Weekend Recap - Twirly Edition

Friday morning started off with a little magic wand action :)

Bright and early on Saturday morning we headed to Playstreet Museum McKinney for the Matilda Jane event for Manda!

Playstreet Museum just opened a location in McKinney (right at Custer and Stonebridge if you're local!) and the sweet owner donated the space to us for the event which was AMAZING!!! If you've never been to Playstreet you need to check it out ASAP!

Here's a quick little video of our morning ;)

We had so much fun shopping, playing and talking.  Between the in person show and the online orders we were able to donate over $2500 to Manda - including a FABULOUS wardrobe for her sweet girl!

Thank you so much for the prayers, love and support for Manda and her family!

Life is HARD and sometimes it's fun to spend some time just chatting, eating donuts and looking at cute clothes :)

Best. Girlfriends. Ever.

Also, maybe the first time EVER I was the tallest one in a group pic!  YAY for big wedges! hahaha

So.... this is where our day got really interesting.  While we were at the party our house was being inspected.  We ran a couple of errands after the party and got home just as the inspection was ending.
We settled in and as I was making lunch my realtor called me to tell me that the inspector suspected we had a gas leak at our water heater.  I called the non-emergency number for the fire department, explained the situation and the dispatcher said they'd send someone out to look at it.  Next thing I know there are three firemen at my door and a firetruck parked in front of my house.

I was snapping a picture of the ruckus that was happening to send to my realtor (so she could assure the buyers that we were handling the situation. hahaha) and I happened to catch GG coming around the corner seeing the firemen for the first time :)  I about DIED when I saw the picture! hahaha

They couldn't find a leak and so the kids sat down for lunch.  A couple of minutes later they were telling us we had to leave the house because they detected a TEENY tiny bit of gas leaking from where the water heater connected to the gas line.   They would pick up a reading and then it would go away... that's how minimal it was.   Crazy!

As I was sitting out in the driveway with the kids I called my mom to come hang out with us and was so glad that she was there to help keep me sane.  I had no idea how long we were going to have to hang out in the driveway and we couldn't go back in for shoes, chalk or our lunch. hahahaha

A couple of minutes later they had shut the gas off to our house and we were able to go back in and we called the gas company to see if they could come and fix it before we called a plumber.

Y'all.  I'm sure all firemen are fabulous - but the McKinney FD who came to our house were BEYOND!  Before they left they offered to take my wide-eyed kids for a little tour of the truck, gave them stickers and answered 7000 questions. :)

And they even held Mason's hand.  I die.

"Hey, mom!  Be sure to grab a picture of them by the tires, okay?"
"Yes, sir!"

I love a fireman who appreciates a good photo op. :) hahaha

Just when we thought the whole thing was over the asked the kids if they wanted to ring the bell.  I mean!

Later that afternoon the gas company was able to come out, tighten the valve and turn our gas back on.  We are so thankful that it wasn't anything more serious!

The boys went to Gibi and Haha's house to ride scooters and Griffin and I headed to Weirs to finalize our furniture selections.  Griffin was so good!!!  Taking a toddler to a furniture store sounds like a recipe for disaster, but she was AWESOME!  She tagged right along with me and the salesman and played on her kindle and snacked on popcorn while we finalized everything.

The sweet floor manager, Cheryl, even took her to pick out candy from their general store.  Griffin wants to go back to furniture shop ASAP :)

On Friday I was talking about mixing and matching brown and black and after reading all of your comments I totally jumped on board.  I ditched the original TV console I had picked out and went with this one instead...

... and I think it's going to look great with the kitchen table I ordered from National Rustic.

I ordered this table...

But in this finish...

It's going to have 5 chairs and a bench and I can't wait for all the memories we're going to create around it!  (Plus I mixed and matched chairs! EEEK!!!)

Another piece I'm really excited about is this console table and coordinating desk I got the for office.  Since all of our office furniture is currently built I was excited to pick out something new.

World Market was doing a big 30% off sale this weekend (it ends TODAY!!!) and so I was able to grab a few other pieces as well.

I got this rug for the playroom upstairs and I absolutely LOVE all of the colors!  Our leather couch will go up there and I picked up a few pillows to pull out some of the colors in the rug.

I also grabbed this mirror for above the fireplace (so black island, kitchen table, mirror and media console! LOVE!)...

... these towels for the master bath...

... these lamps for the office...

... and this table to use as a sofa table behind the sectional.  Doesn't it look just like Restoration Hardware?

After a crazy busy day we wrapped up the evening with some Mario Kart ;)

Sunday morning I was up before 6:00 to start packing.  Since the inspection was over I was ready to rip off the bandaid and dive headfirst into full-on packing.  This is my "I'm heading to Home Depot again face". hahaha

I packed up the entire office (which was a huge job!) and worked on taking everything off the walls including my beloved Sid Dickens tiles.

My trusty assistant!

I got them all packed up and managed to pack up all of our beach towels at the same time!

While I was busy packing, this girl was doing this...

At the end of the day, I finished the office, packed up several cabinets from the kitchen, the hall closet, hall bath and several boxes of decor.

It was a crazy and productive weekend and I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around the fact that we really only have two weekends left in this house!

Happy Monday, friends!  Hoping that your weekend was way more relaxing than mine ;)

    2. Andrea, I know that you started this blog as a means of scrap booking, so to speak, the joys of your children's childhood. I wonder if these negative comments will detract from the joy that they may one day have when they go back to read and see the comments. As a blogger mom, I'm sure that you struggle with that. Perhaps the bigger message that you are showing your kiddos is to take the good with the bad :-)

    3. Oh Anonymous - sadly, here you are AGAIN. Clearly she said Griffin was coming 'around the corner'(out of another room I assume since there appears to be another doorway).
Your continual attempts at senseless hostility on this blog only highlights your own bigotry. I bet you're not much different in real life.
      Good grief, go troll elsewhere.

    4. Liz and Anonymous #2 ;) Thanks, girls! People LOOOOOVE to make assumptions which is totally fine. They can assume all they want. Not sure why they insist on coming her to post their conjecture - but oh, well.

  28. I seriously don't get it? This anonymous person is seriously nuts. I'm guessing that this person is incredibly envious of you Andrea. I have three girls (ages 1 1/2-6) and am lucky to stay at home with them... And I'm in awe of you and all that you do while working full time... At a job that you seem to truly love and that truly makes a different in other kids lives. And you also take the time to make life fun for your kids. You have what seems like an amazing support system with your parents so close and an amazing set of girlfriends. And the biggest thing that I love is that You love God. I'm annoyed with "anonymous" and their jealous and simply mean comments. Who chooses to live their life to just be that mean person?! It's sad and pathetic. Keep living your life Andrea... You are awesome and you and your husband work hard for all that you have! And "anonymous" go get your own life and stop criticizing Andrea's.

    1. Thanks, Ciara!!! I always chuckle because I've been told often, "you put yourself out there... so you have to be prepared to be judged and scrutinized based on what you post"... well, it goes both ways. I take little to no credence to the nasty "anonymous" comments because based on what they post online they're petty, rude and not the kind of people whose opinions I value.

      Thanks for your kind words!!!
