With some majorly chilly temperatures this week we've been lighting the fire at night and I've started to pack up some of the Fall decor to get ready for CHRISTMAS! All that to say, we've been feeling festive at our house and I thought I'd share my Christmas playlist with y'all.
You should be able to play the playlist directly below...
... or you can find me on Spotify and follow along there :) It's pretty varied and I think has something for everyone... "Go Tell It On The Mountain" has been a favorite around our house for YEARS and if you've been following here for a while you might remember the year that baby Griffin danced to this song NON-STOP.
And just to keep the festive mood going I thought I'd add some of our FAVORITE Christmas JAMMIES to go along with the JAMS above :) #cheesy #iknow
I'd love to know what your favorite Christmas song is and/or what song you hate :) I am NOT a fan of "Mary, Did You Know" and I know people have very strong opinions about that song. Also not a fan of Silver Bells and when I was little my Granny would come to visit and make me play it for her over and over while she sat next to me on the piano bench and sang - hahaha - I'd offer other songs but it was ALWAYS Silver Bells :)
Happy Wednesday, friends!!!
PS - this post contained affiliate links - thank you so much for reading and supporting my blog!
Merry Christmas, Darling off of the Carpenter's Christmas Portrait is my very favorite :) . I also love when Ella Fitzgerald or James Tayor sing Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI also just realized that it sounds like I was born in 1945 and not 1981 and I'm okay with that. Hahahahahaha! #imsuchanoldsoul
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas song is, O Holy Night
ReplyDeleteAnd my least favorite is I want a hippopotamus for Christmas and Dominic the Donkey
My husband is anti Last Christmas by any artist!! I love all the carols but Andy Williams makes my day.
ReplyDeleteIt came upon a midnight clear and have yourself a merry little Christmas, both by Frank Sinatra. LOVE them
ReplyDeleteI can't STAND "The Christmas Song" (chestnuts roasting on an open fire...) lol. And I hate "Santa Baby" almost as much. My very favorite Christmas song is "I Heard The Bells on Christmas Day". And now I can't wait to go start listening!
ReplyDeleteI cannot stand any modern Christmas song, especially the Mariah Carey one. I’m a good old pre 1970, even better if it’s 40’s and 50’s traditional Christmas. Buble is fine because off his style of music. Basically I adore anything with the old big band jazzy feel.
ReplyDeleteBRain fart!? Blonde moment!? Mom brain??? I opened this blog fully expecting to see recipes for Christmas jams in cute little mason jars 😂😂😂

Thanks for sharing. I honestly bought Gwen Stefani's Christmas CD last year and really enjoyed it. I have never really listened to her music but it was on repeat. Christmas Eve and When I Was A Little Girl were favorites.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your playlist. I have struggled to find a good one on Spotify and this one looks like it will be so good. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSo have you ever heard "Same Old Lang Syne" by Dan Fogelberg??? It's the worst, but I can't quit it. I drive my family crazy with it during the holiday!!!
ReplyDeleteMy absolute favorite is "O Holy Night" sung by just about anybody. It's the memory of my maternal grandma that makes it so special, and I usually cry the first time I hear it every year. My mom, daughter and I also love the Carpenters Christmas Portrait CD and I've lost mine this year....so Pandora it is! LOL
ReplyDeleteHave you heard of Straight No Chaser? They're a male a cappella group that sings a lot of covers and they have three Christmas albums. Some of their songs are traditional and others are super fun/silly. Our favorites are their version of the 12 Days of Christmas and The Christmas Can Can. I think your kids would get a kick out of them.
ReplyDeleteI love the Pentatonix Christmas albums. I also love Matt Redman's These Christmas Lights, and Chris Tomlin's Christmas album as well. Natalie Grant's is great, as is Francesca Batistelli's. This is my favorite time of year!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter asked for Christmas songs in the car ride to school this morning!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed the busy town drawings you shared-- we printed the Halloween ones twice! Any chance you might have time for a few Christmas/ winter sketches? ;)
Ok, this was a new song to me when I moved to NY, but it is HILARIOUS and my toddler LOVES it - anyone else heard of Dominick the Donkey?! If not, give it a listen and let me know what you think. Make sure to listen to the old versions of it for the full effect. I have fun imagining the Italian kids running around Little Italy and Brooklyn singing this song in the 50s :)
ReplyDeleteOur family's favorite "fun" Christmas song is Big Bad Voodoo Daddy's cover of Mr. Heat Miser. It is so much fun to listen to and all the horns are great! Weezer also did a Christmas album with a lot of the favorites; The First Noel, O Holy Night, We Wish You A Merry Christmas, Silent Night and Hark! the Herald Angels Sing and we love it too. It breaks up the traditional a bit. Our Christmas Mix has everything from The Brian Setzer Orchestra (Sleigh Ride) to Leonard Berstein, New York Philharmonic (Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy) to John Denver and the Muppets (Twelve Days of Christmas). We're eclectic over here.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I COMPLETELY agree with you on "Mary Did You Know"! I just can't with that one!! Have you heard of the Irish folk worship band called Rend Collective? Their Christmas songs are so wonderful to listen to!

Ugh, I hate Silver Bells! O Holy Night is a fave, as is Baby it's Cold Outside!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE LOVE Christmas music of all types but especially the old standards sung by Ray Conniff and Nat King Cole. I also think Mary Did You Know is the most depressing song ever. A good rendition of O Hoy Night has made me cry though. Two more recent favorites to check out: Colbie Callat's holiday album and This Cold December Night by Michael Buble.
ReplyDeleteI love all of the traditional Christmas carols from my childhood and really most Christmas music. My favorite newer one is "That's Christmas to Me" by Pentatonix. And I listen to Michael Buble on repeat!
ReplyDeleteI can't stand the Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas time song. My favorite Christmas albums are the ones by Amy Grant.
ReplyDeleteThis is great!! Thanks for sharing! I tend to play Michael Bublé's Christmas album or pandora station 24/7 (it never gets old!), but it may be fun to change it up!
ReplyDeleteWhat Christmas song do I hate? Christmas Shoes. It’s the worst. Why on earth would someone choose to write a Christmas song about a sick, dying mother and her poor, impoverished child? No, just no. I love Do You Hear What I Hear?, Carol of the Bells, The Christmas Song, pretty much all the classics. I have the Casting Crowns album from a few years ago and love it. But I really love the old classics. My mom had a Christmas RECORD that she would pull out and play at Christmas. Hearing those songs with the old pops and cracks of a vinyl record just makes Christmas feel Christmasy. (This also makes me sound very old...I was born in 1982! Lol)
ReplyDeleteThe Christmas music list is great but I saw the header to this blog and legit thought you were posting jam recipes, and I was pretty excited!
