Weekend Recap - First Soccer Game Edition

Our weekend started bright and early on Friday with Blue Day in Pre-K.  Mason was excited to be in head to toe blue and everyone was in great spirits despite being at school way early so I could tutor. hahaha

On our way in we ran into one of my sweet families and their awesome dog Tank.  He and Mason shared a moment :)

And then my blue superhero was off!

Later in the morning there was a knock at my door and in walked a couple of blue bandits!!!

PreK is working on blue and B and they blessed me (and several other staff members) with balloons, bubbles and blueberry muffins.

Griffin rocked some red, white and blue and after school we had Friday night pizza night and all just sort of relaxed and exhaled.

Saturday morning Griffin and I headed to the dance studio bright and early.

The girls did half ballet and then put on their tap shoes!  They started working on Jingle Bells and it was PRECIOUS!!!

I quickly changed her out of her dance gear and we were off to the store to pick up snacks and then head to the soccer field for Luke's first game of the season.

It was a GORGEOUS morning and was actually chilly in the shade.

When we signed Luke up to play, Dave had no intention of coaching.  But when no one else stepped up to coach, Dave took on the job again and I'm so glad because he's seriously the best.

Luke is number 8 this season and I was so proud of how much the whole team has improved.

The team is part of our city league, but is made up entirely of MCA first graders.  There is a LOT of giggling and goofing around with this big group of friends.

Meanwhile, Mason was having zero fun with the girls :)

And Griffin was getting no attention from Gibi and Papa Mac :)

My favorite part of every game is the post game prayer.  Listening to the kids pray for each other and the other team is seriously the absolute sweetest.

After the game Dave headed into work and I planned while the kids played.

Mason made soup (seriously... I browned the sausage and he put everything in the crock pot and it was done!)  He was so proud of himself!

After nap time I resisted getting out our Halloween decorations and settled for Griffin trying on this sweet witch hat instead. :)

The kids played outside, took baths and we had  an epic play dough competition.

Sunday morning Griffin wanted to wear her "princess skirt" to church and so of course I obliged.

We attempted a picture with mommy, but this was literally the best we got :)  I have no clue what any of us are doing. hahaha

This swing top is the perfect transition to Fall shirt, so expect to see a lot of it!

After church Luke found a cheetoh that he insisted looked JUST like a T-Rex.

So we had to pretend like it was eating him :)

After lunch I found myself in my happy place... casually strolling the aisles of Home Goods (yes, sipping on a Capri Sun) with no children and no goal in mind.  Just browsing.  By myself.

I got home in time to take Luke to Carter's birthday party, which he has informed me was the best party of his whole entire life.  That's a video game trailer in case you were wondering!  How awesome is that?!?!?!

I dropped of Luke at the party, Mason at AWANAS and then got home just as Griffin was waking up from her nap.  Dave switched her tutu out for some shorts and she was ready to cheer on the Cowboys!

I unpacked my HomeGoods finds and had fun rearranging a few things in my entryway.  Here it was before...

And here it is now!  I wanted a set of matching lamps and found great ones with burlap shades.

I'm still on a mission to find a great floor lamp for over by the TV.

Dave picked Luke up from the party and GG couldn't pass up a piece of pizza...

And then she was hamming it up as they waited to pick up pizzas for a football watching party at our house.

Dave had a bunch of guys over to eat and watch the Cowboys play and the kids had so much fun running around with all the guys.

It was a packed weekend, but only really a preview of what we have coming up this Fall. Lots of food, family, fun and football!  Bring it :)

Don't forget that tomorrow is Show and Tell Tuesday - Who's Coming To Dinner where we're going to share who we would want to have dinner with if we could invite ANYONE!

Happy Monday, Friends!!!

  4. I told Dave this, so he probably already told you.....but Luke walked up to me yesterday after finally emerging from the truck after 1.5 of the best hours of his life :) and said, "Miss Sheaffer, how much did this video game truck cost? I need to talk to my mom about it."
    Sorry bout that.

    1. He hadn't told me about that! But I'm not surprised at all. Next thing I know he's going to have figured out how many baseboards he needs to wipe down and weeds he needs to pull to pay for it himself :) Thanks so much for hosting such a fun party!
