Mason West turns five on Saturday and I can't believe it! It was just yesterday that he was wearing preemie sleepers and making the cutest newborn grunts you've ever heard!
This year has been a BIG one for Mason! He's changing from toddler to "big boy" and it is so much fun to watch. Mason has been a HOOT from day one. He talks CONSTANTLY, wants to play with people instead of toys and has amazing comedic timing.
His moods are more consistent (which is convenient since Griffin is in PRIME tantrum season) and he's astoundingly generous. He'll share his snacks, toys and recently took all his money out of his wallet to bring to school for the building campaign. He doesn't ever hesitate to share with his siblings and friends and it makes us so proud!
Mason LOVES his sleep :) He's the first one asleep during nap time at school and they have to wake him up when it's over. He will ask to go to bed at night when he's tired and he sleeps the latest in the mornings. He also loves to eat and his favorites are Pizza Friday (duh!) and pasta... but not with red sauce. He eats a Honey Crisp apple almost every day and rarely finishes his breakfast. He tolerates ice cream, but given his choice of dessert, would pick a donut.
Mason is a passive aggressive artist and prayer sayer :) If he and Luke are having a spat, he'll draw a beautiful picture... leaving Luke out of the scene. Or if the squabble happens before dinner, he'll say a lovely prayer, saying thanks for every member of his family, except for Luke. He also misuses the word "fair" and it makes me giggle every time. For example, "Mommy!!!! It's FAIR!!! Luke got three pretzels and I only got two!" or "Mommy, it's FAIR that Luke gets to go to the birthday party and I don't!" Luke corrects his mistake, but I secretly hope that he makes it forever :)
His favorite pastimes are anything art related, throwing the football and playing WITH Luke. Luke is so patient and kind - and when those boys play sweetly they play SOOOOOOOOO sweetly. Mason knows everybody's name. Everybody. Teachers, older students, staff... he knows them all.
Quality time is still his love language - and a quick trip to Kroger with JUST him is enough to make his day. He loves to hold hands while we're out and enjoys feeling like a "big kid" when you let him help.
Mason has brought the party to our family since the day he was born. He's spunky and FULL of life and we are so blessed by the fun and joy he brings into our house.
Happy (almost) 5th Birthday, Mason West McAnally West! (as he calls himself)
