Best Queso EVER

The Super Bowl is this weekend and the ONLY reason I know that is because queso is coming.  I have an AMAZING queso recipe, but it's a little "heavy" and so I save it for Super Bowl and that's pretty much it. If you're going to eat queso you might as well go big, right???  If you're looking for a BIG queso recipe this one is for you.

I told y'all it was good!

Here's what you'll need...
- 32 oz Velveeta
- 1 block cream cheese
- 1 pound browned meat (I like half sausage, half ground beef)
- 1 can Rotel
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup

This is the point in the activity where you stop mentally adding up the calories ;)  Just go with it.

Step 1 - Cut up the Velveeta.  Pour everything except the meat into the crockpot.  Depending on when you're going to serve it set it to low or warm.  You're just trying to melt everything.  Once everything is melty (sometimes it doesn't look melted... but once you stir it it will!) add in the cooked meat, stir to combine and then heat through on low.  Serve warm.

I was making a double batch for a party last weekend and had a helper with the cheese :)  I highly recommend wearing a leo while making queso.

I turned mine on warm around 9 am and got home around noon at which point I stirred it, added in the meat and warmed through on low for about 30 mins before taking it to the party.  Since I was making a double batch I browned 1 pound of sausage with 1 pound of ground beef and then used that mixture. YUM!

And here's where I tried to take a pretty picture of it.  But y'all.... it's queso and looks don't matter.  ;)
It's what's on the inside that counts and what's on the inside is creamy cheesy goodness.

I have no intention of watching the game this weekend, but have every intention of doing this...

  4. Super bowl is the only day of the year I make queso. We always have a super bowl party (which is more about the food then the football) and the queso is always the first thing gone.

  8. That is our favorite queso as well! I made it at Christmastime when appetizers tend to serve as meals and it is just so delicious!

  9. Try the Queso Blanco Velveeta. It's so much better than the plain Velveeta.

I need to make your queso...I have never made queso before. I am a little weirded out about the cream of mushroom in there....but I trust you....you live in Texas...you know queso :) Thanks for the recipe!

  12. Brown a pound of sausage and drain. Add in two bricks of cream cheese and a can of Rotel. Sounds a lot like queso, but it's another yummy, spicy dip that my daughter taught me to make.

  13. This is my favorite recipe for queso! Food is the best part of Superbowl...especially now that the Cowboys are out :( One year I made these yummy Buffalo Chicken Crackers -
Add some chicken and buffalo sauce to a crock pot, shred it and add more sauce if needed. Lay the chicken on top of Ritz crackers (or any kind), bake it on 350 for just a few minutes to heat them up, and then drizzle Ranch dressing on each one! Mmmmm

  17. I made this tonight. SO good! My husband doesn't typically like queso (weird, I know but he's a good guy so we'll forgive him) but he LOVED it! I may have eaten WAY too much!

  18. I think we might have the same crockpot.. the silver one with the clasping lid.. does yours have a stir attachment that you can put on it to stir it? Just trying to make sure if it is the same one. So anyway, even though it has "warm", "low", and "hot" functions, I don't really feel like there is any difference in any of them..? Does yours do that? Like even on warm, it will burn queso to the sides! Such a pain to clean!!!

  19. We make that queso dip also! We watch a lot of football at our house, and it's always a hit.
