Weekend Recap: Homecoming Edition

WHAT A WHIRLWIND OF A WEEKEND! Homecoming has been greatly-anticipated over here and I (kind of) can't believe it's come and gone ;)

The fun started on Thursday night when we had our school-wide tailgate event where the high schoolers exchange mums/garters, varsity sports do a little dance thing, cheer performs, the lil' stangs sports teams are announced, etc.

I CAN NOT believe that these kids are juniors!

I was going through pictures and didn't even notice Mason... look by Luke's shoulder ;) I DIE!

So let's talk mums ;) High school kids exchange them with their dates and they're personalized with ribbons and trinkets and all kinds of things for their hobbies, sports, clubs, etc.  The mums and garters typically get progressively larger as they get older.  Luke's date's aunt runs a mum-making business and so, needless to say, their mum/garter were NEXT LEVEL!!!

They were so detailed and personalized and fun!

Mason and his friend Carrington exchanged before everything really got started since she's in cheer and had places to be and things to do ;)

Cheer performed...

.... cross country did their skit...

... there was a line dance at some point and we ended the night with lots of friends.

I can't believe how big they all are.

G's got her mum back in (I think) 2018. A mom of a former student reworked her daughter's middle school mum for teeny G and every year since then we've just added to it.  She'll have it for one more year and then she'll get a big ol' high school mum (which she is already pumped for!)

Friday morning we had a pep rally and then high school has a boys volleyball tournament followed by girls powderpuff football.

There was a HUGE storm anticipated for Friday night and so our homecoming football game got moved to our on-campus field at 2:30 in the afternoon.  I was on ticket scanning duty (for cheer)...

... so my comfy outfit and I headed down to the field...

... it was definitely strange to not have our normal Friday night lights experience for Homecoming but it was fun (and dry!) so we'll take it!

Saturday night was the Homecoming dance and Dave and I had to divide and conquer for pictures.

Mason before he left the house ;) THE CUTEST!!!

They had outdoor photos with one million kids planned BUT then it rained and things got super chaotic. hahaha

LOOK AT HOW MANY CHILDREN ARE ON THOSE STAIRS!

So thankful for Dave and other moms sending me all the pics!

Meanwhile - Luke went to pick up Bailey from a friends house where the girls were all getting ready and then I met up with them and the other parents for pics in a race against the rain.

Both boys had a blast at dinner and the dance and then after parties with friends.

Phew! WHAT A WEEK!

I'm going to be honest - I'm REALLY up in my feels because Luke only has one more Homecoming and I honestly can't believe it like at all.  Savoring these sweet days and when things get crazy (like the 1000 group texts and all the plans and coordinating) trying to remember that it goes by SO FAST!

HAPPY Monday, friends!!!
