California Trip - Part 1

Happy Thursday, friends!!!  We're wrapping up a week in California and I can't believe the trip is already here!  When we started talking about where we wanted to go we knew we picked San Diego because we wanted to see the Pacific and there was a TON to do in the area.  The temperate weather was the what sealed the deal - we are always looking for a way to escape the Texas summer heat!

We decided that since we were headed out that way we should probably check out Disney World too and so we opted to tack on a couple of days at the beginning of our trip to do that.  Our plan was to fly into LAX, drive down to San Diego and then fly out of San Diego but we had some hiccups with flights and the rental car and so we opted just to fly in and out of San Diego and drive up to Anaheim and back.

Our flight was early afternoon and we got to the airport in time to have some Chick-Fil-A and hang for a little bit.

And then we were off!

Dave and I were cracking up because G pulled a sleep mask out of her little backpack mid-flight ;) hahaha

We arrived in San Diego and were immediately met by palm trees and a cool breeze - we're not in Texas anymore! ;)

The airport was super easy to navigate and we were able to grab our bag (we only checked one) and found our rental car super quickly.

The drive to Anaheim was kind of a nightmare.... it took us over 3 hours.... Texas traffic is NOTHING! We tried to make a detour to see the ocean but realized quickly it was a bad idea and rerouted back to our original route.

We got to Anaheim around 8:30 (which felt like 10:30 - ugh!), checked into our hotel, got settled a bit and then walked down the street to Panera to grab some dinner since we were all WIPED!  We stayed at the Howard Johnson Anaheim and it was great for us - within walking distance to the park, clean, large room, etc.  We were in bed around 11:00 pm to rest up for our big day at Disneyland - details to come!
