Sunday night Mason and I headed down to Waco so we could watch the XC team compete at State on Monday morning. We left a little later than we thought and had to abandon ship on our plans to grab pizza at a little place in Waco and instead stopped in at a random Popeyes off the highway - hahaha
Mason was JUST as happy ;) A local restaurant is always my "trick" to making the quickest road trip feel like a special little mini-vacay but sometimes those best laid plans don't work out and you end up at a Popeyes.
After a quick stop at HEB for some candy, water and shenanigans...
... we landed at a house in Waco where some friends were waiting for us with dessert and chats ;) We hung out, talked and laughed until close to midnight and then we CRASHED.
We stayed at this house which was on an episode of Fixer Upper and was absolutely DARLING!
I didn't follow Fixer Upper super closely but it was still cool to see the little touches and details that are very much early Magnolia.
Monday morning we were up and at 'em and we opted out of our plans for sit-down breakfast at Magnolia Table for a quick trip to For Keeps which was super close to the house we were in.
I had the breakfast bagel sammy and Mason had the burrito and we both had zero complaints. We joked that we definitely didn't fit in since we didn't have our Bibles, a Macbook and/or a Sendero Cowbay Hat baseball cap ;)
After breakfast we headed over to the course to watch both the girls and boys team run and despite a TON of crazy wind the weather was awesome and the kids all ran great races.
Luke didn't PR this race but finished his season strong and I'm so grateful for the one-on-one time with Mason and getting to watch Luke do something he loves! It's been a great season!
HAPPY Tuesday, friends!!!
Funny, I've followed you for years from Seattle and I'm currently in Waco visiting my brother and SIL for Baylor HOCO.
