Hey Friends!!! I feel like yesterday's laundry room tour was kind of sad :) hahaha
I blame myself for not announcing it sooner, so consider this your warning to get ready to LINK UP in December for Christmas decorations!!!
The weather has been NUTS here lately! Literally 76 one day and 40 the next. Last night we had a freeze and this week the high is like 42 degrees. For me, the key to our crazy weather is LAYERS and lots of them!
My Manda Strong tee came in last week and I wore it the next day to Luke's Jog-A-Thon with a mustard cardi from Target and a big chunky scarf.
PSA!!! My chunky scarves are from last year, but THESE scarves that I talked about last week are only $8 at Old Navy right now!!!
We didn't go anywhere on Sunday when everyone else was wearing their shirts, so I wore mine again to school on Monday.
I paired it with some Finn pants by Matilda Jane, the best denim jacket EVER and a whole bunch of bangles from Hippie Chick.
A am a total bracelet-a-holic!!! Also, I just discovered Bogata Blackberry by OPI (which apparently is a really popular shade - why did no one tell me about it?!?!?! hahaha) and I'm LOVING it for Fall.
Saturday, Mason and I had a "date" to the grocery store and I threw on this button down, a GAP puffer and some distressed jeans (with my go-to studs (which are on sale!!) and sequin TOMS, because duh!)
Yesterday was when it turned SUPER cold, so I layered A LOT! This blanket scarf from Tara Lynns kept me warm all day along with my mustard cords, chambray shirt and this puffer vest.
So..... my last outfit is kind of "iffy" for me. I'm not sure I'm 100% sold.... yet. I've been eyeing several faux fur vests over the past couple of weeks, just waiting to find the perfect option and take the plunge. (This option from Target was high on my list). I was going through my closet last night looking for a jacket when I remembered that I actually OWNED a fur vest already! Back in High School and college I worked with the NICEST woman named Kay at a store downtown McKinney. She and I worked together for several years and I loved her dearly. We were a funny pair since she was old enough to be my grandmother :) She grew up in Dallas (like Dallas Dallas.... not McKinney Dallas... hahaha) in a super well off family and one day she showed up at the store with a mink jacket that her dad bought her for her sweet sixteen. Her name is actually embroidered on the inside - so neat! Anyway, she gave it to me because apparently she thought I needed a handmade mink coat and it has hung in my closet for YEARS. The sleeves zipped off of it and I wore it as a vest yesterday. Thoughts???
I'm definitely not a proponent of purchasing fur.... but this one was a gift. And it's vintage. And I'm leaning toward it being kind of fabulous. Maybe???
We can all pretend it's faux, k??? :)
Her spots are almost totally gone and she's feeling GREAT!
Like I mentioned in an earlier post, she really only had a low low low grade fever last Wednesday evening (thank goodness she was only contagious for that teeny amount of time!) - and I am so grateful we lucked out with such a mild case.
Last (promise!) thing... this morning is THE LAST chance to get a free Matilda Jane blanket when you send in a wishlist for $175. If you're wanting to place an order, I've come up with some fun mix and match ideas for orders that would make versatile little wardrobes and qualify you for the blanket! I didn't have time to link to everything individually, but feel free to email me with questions!
The cream layering pieces are sooooooooo versatile! Under both of these dresses will carry them all the way to Spring!
Happy Wednesday, friends!!! Be sure to check back in tomorrow - I have something SUPER FESTIVE up my sleeve for y'all!!!

Look at you and G in your fur! What cuties you both are!! I think it's so fun that you still have that fur piece she gave you so many years ago. That's a real treasure :).
ReplyDeleteMaybe G will wear it one day and tell the story. Okay, now I'm going to go bawl in the corner. :)
DeleteYou always look so cute. Love the fur vest. Vintage is the best!!!

ReplyDeleteOMG - My math teacher heart is FREAKING out a little bit about the double negative :) hahaha THANK YOU!

ReplyDeleteLOVE the fur vests! Totally fabulous on you and Griffin both.
ReplyDeleteI had been wondering how I could match my Manda Strong shirt with something to wear to work and you gave me a good idea! (:
And... I CANNOT wait to get ahold of one of these blankets!
You TOTALLY should rock your #mandastrong shirt at work!
DeleteLove the vest!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, girly!
DeleteBogota Blackberry is my all-time favorite OPI polish. I think I must have purchased 6 bottles of it over the past 15 years. I still get compliments each time I wear it. So happy you found it! It really is perfect for Fall, reddish, but with a hint of purple.
ReplyDeleteI am SUPER late to the party with the polish, but plan on making up for lost time ASAP :)
DeleteThat vest is fabulous!! Love the story behind it
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Marianne!!!
DeleteI have the target vest in the brown color. The only downside is that the back is actually a sweater, not fur. Sometimes I like that, sometimes I don't! I wore mine yesterday too and got lots of compliments plus it kept me super warm! Not as warm as real fur, though. ;)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Target one! I contemplated it - but my heart belongs to one from Altard State :) hahaha
DeleteBest. Vest. Ever!!!! Totally fabulous. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!
DeleteThat vest is sooooo fabulous! And what a great story to go along with it!

DeleteThose ON scarves were only on sale for $8 yesterday...boo BUT I work next to a ON store and went and picked up 5 at lunch to give as gifts and of course keep one for myself!!!
ReplyDeleteI too picked up five scarves when they were on sale. What a great price for gifts! :)
DeleteSigh. I missed the sale!!!! Hate that! Fingers crossed they go on sale again soon!
DeleteThe vest is perfect! The story alone makes it FABULOUS! Rock it, mama!
ReplyDeleteThanks, girly! That's the plan!
DeleteThe vest is perfection! I was gifted my grandmother's full-length fur and I love it!!! It hardly gets cold enough to wear it here and I would never go out and purchase a new one, but the poor thing already gave its life so me not wearing it is just a shame ; )
ReplyDeleteHahaha. You should wear it!!! So fun!
DeleteThat vest is absolutely fabulous! And the story makes it SO special! I just love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! :)
DeleteThe vest is FABULOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! :)
DeleteGlad G is on the mend! :) You both are rockin your fur vests like true fashion divas! Love love love! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much - she's a little trooper!!!
DeleteThat vest is fabulous! Hands down. And I love what you paired it with! I'm looking for a faux fur vest myself, but I'm just not having any luck yet.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your search!!! Altard State has some great ones!
DeleteThe vest is fantastic!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! :)
DeleteThe vest = Perfect! And I think I would be petting myself all day long if I wore a fur vest or fur anything.
ReplyDeleteMason can't keep his hands off of it! hahaha He;s super tactile and was completely amused and intrigued :)
DeleteI love love the vest...I have my Granny's mink coat but wish it were a vest. I may see about having it made that way. I am definately not wearing a full link mink anytime soon or probably ever :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea!!! New life for something you wouldn't wear otherwise!
DeleteLove the vest! It's a keeper!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! :)

ReplyDeletehahaha So true!!! :)
Deletelove the vest and you wear it well. if it were a tad shorter in length it would be fabulous! who cares what others think about it being real fur.
