Family Fiesta 2017

With all three kids having birthdays over the course of a little over two weeks we ran into a dilemma when it came to birthday parties.  The first year we were able to do a party for all three kids which worked great - but after that it got hard to figure out how we were going to invite grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. to three different birthday parties over the course of a couple of weeks.  We decided to throw a "family fiesta" and invite both sides of our family over and celebrate all three kids at one time and after the first year we knew it was a tradition that would be sticking around.

We had everyone over this past Sunday night and had a great time celebrating all our April babies.

The past couple of years I've made enchiladas with rice and beans as sides and this year decided to simplify and do a nacho bar.  We browned a TON of meat, added in the taco seasoning and then kept it warm in the crock pot.  I put the cold toppings in bowls and left them covered in the fridge until party time and the beans I just warmed before everyone got there and I left queso on the stove.  SO EASY!!!

The chili pepper lights are a super simple festive touch.

These chips are THE BEST!!!  If you have a Market Street close by you need to pick up a bag on your next trip.

Drink station! :)  And the birthday chalkboard from last year never got cleaned before the move so I was able to use it again! WOO HOO!

Each of the kids wanted a different kind of cake so I obliged and got three smaller cakes instead of one large one.

Griffin requested pink strawberry cake with pink sprinkles..

Mason asked for chocolate with blueberries...

.... and Luke requested carrot.

I picked the cakes up at Market street, topped them with fun sparkler candles and called it a day.

Time for the party to start!!!  Uncle Stephen and Aunt Cynthia made a grand entrance with a giant inflatable unicorn for GG :)  Let the party begin!!!

Present time!  Everyone was so generous and thoughtful and while it was a bit chaotic it was so much fun watching them open gifts.

Yes.... that's a bow and arrow.  And yes... it's so much fun :)

Griffin's Elsa costume was getting tight and had taken a bit of a beating over the past couple of years, but Gram and Papa Mac got her a new one complete with Elsa braid!  #daymade

Mason showing Beau his remote control truck.

It might be a party if...

I was nervous about the sparkler candles indoors but they were so fun!

We couldn't NOT have them blow out candles so after we sang and did sparklers we lit little candles and let them blow them out and make wishes.

Chocolate cake with extra blueberries for the boy with icing on his forehead :)

We ended the night by testing out some gifts...

It was such a great night and a wonderful way to kick off birthday month!

    1. Hahaha! It's a definite perk - buying ALL the birthday presents and having all your babies age in a single month is a little hard to swallow though ;)

  10. My husband and daughter both have April birthdays. Kaitlyn will be 24, but I think a dual fiesta is just what we need to celebrate them both. Looks like your crew sure had fun! And the unicorn was perfect. Thanks for sharing all of the fun ideas. Only 37 more school days for this teacher! Have a great Tuesday.
