The week before last I took a bunch of pictures on a Monday and am just now getting around to sharing the details for a day in the life!
I was up at 6:30 and was tasked with getting this whole situation under control...
6:50 am I was getting there...
... had a quick visit from Luke before he headed out...
... and was fully ready by right around 7:00 a.m.
The kids are pretty much self-sufficient in the mornings with a few gentle proddings and reminders from Dave ;) We pack lunches, bags, etc. at night so the mornings are as simple and pared down as possible.
7:09 we're loaded up and ready to go. Dave leaves after we do so he feeds the dogs, walks everyone and does all the morning stuff after we leave (and on this Monday he was off work altogether!)
It took a little longer than normal to get to school and I was definitely cutting things close on this particular morning. This is the main reason I try to leave my classroom completely ready every afternoon - copies made, things laid out, etc.
Watered my flowers, got the twinkle lights going...
... and then it was time for my first period class. I had made a video from our "house sorting" ceremony the Friday before so I was letting them watch that at the start of the period...
... complete with a fire drill.
After Math 7 we had an extended passing period so I ran some copies...
... and scarfed down a pb&j which is my FAVORITE in the mornings.
I refilled my tea kettle on my way back to class...
After a section of Pre-Algebra it was time for Honors Algebra 1 where I was letting the kids walk the class through a few review problems. That's Mason up there taking his turn ;)
My 5th period class was Math 7 where we were finishing up our decimal operations review...
... and then it was time for lunch. I brought leftover Swedish meatballs...
and I warmed them up and then headed to the lunch room to eat with friends and help with duty.
After lunch I taught one more Pre-Algebra class and then pretty much sat here like this for about 15 minutes trying to rally the strength to do anything productive ;)
I was fueled by greens...
... and a frozen Reeses pumpkin.
I watered my flowers...
... got a few scavenger hunt clues stapled up around the room for the next day...
... and before I knew it these two were out of cheer and XC practice.
We hung out at school until about 3:45 and then headed home. Dave had been off this day but we still took the dogs out...
... and then I prepped some taco meat I was bringing for a teacher luncheon on Tuesday...
I was out of parent night by about 7:45....
... and came home to this snuggly scene.
I got "unready"....
... had some air fryer chicken and caesar salad...
... and then got into bed with this guy to do a little quiet time and make sure my blog was good to go.
I wrapped up my night around 10:00 with some reading and a bowl of Cap'n Crunch ;)
And there you go! A day in the life of the first full week of school ;)
HAPPY Wednesday, friends!
Looks like a full, productive day! The beginning of the school year is always so chaotic and busy. I'm ready for a slow down.
ReplyDeleteAs a 32 year veteran teacher, now retired, I remember those first days all too well. You need the strength of Hercules! Hope you had a restful weekend and a great school year!
