Well, today is closing day! We're signing the papers on our new house and we are PUMPED!!! Except that then the work starts :) hahaha
Earlier this week while I was looking through pictures for my post about "home" I came across some of my FAVORITE photos ever.
A friend of mine from high school came and took these on a Saturday morning in October of 2012. I was pregnant with Griffin and we just went about our normal business while Shannon snapped away. I will FOREVER treasure these pictures and am determined to get similar ones taken in our new house this Fall.
This week I decided to take an extra hour I had and knock out teacher gifts for the boys teachers. I stopped in to Anthropologie with the intent of buying them each one of my FAVORITE candles. But I got sucked into their kitchenwares and ended up leaving with one of these BEAUTIFUL dish towels and sets of measuring spoons for each of them.
I'm not sure how I'm going to wrap them (all my craft and wrapping stuff is packed up, but I'm seeing brown craft paper and bakers twine along with some fresh flowers. We'll see :) If it looks cute wrapped I'll share next week.
We ordered a table from National Rustic and they are so awesome they finished our table ahead of schedule! The only problem was that delivery day was Tuesday... and it had to be delivered to our current house. hahaha
OMG!!! Isn't it perfect!!! Their tables are totally custom and they can do chairs, benches, etc. all to order. I ordered 2 sets of the x-back chairs (one of the chairs is going to to at the built in desk in the kitchen) and got a different set of chairs to go on the ends. I thought it would be fun to mix it up :) The bench wasn't my first choice aesthetically, BUT it's going to be great for our everyday life as well as entertaining.
We couldn't let the first night with our new table pass by without breaking it in so we celebrated with cake... at the table... amongst the boxes :)
I am SO excited for the life that's going to happen at this table over the years!
Evystree released a NEW style of hoodie this week... it's similar to my FAVORITE, the Sophie, but is so lightweight and airy for summer. The fabric is tissue-y and soft and it's the perfect "throw on top" layer for when you're going to be in AC and might need something on your arms.
I paired mine with this top and, I have a feeling this shirt will be on repeat this summer. It's light and airy and flowy without being too flowy. ;)
The v-neck isn't too deep and the pattern is a great scale. The shirt also comes in a few other patterns and colors that are pretty great as well. I found the top to run true to size... although if you have a larger bust you may want to size up so that the buttons don't pull.
My straw tote is from Lands End years ago, but here are a few cute options...
And since I'm talking about clothing on repeat... we need to talk about this flamingo dress from Poppy Whitaker! This style of dress is my favorite one she's made - it's twirly and comfy and the length is PERFECTION. Griffin is in a 3T and I see her getting lots of wear out of it this summer and again next Spring.
Her appliques just keep getting better and better!
My next FAVORITE is super random, but I watched both of these videos again this week and they are so cute!
I love me some Kristin Chenowith and if you haven't heard her sing "Taylor the Latte Boy" before you should check this out ;)
And then when you have a minute, Taylor's rebuttal is my FAVORITE.
We have a new FAVORITE book in our house called "Rules of the House".
"Ian always follows the rules. His sister, Jenny, breaks them all the time - especially "don't pinch." So Ian is thrilled when the house where his family is vacationing posts a tidy list of rules. But when Jenny breaks them all, the house itself decides it's time for payback. The rug, the stove, and the bathtub are hungry for rulebreaker soup, and they've found the perfect ingredient: Jenny!
Now Ian is faced with a thorny question: What if saving your sister means breaking the rules?
It's a hilarious tale of sibling rivalry, moral complexity and disgruntled monsters, perfect for sharing with your own favorite rulebreakers."
The illustrations are precious and my kids loved the storyline.
Disney-Hyperion sent my kids this book, and is providing a prize pack for one of my readers including the book, a special toothbrush and a $25 Toys R' Us gift card for your little rule follower!
Next up is a FAVORITE new addition to my arm party - this JORD watch! It haven't worn a watch in forever and a half, but the unique design and fun color is helping my up my accessory game ;)
It's lightweight, great quality and I have loved mixing it in with bracelets as well as wearing it solo.
The pink is right up my alley and the wood tone is light and perfect for summer.
Luke's favorite part??? Being able to see the mechanics on the back. Isn't that cool? The only problem is that he wants to take it apart :)
They have a great selection of mens and women's watches and I think a wood watch would be a really unique gift for Father's Day. Probably not the pink :) hahaha
Also, you can click HERE to enter to win a $75 JORD watch credit - and even if you don't win the big prize, everyone who enters will get a $20 coupon!
Next up is the cutest zoo EVER. Luke's class has been working on a partner research project that culminated in a "talking zoo". They're taking their show on the road and presenting it at the Senior Center tomorrow, but yesterday I got to go to the dress rehearsal and it was PRECIOUS! The tigers were my FAVORITE ;)
I mean!!! Luke is quite the little performer :)
This weekend is going to be nuts. We're attempting to move over some things this afternoon after closing and then the movers come tomorrow morning at 7 am.... and we don't just have movers to coordinate, but painters, furniture delivery, internet installation, cable installation, alarm system installers, etc. Mason graduates from Prek on Monday and exams start on Tuesday! The countdown to summer is ON and we are so excited!
Happy Friday, Friends!
Shoutout to JORD for providing me with the GORGEOUS watch to review, Evys Tree for always being wonderful to collaborate with and to Poppy Whitaker for sending Griffin the flamingo dress I know she'll wear all summer long. And thank you to Disney-Hyperion for partnering with me on the Rules of the House giveaway. Last, this post contained affiliate links, which means that if you clicked on an item and made a purchase I may receive a small commission. THANK YOU!!!

ReplyDeleteYou DO have a crazy weekend!!! Your table is great -- I paired ours with a bench several years ago and my husband wasn't sure/sold on the idea but it really is the best with a big bunch and gives a nice sightline on one side of the table. Can't wait to see your new place :)
ReplyDeleteBy-the-by, you have been encouraging me over the years that I *can* work (I'm a teacher too, but unlike you I always knew I wanted to be one - ha!) and still be a "good mom". I've watched you shuffle it all and still be able to put your family first. Thank you for the little tips you give and being real about how much work it is to juggle both. I have a job interview today at a private school (I've always taught in public education) and the e-mail said, "this will just be a casual conversation to get to know who you are...don't dress up or prepare anything". What does THAT mean?!? As I was struggling for the "right" thing to wear, my husband pulls a top out of my closet that I bought a couple of years ago on a recommendation from YOU. So. . .here I go today, on a meet-and-greet, "casual", in something that I purchased because of you, being inspired by you to at least *try* a private school setting! All the best to you this weekend -- seems like things have gone very smoothly for you thus far. Don't worry/fret about the recital -- I'm sure there will be many more in the future!!
That book look adorable!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the movie! Can't wait to see the new place!!
