Three Things

- HUNDRED GRAND CLUB -
Luke has three INCREDIBLE teachers this year and his English/Reading teacher has done an amazing job of getting the kids excited about reading.  In the Fall she had a Fantasy Reading League and this quarter she created the "Hundred Grand Club" where kids get admitted into the club once they've read 100,000 words.  Our school uses the Accelerated Reader program and once they pass a test on a book it gives them the word count and that's how they're calculating it.  Luke is an official member of the club and is on his way to "Half a Million" status.  It's been super motivating for their grade and is just a cute idea.

- WWI DIORAMA -
Luke and one of his friends have been doing a lot of reading/research about wars and battles and they are working on a BIG WWI diorama at the moment.  There are blueprints and Legos and diagrams and they're ALL ABOUT IT.

- FLAG FOOTBALL -
Luke's grade plays flag football pretty much every day at recess and they are OBSESSED.  Luke loves playing with his friends and has really gotten into watching football on TV but we still can't convince him to play on a rec team.

- BASKETBALL -
Mason decided to play basketball this Winter and it's been so fun seeing him play.  He's going to do a skills camp over Christmas break and we pretty much have to drag him in from the driveway in the evenings.

- BELIEVER -
I thought that this might be the year that Mason started asking questions about Santa but y'all... HE BELIEVES HARD CORE!!!  It helps that most of his friends still believe A LOT but he 100% fully believes in the elf, Santa... all of it and we're just over here treasuring it!

- MOOSE -
Last year Mason's friends started calling him "May May" (there was May May, Jay Jay and BB Gun but for whatever reason May May just "stuck") and then this Fall he got the nickname "Moose" from his football coaches.  Again... it's just stuck.  I feel like we're always calling him May May or Moose and I don't think I've heard any of his friends call him Mason all year :)

- PLAY KITCHEN -
The single item on Griffin's Christmas list this year is a play kitchen.  Y'all.  We had a super cute play kitchen that we got rid of about 2 years ago because nobody really played with it and it took up so much space.  She's written "play kitchen" on her list to Santa, told a Santa that we saw that it was ALLLL that she wanted and has taken what feels like any opportunity she can to talk about "the play kitchen she's getting for Christmas.  We've told her that we haven't "approved" a play kitchen with Santa because she doesn't have space for it but her little heart just isn't convinced it's not happening.  Spoiler alert - it's not happening.

- PAPER SNOWFLAKES -
Griffin is loving all things Christmas - the baking, the decorating, the books... all of it.  But the thing that I think she might be loving the very most is making paper snowflakes :)  Mason showed her how to make them and she is CONSTANTLY making them, taping them up and decorating every door in our house with them.

- EXPERIMENTS -
Griffin has a sink area attached to her bedroom and she has decided that she really likes doing "experiments" up there.... from mixing hand soaps to coloring on paper and then getting it wet in her sink... I love that she's being inquisitive AND trying to clean it up but LORD HELP ME if I have to buy another magic eraser :)  hahaha

- A&E -
I have been OBSESSED with all A&E TV.
Born in Prison?  Watched it.
Night Watch?  Watched.
LIVE PD? Can't.  Get.  Enough.

- BUSY SEASON -
Dave is smack dab in the middle of one of his busiest times of the year.  Regular restaurant business, weddings, holiday parties, etc.  He has been working CONSTANTLY and while he is so not a complainer I know he's counting down the days until December 26.

- MARKER THIEF -
Jack Bauer has several little "quirks" and one of them is that he steals any kind of marker.  He leaves stuffed animals, toys, socks, etc. completely alone BUT if there is a marker on the ground he's taking it and guarding it with his life in his dog bed.  He doesn't discriminate... he'll take a Sharpie, a Crayola, a Mr. Sketch - he loves them all.

Happy Tuesday, friends!!!

    1. When we got rid of the play kitchen a few years ago we kept all of the play food - and while she DOES play with it it's not even all that often. But YES! I love the idea of inviting her into the real kitchen more often to help! I've even been looking at an easy bake oven for her birthday :)

  10. Love your updates. So excited to see someone I "know" has my love of LivePd. My dog and I usually watch it. My husband has no interest. LOL. My young adult children that live in a different state get the texts from me about crazy stuff happening on there. Message me anytime to chat about craziness happening on LivePd. LOL

    1. I think she's going to be super excited about the gifts she's getting BUT if she's still talking about a play kitchen after Christmas we may have to find one for her birthday :)

  13. There is something called a “pop over kitchen” that goes on a chair! She might like that and it doesn’t take up space at all!

  14. LOVE the new family photos, and extremely jealous of Griffin’s long hair. I hate spending money on magic erasers. Randomly found these on Amazon this summer: 20 for $8.95. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CYTW58Y/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apip_uvWMdwidYHYvO
