Back-To-School SURPRISE BAGS with Walmart ;)

I know that lots of us are putting off thinking about heading back to school because nobody really knows what that's going to look like BUT ready or not school WILL be happening in some form or another.  Whether that ends up being in-person, online or a mixture of the two making it a fun and positive experience for our kids is a top priority as moms.

When  Walmart asked me if I'd like to share some back-to-school finds for kids I knew exactly how I wanted to do that... by putting together some backpacks full of clothes, shoes and accessories that would hopefully put a smile on a few kids faces as they start school this Fall - however that looks!

We've been volunteering with the McKinney Little Free Pantry since the Spring and love their "take what you need, leave what you can" motto.  Pantry locations are set up all over McKinney and Melissa and people can come 24/7 and take what they need for themselves and their families.  The pantries are stocked multiple times a week by community donations and in uncertain times the certainty of there being food, toiletries pet food and even clothing, backpacks, jackets, etc. is a blessing to many.

I masked up and headed to my local  Walmart to shop and, as always, was blown away by the selection and prices.  My own kids wear uniforms (convenient but way less fun!) and I had the best time picking out clothes, backpacks and shoes that I thought would put a smile on kids (and moms!) faces as school starts up next month.

I absolutely ADORE  these sweet little dresses and was so sad when Griffin outgrew this style.  Y'all.  They're $5 each!  They wash great, hold up forever and Griffin wore hers long after she outgrew the 5T size as tops with jeggings.

Obsessed with  the llama backpack and  tutu dress!  Such a sweet little outfit for a first day of school pic.

As much as I love little girl clothes I'm also such a sucker for a cute boy tee/khaki short combo.

I LOVE  the contrasting pocket on the tee and  the polo is made out of a really soft almost athletic material.   The shoes are pull-on and my kids FAVORITE style when they were younger.

I grabbed the items below in Griffin's size and when I brought everything home I was happy to say that she completely approved and specifically asked if we could go back and get her one of  the rainbow tees :)

The mermaid print backpack is under $3 and  the little pull on shorts and  glitter headbands are little girl perfection.

I grabbed these three dresses in a 5T, perfect for a sweet little kindergartener.  They'd look SO CUTE with little tennis shoes (more on those in a bit!) and will be cool and comfy for those first few months of school.

The next pic is probably the one I'm most excited about.  I LOVE  a raglan tee and these are SO SOFT and cute!  I couldn't find the adventure tee online but I thought it was so precious with  the camo backpack...

... and  these shoes SLAY ME!!!  They'll look great with jeans once the weather cools down as well!

The shorts in the pic below are hard to see (shoot!) but they're a super lightweight (almost linen feeling) material in a pull-on style that is SO CUTE with the eyelet top.

Knowing my own boys and their friends and their propensity for all-things-athletic-attire I grabbed a couple of  these shirts and  these shorts along with  a more mature looking backpack and  basketball shoes.  My boys both have a few of these shirts and they wash and dry like a dream!

The last backpack was a bit larger than the previous ones and I included two pairs of shorts, a couple of shirts (how CUTE is that tie front one?!?!) and jeggings.

I LOVE the fruit print on the shorts!

Last, but not least - I was on my way out when I saw these JoJo Siwa high tops and threw 3 pairs in my cart because OH MY WORD!!!

It made me smile thinking about how EXCITED and confident they'd make a little girl heading off to school and what a fun surprise they'd be for someone shopping the pantry.  When I got them home Griffin literally SQUEALED and claimed the job of picking which pantry location we'd leave them at :)

I mean - Walmart is ROCKING it for back-to-school!!!  Look at all that goodness!!!

We loaded the backpacks up, wrote a few little "Happy Back to School" notes and headed to the free pantry locations....

If you're in the market for back-to-school attire for your own kids or others make Walmart (either online of in-store!) your first stop because the selection and prices seriously can't be beat.

Happy Thursday, friends!!!

PS - Thank you so much to Walmart for partnering with me on this post.  All of the clothes were purchased by me and have been donated to our local Little Free Pantries.  Commissions made from the affiliate links in this post will go toward purchasing food and toiletry items to keep the pantries stocked.

  1. How sweet! Our schools are just getting their directives and in our system, and it is a mix and there is a choice. It will not be the same for now, but I encourage my kids to have good attitudes so that their kids do.

    1. Yes! We CAN do it - regardless of what it is! It's also going to be as good as we think it is - so if we have a great attitude it should be a great year!

    1. Yes! My kids have never gone without and it's been a great experience as a family to get to see firsthand that there are people IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD who come to the pantries to get food for their families.
