country they were born in and go live with a family on the other side of the world. I thank God every single day for creating my precious children, but I don't think adoption was God's plan for them. I think adoption is a circumstance of the imperfect world that we live in.

  12. I remember the last days of school being some of the very best memories. We even did the parachute too! Now I have a toddler and we don't do school quite yet, but I'm looking forward to him making the same memories, despite everything being so different these days!
