Christmas PJ Quilt

Back in the winter I was cleaning out closets and getting organized and decided to bite the bullet and find someone to make a quilt with the kids Christmas pjs I'd been saving.  I didn't start saving pjs with any intention other than passing them along from kid to kid and there are lots of pairs that I donated, passed along to friends, etc. before I had the idea of making a quilt but I still had quite the stash.  

I got a recommendation from a friend and reached out to Anne and got the ball rolling by meeting with her, dropping off my bin and talking about what I wanted.

Over the past few months she'd text me pics and updates and we worked through some "design choices" that ultimately I left up to her since she's the expert ;)

One of my FAVORITe parts is that she preserved some of the details from the pjs - buttons, pockets, etc.

I dropped my bin off with her in March and picked up my finished quilt this past weekend and YOU GUYS!  It is EVERYTHING!!!

The back of the quilt is one of the flat sheets from Luke's old Christmas sheets - and I'm so happy because I LOVE THESE SHEETS!!!

Anne even surprised me with some pillow covers!

And somehow I still have all of these left...

So to answer a couple of questions....

- I did not use the same company who made  our t-shirt quilts.  Project Repat is GREAT with t-shirts but these pjs were smaller sizes, different materials and, honestly, a bit more special.  They don't "quilt" those blankets and I wanted something a little higher quality and more personalized for these pieces.

- Yes... it was expensive.  The price is reflective of the amount of work and craftsmanship put into it and I feel like I paid a fair price but it's definitely significantly more expensive than using a company like I used for the t-shirt blankets.  I also had a lot of pajamas to use and it ended up making a BIG quilt so that was part of it as well.

- I used a local quilter and she was AWESOME!  If you're local and would like her info send me an email (momfessionals@gmail.com) and I'll get you her number.  

I love it SO MUCH and know that it's something special we'll keep and love forever.  Anne did such a wonderful job that I'm going to start pulling out the personalized shirts I have of G's from when she was little as well as some of her special Matilda Jane pieces I kept and see if Anne can make something similar for her using those.
