Fudgsicles, y'all. I just can't stop. They're so stinkin' good.
Mid-morning snack? Fudgsicle
Pool-time treat? Fudgsicle
Bedtime indulgence? Fudgsicle
Can't Stop. Won't Stop.
Griffin starting school has me feeling #allthefeels
"Someday they'll all be at school with you" has always felt so far away and now it's here and I just can't believe it.
I SWEAR that I took these pictures yesterday...
Instead of almost exactly four years ago. Somebody hold me!!!
I'm loving some quiet time in the afternoon with a good book and a little piece of Texas sheet cake :)
Wearing pizza onesies :)
Also... let's talk about how that is an adult sized onesie that isn't completely swallowing him up! He's a giant!!!
Having to wake up on time! I definitely sleep in during the summer (and am known to take a nap in the afternoon, too!) and am dreading the early alarm clock next month.
Mason is my kid who LOVES to nap. He napped every day during Kindergarten last year and will often fall asleep in the afternoons at home. He sleeps the latest and is usually the first one asleep at night. This year he will have NO NAPS at school and I'm kind of dreading seeing how that plays out in the evenings at home. Hopefully he'll handle it all in stride!
My new classroom!!! I have some fun plans for my new space that apparently involve llamas :) I was shopping for fabrics for my bulletin boards and didn't even realize how many involved llamas until I got home. I mean - nothing says Pre-Algebra like a llama, right??? :)
The MandaStrong Foundation is hosting a Kendra Gives Back party this Thursday at the Allen, TX location and 20% of the proceeds will go straight to the foundation and to helping other mothers battling cancer. If you can't make it out to the event you can call the store and mention the party (I believe they will ship!) and shop for a wonderful cause. Think Christmas gifts!!!
I'm almost embarrassed to admit this but I am watching Boy Band and totally loving it. I was working on some school things on the computer on Monday decided to try it out and I'm so glad I did. The music is fun and I'm a sucker for the back stories.
I'm also way too invested in Big Brother but I CAN'T STAND CODY AND JESSICA!!!
This is how I feel about them...
A whole lot of whining. ;) I adore my children and love spending summers at home with them but GOOD LORD THE WHINING! They are great 95% of the time but I feel like when one starts whining the other two pick up on it and start too just for fun - like they're trying to see who can make me lose it the fastest. This isn't an all-day thing but it usually isolated to the 4:30 - 6:00 p.m timeframe... you know... right when I'm trying to get dinner made, the doorbell is ringing, my phone is blowing up and my patience is at it's greatest (except not) ;)
Anything lightweight that doesn't make me feel like I'm suffocating and/or melting. I've been wearing a lot of loose linen along with my pool coverups and am relishing my comfy pj days before heading back to work.
It will either go one of two ways... I will attempt to do #allthethings that I still haven't accomplished on my summer to-do-list and will find myself painting our bedroom at 2 a.m. OR I will do absolutely nothing except lounge in the pool and drink Diet Coke (and eat fudgsicles).
Heading back to school!!! I know I'm about to sound like a weirdo but I LOOOOOOVE the beginning of the school year! I love the fresh pencils, the organized classrooms, the clean lesson plan books and all the excitement. And the first day pictures aren't bad!
This sweet little side table is on it's way to our house and I can't wait!!! It's under $85 (normally $200 and it has free shipping!) and I'm crossing my fingers it's as great in person as it is online.
This is an easy one... Gilmore Girls! I watched it for the first time when Luke was a newborn and I've lost track of how many times I've watched it all the way through.
A close second is Parenthood. I've watched it all the way through three times I think and every time I bawl my eyes out because I feel like I'm a Braverman.
Dave and I have also binge watched Prison Break (one time when Luke was a baby we were all dressed and ready for church and ended up skipping church so we could finish a season - not our proudest moment but the original Prison Break was SO GOOD!), LOST (which was a favorite until the last season), 24 (OMG! SEASON ONE!!!) and The Good Wife. I watched the entire first season of Kimmy Schmidt in one night/morning and got Dave hooked and he and I finished the second season in a couple of nights - SO FUNNY! We've also rewatched all of The Office, Parks and Rec and New Girl. Obviously we have super sophisticated taste :)
Happy HAPPY Wednesday, friends!!!
