Before I went to Big Bend back in February I tossed in a random ziplock bag of embroidery flosses I had from YEARS ago along with a few safety pins. I taught a few of the girls how to make some super simple bracelets/anklets and they absolutely LOVED IT! Everyone has been making the beaded bracelet but that can be a lot to lug around and isn't super conducive to working on outdoors - embroidery floss bracelets you can do on the go or even get them started at home and then work on them pinned to a backpack, your pantleg, tied onto a water bottle, etc. I grew up making these and it was SO FUN to share with my students.
I showed them the first one in this video because you can whip them up super fast and you can't really mess them up.
I decided to restock a TON of colors before we head to Prude Ranch here in a couple of weeks and I have a bunch of girls wanting to make more bracelets. I bought my supplies from Michaels but this is a great kit from Amazon that has everything you need.
Make sure you put safety pins in your box so that way you can pin your bracelet to a backpack and work on it that way. The video shows it held to a board with washi tape which works well too, but if you're on the go a safety pin works better.
Happy Tuesday and happy crafting!
PS - this kit would be perfect for an Easter basket, a tween girl birthday gift or to stick away for summer.
This is so nostalgic, Andrea! I think I'm gonna teach my girls. :)
