Thankful for Cozy

I packed away all of our Halloween decorations this weekend and was thiiiiiiiiiiis close to getting Christmas out.  BUT, I was tired and pulling out the one little box of  Thanksgiving decorations looked a whole lot better than the dozens of boxes packed full of Christmas.  ;)

The colors in our house lend themselves perfectly to the warm, cozy Fall vibe and I'm really enjoying the simpler decor right now.

The giant bear was courtesy of Mason, but I'm a pillow-a-holic and get my fix at HomeGoods :)

The throw below I picked up at HomeGoods as well and it is EVERYTHING I love about Fall.

Dave and I joke that this little pumpkin on the dresser is the "pumpkin that started it all".  In July of 2005 Dave and I bought our first house and that Fall I remember buying this cute little pumpkin at Hobby Lobby, putting it on my kitchen counter and feeling so festive.  The holiday decorating spurred off from there :) hahaha

I picked up this little tree at Pier1 last Fall and every night the boys each tell me something that they're thankful for, I write it on a little leaf and then we hang it on the tree.

My original intention was to put this Thankful sign on the mantle, but it wasn't working the way I anticipated, but I'm kind of loving it on the buffet.

The vintage botanical print I found at a yardsale years and years ago.

Do you spy Jack Bauer?? :)

A second vine and branches sign and the M is from Son of Whale.

The kids table is low key, the turkey is from Pier 1 and HERE are this years Thanksgiving plates.

Luke made this plate when he was 2.5 and it makes me want to CRY!!!  It's one of my most favorite things EVER!

The turkey is iron and HEAVY!

I'm excited to get Christmas out - but I am REALLY enjoying all things Thankful this year.  It's warm, it's cozy, it's casual and it's all about food! What's not to love :)

Is Christmas up at your house?  Do you wait until after Thanksgiving?  DO TELL!

Happy Wednesday, girls!

  4. I wait until the weekend after Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas. As Nordstrom says, we like our holidays one at a time around here.

  5. I love all your Thanksgiving decor-especially the thankful tree and the festive pillows! Thanksgiving decorations are some of my all-time favorites so they stay up until the day after Thanksgiving when I get everything our youngest's birthday (11/30). Then when his birthday is over I get decorations out for our oldest's birthday (12/2) along with our Christmas because he LOVES Christmas decorations and wants them up for his bday : ) I've got a system down now-ha! Thanks for sharing all your sweet decorations!

  12. Thanksgiving is up at our house too- like you I only have a few boxes (well, maybe 8 if you count some "Fall" boxes that are out now too!) I made my husband coordinate calendars with me and we've decided that the day before T-giving is when our Christmas will go up this year. He doesn't like Christmas to go up too early but it was then or after Dec 5 and that's too late for me! So we compromised. :)

  14. I love the Thanksgiving decor, kind of like the calm before the storm:) We host Thanksgiving for about 20 people so I keep the Christmas decor away until the day after. But there may or may not be a pencil tree in the dining room as we speak. Just lights, no decorations:).

  17. I love how cozy your house looks! I will leave Thanksgiving decor out until the day after. It would seem odd eating Thanksgiving dinner with the Christmas tree up. Lol. And I would be all confused; do I set the table with the fall plates or the snowman plates? Ha-ha! I am already listening to Christmas music, though!

  18. Love all of your Thanksgiving décor! I used to wait until the day after Thanksgiving to put up my Christmas decorations, but it just takes so darn long to put them all up that I've started putting them up a little earlier so I have time to get everything up and enjoy it for a while. It's a lot of work! With that said, I put up our Christmas mantle décor this past weekend, and then I will continue to put up a few more things each day, and then we will wait until the day after Thanksgiving to get our Christmas tree. :o)

  19. Cozy and so clean! How do you keep it so spotless with three little ones?

  20. I love your tasteful and understated decorations! You do a fabulous job decorating for all seasons. I decorate for fall in early October, so I end up with a few Halloween things still around but that's ok with me. They are subtle. Christmas explodes the day after Thanksgiving (I do not shop on Black Friday, I decorate!). Thank you for sharing your ideas.

  21. When Thanksgiving is earlier then I wait until the day after to decorate for Christmas but on years like this when it is so late, I decorate for Christmas the weekend before Thanksgiving. It is way to pretty and too much work to just leave it up for 3 weeks (I undecorate Christmas immediately)! I have had pumpkins and all things fall out since the last week of September. Luckily we don't have Thanksgiving dinner at my house so not having fall decor up that day is fine. And the kids love looking at the tree while watching the Macy's parade!

  22. Your decor is always so festive and fun - and so cozy! I love that you have things out for Thanksgiving and you make me wish I had some Thanksgiving/Fall decor out. It just didn't happen this year. Right now, I'm thinking we'll decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving, we usually travel and Thanksgiving is so late this year. Plus, it gets dark crazy early here so it makes our house warm and cozy to have the tree up for as long as we can.

  23. LOVING your home! I skipped over fall after halloween and went straight to Christmas decor because I couldn't find any really that I liked but I am loving your ideas for next year, especially the tree!

  25. I adore that tree idea! How sweet to hear about the things they are thankful for. Sometimes I love the calm before the storm (aka the thanksgiving decor before the christmas decor). Still love Christmas decor though. ;) Thanks for sharing an inside look!