PS - This post contained an affiliate link... thank you so much for supporting my blog!
You should choose option b...Diet Coke by the pool all weekend!
ReplyDeleteAll signs point to relaxing :)
DeleteI just love how real you are in your posts! It's so refreshing!
ReplyDeleteI just have to say that I am nowhere near excited for school starting as you are! haha I just have one and a half more weeks left until I go back, but summer has been my favorite so far!
Also, I literally cannot binge watch anymore shows this summer because I'm going to go absolutely crazy (they tend to consume my life haha) but Kimmy Schmidt is one of my ALL TIME favorite shows. Titus is incomparable.
Have a great Wednesday! :)
God bless Titus! :)
DeleteAnd I go back next Thursday/Friday... then have Monday off and then it's back in full swing. I'm excited now... but my guess is that by day 3 the novelty will have worn off, the exhaustion will have set in and I'll be counting the days down until Labor Day :)
Prison break is so good! The newer episodes this year were actually enjoyable too. I just love Linc and Michael!
ReplyDeleteWe watched them and thought they were okay - but the first time around was awesome!
DeleteWill you be sharing your new classroom? I am also an 8th grade math teacher and would love some new ideas for my classroom and beginning of year activities!
ReplyDeleteOf course!!! I've been planning my first few days this week and am excited to share!
DeleteWhy am I so excited to see your classroom and all of that lama print??? Because I am!
ReplyDeleteGirl - you can bring me Starbucks and hangout in my classroom ANY DAY ;) hahaha
DeleteI LOVE the start of school too!!! Can't wait to see the new classroom....and I vote lounge by the pool this weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm adding your vote to the "doing nothing" column :)
DeleteI watched Parenthood as school was wrapping up this year. I think I watched the entire show in 2 weeks. IT.WAS.AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteYESSSSS!!!! Did you bawl your eyes out at the end? I cried the cry where like no sound comes out for a bit and then once I started sobbing I couldn't stop. The last couple of episodes KILLED ME!!! I love every single character on that show!
DeleteI had my first baby in October and while on maternity leave, I watched Gilmore Girls for the first time too! One of my favorite shows ever!
ReplyDeleteYES!!! Such a great one!
DeleteThe comment about skipping church to work such prison break has me cracking up! So relatable! My husband and I have watched many of the same shows-- we are hooked on "Ozark" right now.
ReplyDeleteNot our proudest moment :) But the show sucks you in!!! I've never heard of Ozark but am going to look it up ASAP!
DeleteHaha you just keep it so real. Love that. Also, those last 4 shows and Gilmore Girls are all my favs. Binged an embarrassing number of times.
ReplyDeleteRight?!?! Love your taste in TV :)
DeleteSchool starts tomorrow for us and while I'm a bit sad I'm hoping for less whining. And that Gilmore Girls shirt needs to get in my closet!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.lettinginthelightblog.com/
I LOVE Parenthood!!! We have two and a half weeks until Elle starts Kindergarten and Enzo starts preschool. I'm not sure I can handle it. I'm not sure which one I'm more excited and stressed about either. So. Much. To. Do. Not enough time to do it all! I think I'm going to give up on our summer bucket list (or extend it until october) and just try to have some fun and get our stuff together. And watch Parenthood again. Because now that you've reminded me about it, I'm going to have to watch it. I loved it!
ReplyDeleteYES! Priority number one - relax and enjoy, priority number two - watch Parenthood ;)
DeleteCan you share where you got the cute fabric? I am being moved to 8th grade this year after being at the elementary level and need some ideas for my classroom(I don't think the 8th graders will like my kiddish decorations I have now). I would love to see yours when it is done!
