Day In The Life - Last Tuesday

If you're not waking up to scheduling texts from your orthodontist office are you even living!?!?! Last Tuesday that is pretty much exactly what woke me up and I decided to just run with it and document a day in the life because I figured it was off to a great start ;) hahaha Honestly though I'm SO GRATEFUL for the option to text with a human being regarding rescheduling which I think we all know is an absolute nightmare.

I was able to get G rescheduled AND get Luke in for an emergency appointment (his permanent retainer broke the night before) all before 6:30 a.m.  BLESS.  I try to check my blog in the morning to make sure everytyhing is up and running and on this day I realized that I'd set the post to auto-publish on the wrong day AND month so I fixed that really quick...

... and then went about my business getting my day started.

I steamed some pants...

... and tried to bring some life back to my hair...

... and then tackled my minimal makeup routine.

IGNORE MY COUNTERTOPS!!!! and instead look at the cute morning visitors I had.

It was Homecoming week and high school had dress up days and Mason was supposed to be dressed as a toddler so he was ready to go in pj pants, a ninja turtles tee and a sippy cup ;)

Our PTF provides a lunch for teachers once a month and this was also happening on this day and I had signed up to bring dessert for high school.  The teachers up there request one cake every time and I'm more than happy to oblige ;) Luke texted me this pic on his way out letting me know that he had secured the goods ;)

Griffin and I left a few minutes later than normal...

... but arrived in time to see a friends dog in the carpool lane ;)

I got to my classroom right at 7:30....

... and snapped this cozy outfit pic...

... before getting a few things ready for my T.A. (bless!!!)....

.... making sure my slides were up and running...

... and grabbing a few copies from the work room. On my way back to my classroom I ran into Mason and a couple of his friends who were looking so cute in their toddler-attire.

Morning announcements were broadcast from my room...

I did an intro and quick review with my Pre-Algebra class before getting them started on their test...

... and once they were started  I sent this text to our family group chat.  YES THAT IS A RAT TAIL. YES IT WAS A CRISIS! hahaha

I love our outdoor campus about 98% of the time and this is part of the 2% I don't love.

I'm in charge of our House games so I needed to place a quick Walmart order for supplies for the next couple of weeks so I got that done...

... and then I graded papers and caught up on a few paperwork-ish kind of things before class ended and we all headed to chapel where I seriously debated whether or not I'm cool enough to pull off 1) the loafer Birks and 2) the loafer Birks with cute socks.  The jury is still out.

After chapel I had my section of Honors Algebra 1 who was ALSO taking a test....

So I was able to grade a bit more, do some planning, reply to emails, etc.

After that block was lunch and it was a super yummy "tailgate" theme provided by parents and PTF. Any lunch that I don't have to think about beforehand is the best kind of lunch.

After lunch I had another section of Pre-Algebra followed by my planning period. Luke has a study hall and he gets to leave campus so I got a Facetime from him at the thrift store wanting my thoughts on some shirts that he was buying for his senior econ fair project (more on this later).

Typically I'll wait for G to get out of cheer and then wrap up some things and head home around 4:15.  On this particular day she had an away football game in Dallas so she was already gone on the bus so I wrapped up around 4:00 - checked my plans for the next day, made sure I took care of my to-do-list, etc.  and then headed out.

HOME and always greeted by my favorite big girl ;)

Opened up some cute mail...

.... worked on my puzzle for a bit...

... and headed out around 4:45 to run a "quick errand" before heading to G's football game.

Listened to "Lessons in Chemistry" on the way.

This is where I'm an idiot.  I needed to run by the Apple store and through "oh! I can do that real quick before I head to the football game" becuase it was kind of in the same general area.  Well..... I should have known better.

I got to The Galleria and ran into Zara on my way to the Apple store...

... I do most of my shopping online so it's highly likely that I'm just out of the loop - but you just throw everything you want into this big bin and it somehow knows what it all is?

I ran over to the apple store to pickup my order...

... and then swung through Nordstrom to make a bathroom break before heading to the football game.  Anyone else a Nordstrom "women's lounge" fan??? hahaha

Made it to the game a few minutes late (again - I should have known better!)...

... and it was worth the trek over there to see this cute face ;)

The weather was GORGEOUS and it was a perfect night for some middle school football.

G and I rolled back in the door around 8:15 and were treated to a thrift haul...

... before I immediately washed my face and changed into comfies (yes... comfies are different than jammies).

Plated up some chicken pot pie for the boys (Costco not homemade before you start thinking I'm some sort of superhuman!)...

... and sat and ate while working on a blog post.

Everyone settled in for homework, dancing with the stars, and general hanging out...

... and I decided to keep working on the spirit jeans I was painting for Griffin.

I painted until about 10:30 which is when the boys have to plug in their phones on our kitchen counter...

... and during that time G went to bed, I helped Mason with some geometry homework...

... and tidied up a bit along the way.

I changed into actual pajamas, poured myself a bowl of wheat chex (chicken pot pie was not calling my name earlier in the evening), and got into bed...

... to watch an episode of Gilmore Girls with Dave before callign it a night.  And yes... that's our linen duvet cover line drying thanks to an unfortunate dog accident the day before.  Good times.

Phew. WHAT A DAY! I know that one day I'll miss days like these and I already love to look back on previous DITL posts and remember how those days were so I never regret documenting days like these.

HAPPY Thursday, friends!!!
