Father's Day 2020

We had such a great day celebrating Dave yesterday.  It started off with sausage balls and a slow morning which was perfect and then in the afternoon Dave and my dad went golfing and Luke and Griffin wanted to tag along.

Mason opted out of golfing and told me he wanted to set the table "all special" and so he and I brainstormed and then got to work.   When he and I work together it's very much "if you give a mouse a cookie" :)   His original plan was to use hot wheels cars and make a "race car" table but when we went to the craft closet to look for supplies he saw the dinosaur wrapping paper.  He decided on a dinosaur theme since we had lots of plants and dinosaur toys and as I was wrapping the presents he decided to cut out some and use them on the plates...

... the next thing we knew we had written some little dinosaur jokes and had the laminator out :)

They turned out so cute and we were cracking up at how the clear lamination made it look
like the speech bubbles were really floating.

Look how good he did!!!

He picked out our most "prehistoric" houseplants and then arranged them all with his dinosaur figurines and rocks.  He brought in a few HUGE rocks (that he borrowed from some of our landscape edging) and was outside gathering smaller rocks when I remembered that I had a package of "break your own geodes" that I bought for Easter baskets and didn't end up using....

I had made  a cookie cake earlier in the day and he decided to use two of his laminated dinosaurs as toppers by taping them to skewers.  SO FUN!!!

Mason even added a few touches to the console table....

I mean.  SO CUTE.

When Dave, Luke and Griffin got home from the golf course he was BESIDE HIMSELF with excitement to show them everything...

... and then my parents came over and we all ate!  My dad and Dave both love lasagna so I made a HUMONGOUS one (as well as a 9x9 for my dad to take home - hahaha) and if you're looking for a great lasagna recipe you can check out my mom's recipe  HERE.

After dinner the kids showed Dave their cards...

He opened his presents... new puzzles!!! Puzzles are one of Dave's FAVORITE things and we have done all of ours, all of our friends who we trade with and we were in need of a few new ones.  I found some online at a small shop in West Texas and he was so excited!

After dinner we broke into the geodes (the patio is being resurfaced this week so we made the most of it)...

... played some football and just hung out.

We are SO BLESSED to have Dave as the leader of our house and we had the best day celebrating him!

HAPPY MONDAY, friends!!!
