Weekend Top 10

Friday was one of my most favorite days of the year.  I went with a group of 8th graders to Grace Bridge in Celina and we spent a few hours sorting clothes that will go to support people in need.  We untagged and sorted almost 4 palettes of donated clothing and getting to serve alongside my students is such an awesome experience.

Saturday morning we were up and bundled bright and early for the MandaStrong 5K.  Our volunteer post was the first water station and my assistant and I brought our best playlist and cheered our hearts out as friends, family and Mandastrong supporters came by.

We had a little bit of time before the runners got started and Griffin enjoyed her hot chocolate by the water...

And when friends joined us later on in the morning these cuties got to head out with one of the medics on a golf cart ride.

All three of my boys ran the 5K and while I knew Mason was a good runner I didn't realize what a natural he was...

He ended up running the 5K in 30 minutes and was in 5th place for the under 19 category.  The four who beat him were all over 15 including these two awesome MCA seniors who I taught in 7th and 8th grades.   The young man on the left is the son of our favorite first grade teacher and he won the whole event with an 18 minute 5K.  Mason is ready to start running with them on the regular! ;)

We got home in time for some dancing "cheek to cheek"...

... and using all the bottle brush trees to make a "shopkins forest"

Luke constructed a crazy pulley/flight system for a dinosaur toy out of  these toys.

We got out  the Osmos...

Sunday morning we were pumped about sweater weather!

And in the afternoon I ran a few errands and swung through Anthropologie...

... the only thing better than regular Anthro is CHRISTMAS ANTHRO!!!

I went to a baby shower...

... and then home where Dave and I attempted to get us all organized for a busy week.  Grandparents day, teachers luncheons, class parties, etc., etc., etc.  We're ready!

I hope y'all had a great weekend and are prepped and ready for the week ;)

HAPPY MONDAY!

  3. Sign that boy up for track club this summer! That's amazing endurance at his age! We are on the other side of the metro from you and our oldest son started summer track 3 years ago when he had just turned 7. He's a sprinter though. He would never want to do a 5k. Ever. But he's made it to state all 3 summers in different events and medalled 2 out of 3 of those summers. One summer we didn't make the long trek to the state meet or he may have medalled all 3 years. It's a hot time in the summer to be running but it's fun at the same time.
