Happy Tuesday, Friends!!!
Friday was our first OFFICIAL day of summer and after spending the morning in my classroom packing up and organizing things for the "big move" later this summer the kids and I spent as much time as possible in the pool.
After an afternoon in the water and sun all three of them crashed while I got dinner ready...
.. and then it was time for me to head to MCA Graduation!
Graduation was loooooong this year and the gym was crazy hot - but it's one of my favorite events every year and I wouldn't miss it for the world. It's so neat to get to go and listen to kids that sat in my classroom give heartfelt shoutouts to their parents and teachers, get commissioned to West Point, give eloquent and meaningful speeches, receive scholarships and walk across the stage to receive their diploma. I cry every year. ;) When you teach middle school you don't always get to see the "finished product" and it's always great to see kids cross the finish line as mature and successful students.
Saturday morning the kids and I ran errands and got Luke ready to head to the lake with my parents.
After more pool time and crashing early again we called it a night.
Sunday morning we proudly wore our Mandastrong shirts and purple to celebrate Manda's birthday. There were TONS of shirts at church and I loved seeing everyone remembering her on such a special day.
After spending some sweet time with Manda's family after church we grabbed some lunch and headed home for naps.
After naps I loaded up Mason and Griffin and we headed to the Smiles Charity event at Adriatica. Every year the event raises money and provides a home to a wounded veteran. They've built 10 homes and this year the proceeds went to renovate a veteran's home to make it wheelchair accessible.
Since Luke was still at the lake Mason insisted on bringing this bear in his place :)
That's more like it :)
Dave was working the party we were attending so the kids and I shared a big plate of bbq...
... and settled in for the evening.
YAY for running into sweet friends!!!
As the sun went down Andy Grammer came on stage which was super fun because we LOVE his music and my kids knew a lot of the songs he played.
This is when Mason heard "his song" being played :)
As if the night wasn't fun enough already it finished off with fireworks! We didn't get home until almost 11 and we had the best time!
Monday it was just me, Mason and Griffin again and we spent the whole day in the pool... pretty much only taking a break for lunch.
Luke arrived home from the lake with two less teeth than he left with!!! AAAAHHHH!!!!!
He had an awesome couple of days with my parents fishing...
... playing solitaire in the hammock in the rain...
... and exploring.
After a couple of errands and a laid back dinner we reveled in not having school or work Tuesday morning and enjoyed movie night as a family.
I think that the best part of the weekend was knowing that we didn't have anywhere to be the day after :)
Hope y'all had a wonderful holiday weekend!
