Weekend Recap

Saturday morning started bright and early for all of us - G's Christmas dance show was at 10 and she had a call time a couple of hours before that so we were up for hair, makeup and a last check of all the things ;)

This show is separate from her weeknight classes - she auditioned back in August and has had Saturday rehearsals for the different numbers on Saturdays (not every one) since then.  SHE LOVES THIS SHOW!

She loves the Saturday rehearsals, the backstage fun, and (obviously) the dance and performance part.  We're so grateful that her studio provides these kinds of opportunities without the huge time commitment of being part of company.

She was in several numbers but my absolute favorite was the "snow" portion of the Nutcracker.  I couldn't get over how old she looked!

It was a sweet morning for sure!

Luke, Mason, and Dave ran a 5k the same morning and she was so excited that they were able to come catch the second half of the show even if they showed up in their running gear ;) The show has always been in the afternoon so when we realized that the 5k (that they signed up for literally in May) was the same day I figured it wouldn't be an issue.  My bad ;)

Y'all know how excited I was about some Winter peonies to put in her flowers!

While G was getting ready the boys were up and at 'em running in the Frosty 5k in Frisco.

This race was extra fun because Luke was a pusher on Team Hoyt and got to be a part of Hannah's race team.  Both boys volunteered with Miracle League flag football this Fall and Luke was matched up with a sweet girl who he pushed during those games.  We were chatting with her mom and he mentioned that he ran XC and she asked if he'd be interested in learning more about Team Hoyt and he was all in.  This was his first race so he wasn't the primary pusher but I have a feeling it won't be his last.

The last highlight of the weekend was our annual trip to see Prestonwood's The Gift of Christmas.

It's an absolutely unreal Christmas show and live nativity that is honestly kind of hard to put into words unless you've experienced it.

They somehow top it year to year and the details, costumes, dancing, music... it's all just unbelievable.

The live nativity portion is incredible and, as Griffin said last night, "now it can be Christmas".

HAPPY Monday and happy LAST full week of school for me!!! Next week is a week of half days and exams and I can hardly believe it but I'm SO READY!