ReplyDeleteSure! I picked it up at my local Joanns
DeleteAmen to the whining! My 5 year old starts it first thing in the morning! She is also starting school this year, and I wondered if you could do a post or give some ideas on quick breakfasts you do for your kids during the school year. I'm not a morning person, so I'm dreading all of the earliness and need to quick ideas!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much - Heather G.
Great idea!!! Adding school-day breakfasts to my list. Thanks!!
DeleteMy daughter and I love us some boy band!! It is sooooo cheesey and sooooo bad but we cannot stop watching.
ReplyDeleteWho do y'all like? I like the beat box kid, the rapping violin kid and the kid who came from singing gospel. (not that I'm THAT invested or anything #coverseyes)
DeleteI need to watch the Good Wife soon! I love it and get on a kick, but then I forget about it.
ReplyDeleteThe end got a little bit slow for us - but the first few seasons were awesome
DeleteGahhhh that Llama fabric! Please share!!
ReplyDeleteOf course! Joanns!
Deleteyour blog brings me so much joy.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! That's the absolute SWEETEST! I'm so so so glad!
DeleteThank you so much for reading! :)
I always look forward to reading your blog with my morning coffee. Love that Luke and Lorelei shirt! Would you share where you found it?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for reading, Kristy! I ordered it from Bow and Drape :)
DeleteHi Andrea, love your blog. Read it from Seattle daily. Where do you get the barrettes that GG always wear. My granddaughter has thick, long curly hair just like GG's and would love to get her some in lots of different colors.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for reading, Cyndi! I get them from Ryan and Wren - they're the best!
DeleteThe llamas are precious, but so are you in that black dress and gold wedges!! Adorable. You totally have me almost pulling the trigger on those wedges, they are so cute and the fact that you say they're comfy? Win-win. Enjoy your last days of summer vaca!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kate!!! I have to stop myself from wearing the dress because it's SO DANG HOT HERE and the dress is nice and cool and I swear the wedges are so so so comfy!!!
DeleteI think its the teacher in us - the beginning of the school year, planning the classroom decor and getting everything ready was always SO fun, I agree! I am excited for my kids too since we have a kindergartener again this year. Everything is new and exciting for her and its fun to be excited with her (even though I will miss her like crazy)! Love peaking into your life. Just love you lady! xoxo ERIN
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Erin! Kinder is so much fun!!! I think that's how I'm feeling with Griffin this year too... there's just something so fun about the new shoes and backpacks and supplies.
DeleteI love my clean organized classroom at the beginning of the year....then, about fall break, I think, what happened? :). My pets have woke me up early this week, so I know I'm not ready for the 5:15 a.m. alarm going off!!!!!! I am sitting here on the sofa thinking I should probably begin cleaning out closets, but this time next week I will be back to teaching, so why not just sit a bit longer! Have a great year! ;)
ReplyDeleteYES!!! But the beginning of the year is full of so much promise :) hahaha And your closet comment is cracking me up because about a month ago I purged a TON of stuff from the kids closets and it's all piled up in my office right now. PRESSURE IS ON!
DeleteI so agree with your tv choices! This fall Matt whatever his last name is, Logan from GGs and Cary from the good wife will star in a new show called the resident! So excited.
ReplyDeleteWHAT?!?! I need to make sure my DVR is set - LOVE HIM!
DeleteI love how real and relatable you are. That's hard to find on blogs these days!
ReplyDeleteI thought the "witching hour" ended when my kids were babies- hahaha- nope!! I think it's worse now that they're older! I love my kids dearly but dinner prep time makes me insane.
Thanks so much, Katie!!! I thought the same thing about the "witching hour" and I feel like it's almost worse now! The other thing that drives me crazy is that they can be playing quietly and contently until the EXACT MINUTE I get on the phone and then all hell breaks loose!
DeleteIt's like kids can sniff out an adult phone call even if you are across the house and up the stairs. So frustrating, but I can relate (Mine are 2.5, 1.5, and 3 months)! Love your blog. *thinking* about heading to Vail before Labor Day and your posts gave me so many suggestions. Leadville sounds awesome.
