PNW Trip: Waterfall, rose ardens and heading home ;)

On our last day in WA we loaded up....

... and drove about 20 minutes to Rocky Brook Falls.  The "hike" to the falls was less than 5 minutes and more of a walk than a hike and it was seriously the most gorgeous 5 minutes.

Creek water is my love language ;) hahaha

It was STUNNING!!!

Is there anything better than hearing the falls as you get closer and then finally seeing it?!?!

If you get to the trailhead and are confused it's the trail on the right (right by the black truck) - it wasn't super clear when we got there so if you go hopefully this saves you a few minutes of wondering ;)

After the falls we drove to Tacoma and happened upon Cerello's Pizza and we all said it may have been the best meal of our trip.  So random but seriously SO SO SO GOOD!!!

Fully-carbed up we headed to Point Defiance Park and drove the loop...

... and then stopped in at the rose gardens.  My kids were not excited about this - but I had my moment with the flowers and they survived ;) hahahaha

CAN YOU EVEN?!?!?!

I wish I could adequately express how amazing it smelled!

Then we had to take and send this pic to my mom because she LOVES a hosta and #TexasCouldNEVER

We had some time so we, honestly, just kind of walked around and we landed at the Tacoma Chutes and Ladders...

Which was such a cool idea and Mason and G both did it a couple of times ;)

After that we headed back to the rental car return (no, we still weren't over the views)...

.... and then to the airport where we had several delays, the most chaotic boarding experience of all time and an almost-cancellation.

Mason and G hadn't ever been on a night flight so they all thought was pretty cool...

... and we were SO GRATEFUL to pull back in at home a little after 2 a.m.

WHEW!!! What a trip!  I honestly can't recommend the Pacific Northwest enough.  We had such a great time as a family and enjoyed every stop along the way.  If you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments!

  1. I was HOPING you'd make it to Rocky Brook! That rose garden looks so amazing. I'm so glad you did a trip to Washington. Such a beautiful state.

  2. It seriously looks so amazing! I love the way you travel with your family. For our fall break last year, we basically repeated (in reverse order!) your California trip. Now I am trying to think when we can do this one. LOL! And the flight travel this year has been AWFUL; sorry it was chaotic for you, too
