When I do Day In The Life posts they always seem to land on days where I have a LOT going on so I thought it might be fun to show you a way more low key Sunday - that ended up being even more low key than I anticipated ;)
I woke up around 7:30 and quickly decided that I could throw some dry shampoo in my hair and call it "good enough" for the day. I spent some time grading papers, going through my calendar for the week and reading a bit and then finally got up and moving around 8:45. We leave for church at 9:00. Not smart, Andrea. Not smart. The time stamp on the pic below is 8:43...
... and this is 8:55. I don't have a lot of talents, but getting ready in a hurry is one. Could I look a whole lot better if I spent a lot more time? I'm sure. Do I care that much? NO. ;)
I threw some chicken in the crockpot on our way out the door (chicken breasts, some chx broth, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper)...
... and stuck a set of grading in my bag for the car ride to church. I try to stay on top of it daily and catch up on Friday before I leave school BUT last week I had a staff meeting after school and then a mentor/mentee meeting and then spent a pretty large chunk of time getting ready for an upcoming MS spirit week I'm in charge of. All that to say... I had a pretty large stack of grading this weekend.
Sunday school....
... followed by church....
... and then home for lunch which is always a "fridge cleanout" at our house. Random leftovers from the week in an "everything must go" kind of mood.
Some of us had leftover sausage potato soup...
... and some of us had leftover pasta.
Dave left for work around 1pm and this is about the time the carbs hit me and those combined with a dull headache I'd been trying to fight off led me to the coveted Sunday afternoon in-the-bed-nap. ;)
I set my phone alarm for 2:30, told the kids they could get on screens after they emptied the dishwasher and put away their laundry and THINGS GOT REAL when I put on a sleep meditation. I have no clue why/how but these 1000% work for me. Not sure if it's the guided breathing or what but These are all less than 20 minutes and I don't think I've ever made it past the 10-minute mark.
My plan was to get up at 2:30 and then get a few things done around the house and wrap up my grading BUT I literally slept until 3:45. Y'ALL!!! THREE FORTY FIVE! Apparently my kids "tried" to wake me up but I have no recollection of that. I'm chalking it up to feeling kind of under the weather last week and maybe not getting the best quality sleep - but I loved every minute of it.
The chicken was well past "done" by the time I got up and I got that pulled out of the crock pot and shredded up really quick before...
... Luke and I headed to a Young Men's Service League meeting in Dallas. I'm on the Young Mens Meeting committee and was tasked with taking some pictures of the meeting (which included a speaker on car maintenance) so we were there from about 4:30 - 5:30...
... and then were home around 6:00 where Luke decided he needed to check all his fluid levels...
... and I finished prepping the enchiladas for dinner and got those in the oven.
Whle Luke and I were gone Mason and G wrapped up some homework including studying for a vocab test...
... and while the enchiladas were baking I decided to get "my chair" in order. hahaha. This is where I'd been sitting and grading and doing #allthethings so I got that tidied up...
... and then it was time for dinner. If you haven't tried this salad kit from Walmart you need to grab it the next time you're there. IT'S SO GOOD!!!
We ate dinner together and then pulled out the leftovers from the weekend (enchiladas Sunday night, meatloaf Saturday night) and the kids packed leftovers up in glass containers to take for lunches.
7:40 was PJ TIME!!!
I used the cleansing balm, then washed with the juju bar and then decided to do the babyfacial...
Followed up my a couple of other recent essentials because my allergies and other germs have been kicking my butt.
I pulled out alllll my school papers to get everyone's grades entered into my online gradebook...
... which took a hot minutes and then I washed off the babyfacial and put on all my lotions and potions and got back in bed to write this post and then read ;)
Some days I'm super productive and other days I accidentally take a 3-hr nap!
HAPPY Monday, friends!!!
WOW- a power nap like a boss. Allergies are killing me too! I hate that teachers have so much to do on their days off. Thanks for that. Okay- you know everyone will ask, but what app or whatever is that where you find the sleepy meditations? :) Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSunday afternoon naps are THE BEST!!
ReplyDeleteI am so so intrigued by the sleep meditation. Also, our YMSL meeting was also on cars yesterday and I was tasked with "tires". Andrew Shull found it quite humorous that I was in any way the authority of anything tire related. To be fair, he did have to write my script for me. Bahahaha!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a productive day. Teachers need Sunday naps. Glad you got one in!
ReplyDeleteCan you share your enchilada recipe? those look delicious!!
