Come On In.... Laundry Rooms!

Hey! I ALMOST forgot about today.... but I'm so glad I didn't!  This is my favorite series (despite missing last month - I promise we'll make it up!) as I'm super nosy and love getting to peek into people's homes :)

Come on in to.... my laundry room!  It's actually more of a laundry "hall" :)
I've mentioned before that our house was built in 1993, and apparently back in 1993 the laundry room wasn't that big of a deal. hahaha

I attempt to do a load of laundry every day, and avoid mountains of laundry on the weekends.  The washing machine stays open all the time and everyone knows that dirty laundry goes directly into the washer.  We don't have baskets in any of the bedrooms - and everything (for the most part) gets washed together on cold and all together.  The basked on the floor was today's clean laundry load... waiting to be folded and put away.

I hang all of the boy's Boden clothes as well as GG's boutique clothes, and they typically hang on this end.... but last night our family photo pics were all there since we didn't get to use them on Saturday.

Our laundry room opens up to our garage, and to give you an idea of how tight the squeeze is... there MAY have been a time where a basket of laundry was behind the door and as I tried to squeeze my pregnant self between the dryer and the half-open door I actually got wedged and had to have Luke crawl between my legs, move the basket and free my giant self :)

My laundry essentials are unstoppables and Dreft stain remover - seriously... this will get ANYTHING out!!!

The laundry room is painted the same color as our hallway and family room and I have a few little pieces of the kids artwork hanging up for fun.  Mason's campfire from "Camp McAnally" this summer...

And a couple of Luke's earliest art creations ;)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE our house.  I love the location.  The yard.  The kitchen.
There are a "few" things I wish we had.... like a playroom and a GIANT laundry room/mud room.
I don't necessarily want to stand in my laundry room and fold laundry (because my current set up of sitting on my bed watching TV while folding is A-OK with me), but I would love a space where we can come in and unload/unpack.  At some point I'll show y'all my garage, which we've kind of made into this type of space - but I'll save that for another day.

IF I had a way of making over my current laundry room, I would want it to look pretty much exactly like this.

Perfection.  The window.  The flooring. The cubbies.  Sigh.
A girl can dream, right? :)

So!  Share your laundry rooms!  I'm excited to see what kind of spaces everyone has!!!

  2. Currently, our new laundry room doesn't have anywhere to hang up clothes. WHAT? HUH? I have a nice big laundry room but no place to hang stuff? I have dreams of painting it, hanging things, and making it a fun space that I don't mind being in. Fingers crossed it actually gets done! :)

  5. My laundry room set up is like yours - on the way to the garage. I would love a bigger space too!

  6. I am so glad to hear about the dreft! I will for sure be picking some up! Our old house had a laundry room just like yours. This house has a bigger one with a utility sink, which I love, but it also houses the furnace and a/c which takes up a ton or space and is just plain ugly!

    1. Our house is older too and the laundry room is pretty big but as with yours it has the A/C and lots of duct work in there and so it can only be so cute and functional!!

  7. I am so tickled because in my little laundry closet I have my spare wire wreath thingy in the same exact spot over my dryer on the right! Does everyone else do that too??

  9. OH that dream laundry room, perfection! I want those cubbies for my kids too, trying to figure out a place that would fit in my house...so far I'm coming up blank. My laundry room is a bit like yours, it in the downstairs bathroom, not ideal.

  11. I am going to be gutting and remodeling our laundry room starting January 6 and I CAN'T WAIT! I don't even have little kids at home anymore but my laundry room is going to be amazing! Built in drawer with an ironing board that folds out and floor to ceiling cabinets to store my vacuum and steamer and brooms! Racks for clothes drying and hanging and new washer and dryer! Ohhhhh and built in hampers and trashcans. Am I sad or what that I am so excited about a laundry room!

  13. Hey! Someone else who washes everything together on cold! I thought I was committing some unpardonable sin by not separating my lights and darks for every load. I do enough loads of laundry as is without having to separate everything out. Glad to know I'm not the only one!