DeleteLike your new blog style :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jennifer! I'm really liking it as well!
DeleteI'm on round 2 of Gilmore Girls and love it just as much! I want to live in Stars Hollow! I have started Parenthood but need to keep watching! I loved Parks & Rec and The Office. Leslie Knope is my hero. Here's a fun nerd fact about me: I have 2 Leslie Knope t-shirts and if I have to do something not so fun (like have surgery) I wear one of my shirts to channel my inner Leslie and give myself courage. #nerdalert
ReplyDeleteI think Gilmore Girls gets better every time! Dave has a Pawnee shirt and I lost my Lil' Sebastian magnet in our move and am still kind of devastated :) Love that the shirts give you courage! She's a total boss so I can see why ;)
DeleteWho knew the "witching hour" would continue for years ...? We're in the same boat in our house every afternoon and it's usually made worse as I'm trying to pick up the house (from the day's worth of playing/ tornados/ snacks outside of the kitchen where they should have stayed) so my husband doesn't walk in and turn around and walk back out. Ahhh! Thanks for letting me vent. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, girl. I feel ya!!! The witching hour is REAL!!!
DeleteHahaha that first day of school pic is so cute with Jack Bauer looking out the window int he background!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! I love that part of the pic too! :)
DeleteOh my gosh. Fudgecicles...YES. My husband and I are obsessed with those right now. LLAMAS are my favorite. I have always found llamas hysterical. My roomie in college made me a book of pictures of llamas for when I needed a good laugh. Gilmore girls is also on repeat at my house. I couldn't tell you how many times I have seen it either. Also, Parenthood is definitely a favorite! From one fellow teacher to another, I LOVE the beginning of school too. Enjoy your last few weeks of summer!!
ReplyDeleteIt's ALWAYS a good time for a fudgsicle! and I'm laughing so hard about the llama book - that's amazing!!!
DeleteI love your answer to what you are doing this weekend! I always have ambitions to get more stuff done and then end up drinking more wine and relaxing haha Happy Summer!
ReplyDeleteAmanda @ Cupcake N Dreams
Best laid plans! :) oh well... there's always next weekend!
DeleteGirl, Parenthood was INCREDIBLE. Hubs and I binged it last year and we literally watched the entire six seasons in like two months. It is the only show that has ever come remotely close to topping Friends for me. SO GOOD. We're watching Bloodline now and GIRRRRL just go ahead and skip out on doing all the things this weekend and just watch that instead! Almost every episode ends in a cliffhanger so it's nearly impossible to stop watching. B and I have been staying up waaaay past our bedtime these last two weeks because we cannot stop!
ReplyDeleteI think I MAY have started Bloodline and kind of lost interest... we'll definitely start it again! Thanks for the recommendation!
DeleteTotally off topic, but the front table that you just added by the fig leaf tree, where did you get the glass lamp that is on it? That is exactly what I am looking for!
ReplyDeleteHomegoods! (which I realize is super unhelpful! SORRY!)
DeleteI searched "fillable glass lamp" and I think I may have found one just like it!
Deletehttp://www.homedepot.com/p/DSI-Fillable-20-25-in-Clear-Glass-Table-Lamp-with-Linen-Shade-16493/205703391
You are awesome!!! Ordered it! I love it! Thanks again!
DeleteWe have VERY similar TV taste! Try Friday Night Lights - I promise you won't be disappointed!
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to post more about your table when you get it....we just moved and I need some new tables! Enjoy the rest of your summer!
ReplyDeleteyour sweet puppy looking out the window as the boys go off to school is precious!
ReplyDeleteAn experienced mama and grandma told me that when your kiddos start to whine, tell them that you're sorry, but your ears can't hear whining. If they start doing in ignore them. They'll remember that you can hear whining and suck it up buttercup. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou'll enjoy Chesapeake shores then. My daughter and I working our way through season 1 ready fir season two on Netflix in August.
