Luke's Restaurant

This past weekend Luke created his own restaurant under the table. It was called Luke's (and I had a total Gilmore Girls moment) and he served up big bowls of cereal and soup, cups of chocolate milk and whole pizzas.

Valentines Small Group

This Year February was our month to host small group and so I decided to turn it into an impromptu Valentines dinner. I'll have to post a picture of what our family/play room looked like before Christmas, but we've been shuffling things around and what used to be a designated play room has become a new "multi-purpose" space. For our dinner we were able to put the "adult" table in there, but on a regular basis there's usually Luke's tent system or a Thomas Track or something like that.

Kid's table - I still can't believe that we have kids that our big enough to sit at a table on their own :) They were bringing Valentines for each other so I made some last-minute bags...

I also thought that it would be fun to have a little "buffet" for the kids so I made some little tent cards with fun Valentines sayings:

I also had BANANAS over you! - bananas

You're a great CATCH - goldfish crackers

Apple Juice:

You're so sweet - marshmallows

Speaking of sweet, I think Luke and Kensington are pretty sweet :)

All of our silly valentines:

Luke - 3 years, Mason - 10 months, Kensington - 3 years, Smith - 2 years, Nathan - 5 years, Anistyn - 1 year, Jaxson - 3 years, Rawston - 11 months

Picadilly Circus

I came across a deal on Groupon a couple of weeks ago for tickets to the Picadilly Circus that was goint to be in Denton. I thought it would be a fun afternoon for Dave, Luke and I and so last Sunday (February 5th) we arrived at the Diamond T arena to this... It wasn't QUITE what we were expecting (the VIP section of folding chairs kind of say it all am I right?), but Luke was completely enthralled!

We saw motorcycles in the "sphere of death" (becauase THAT was age appropriate - hahaha), crazy roller skaters, a contortionist who shot a bow and arrow with her feet, a clown car that had a taste for alchohol as well as a whole bunch of performing sheep dogs...
After an intermission (where you could have your child's picture taken with a lemur, inside the sphere of death or with a llama), they brought out the big acts... the elephants! It was fairly impressive, but I was more than a little disturbed by the fact that the only thing seperating the VIP section from these HUGE animals was a 6" wall. hahaha

Luke LOVED him some elephants!

The circus lasted almost two hours and Luke fell asleep in the car while jabbering on and on about the "clown car that shot fire". hahaha

Mosaics

A sweet, sweet couple who are members at the Country Club gave Luke these mosaics last year and they are the BEST craft ever!
They have puffy little stickers and are something that really holds Luke's attention and that he can complete on his own.

Shark Attack

There was a shark swimming around our house today and it looked like this... While helping mommy clean up his room, Luke MAY have found a shark costume that one of mommy's co-workers gave her a while back (her little guy had outgrown it)

After immediately donning the costume, he proceeded to announce himself "Shark Sheriff" (he's been Sheriff from the Cars movie for the last week or so), hopped on his tricycle, grabbed his flashlight and off he went. :)
He zoomed around the house like only a shark could (and yes, those are my front porch ferns inside - they've lasted this far, I wasn't about to let last night's temperatures do them in this close to Spring)
The shark took a quick break for a hug...
... and a kiss from his brother :)

He ate lunch in his shark costume, watched Finding Nemo in his shark costume and went to Gibi and Haha's house in full shark attire.

As I'm typing this he's in his PJs, in bed with his shark jacket on over top.
I have a feeling that we may be in for "Shark Week" here at our house, as the novelty of this outfit doesn't seem to be wearing off... P.S. - Is it just me or is his dimple getting even bigger (and cuter!)

"I really like having a brother"

Two Mondays ago, Dave was home with the boys on "Manly Monday" without a car (his car was being repainted) and they decided to walk up to Kroger. This was Mason's very first time to ride in the wagon :)

Since it was daddy day, both boys went in their PJs with sweatshirts thrown on over top :)

When I got home that afternoon and asked Luke how his walk was, he informed me that, "I really like having a brother - he rode in the wagon WITH me!"

Up for a trip down memory lane? Click here for pics of Luke and another little cutie riding in the same wagon :)

Sam's

Apparently, Sams Club brings out my boy's affectionate sides. We sampled yogurt, red velvet cake and chips and they had THE BEST time sitting in the cart together. It's the little things, right???

Lake MCA

The last week in January we had a HUGE rainstorm - flash flooding, etc. MCA is build in a flood plain and so we've had our share of flooding before, but NOTHING that compares to this... The above picture is a view of the football fields and playground from the art room in our Student Life Center. If you attended Luke's windy birthday party last April, it was held on the far right side of the picture. The field house completely flooded out, our trashcans were floating around and you could have canoed across to the baseball field.

The week after, once everything had drained away, kids were finding dead fish out on the middle of the football field - the creek overflowed and all the "life" that was in the creek got washed up as far as our baseball fields. CRAZY!

Play Doh

I found an AWESOME playdoh recipe on Pinterest and Luke and I whipped up a couple of batches a few weekends ago. I had visions of him using the red, sparkly valentines playdoh to create hearts and pretend cookies and stuff like that - and that went down for about 1.5 minutes... After he had cut a few shapes he decided to do something a little more "up his alley"...
He turned the playdoh into a giant "mud pile" that all of his trucks got stuck in... Such a little boy :)
