Weekend Recap: SUNSHINE edition!

Happy Monday, Friends!  I'm assuming that this is the last week of school for most of you - so hang in there!!!  You're almost done!  A few more school lunches and folder signatures until summer :)

Friday morning the kids and I played with rocket balloons before the littles headed off for their last day at Miss Lisa's house.  If you haven't played with rocket balloons before you totally need to check them out.  They're these giant balloons that you blog up with a pump and then release them and they fly around the house all crazy.  If my kids are in need of a good giggle, we get out the rocket balloons.

Every morning Griffin has to take care of her baby before she can head out the door.  Typically this means a song or two, a wipedown and some rocking.  I could eat her with a spoon. :)

On Friday morning I woke up giddy because it was chalkboard day.  Our photographer, Kelly, was hosting a couples wedding shower for her sister-in-law on the weekend and wanted her chalkboard decorated for the occasion.  I was flattered and excited and I couldn't wait to get my hands on her wall.  Blank canvas!

And done!

I went whimsical and fun and incorporated an IG hashtag, their wedding date and a cute saying as well as some strings of edison lights (which she was having strung up in the backyard).

I had so much fun getting to be creative on a large scale and now I really want a chalkboard wall in our house!

And while I was having fun being creative, Luke had a great time playing with Kelly's daughter.  When the wall was done we let the kids stick their toes in the pool, which apparently means your entire lower half in Luke-talk.

On the way home we stopped by Gibi's work to bring her a tea and some Sonic tots (because tots are the best!) and yes, this is the best picture of the two of them that I got.

The littles came home and Mason was both excited and upset that he had finished his last day at Miss Lisa's house.  He is so excited about Pre-K, but he is most definitely going to miss his friends and Miss Lisa.  GG will be going back starting in August so she'll be able to kiss his sweet little face every day when we pick G up.  We are BLESSED to have such a wonderful caretaker for our kids!

Griffin HEARTS sunnies :)

She also loves James from Sofia the First.

Friday night is pizza and bath night and this week was no exception.  It started raining Friday night and we snuggled up in our jammies and watched Despicable Me with popcorn.  #perfection

Saturday morning the rain continued and by the afternoon we started seeing tons of pictures just like the ones below.

This is the field and playground at MCA... several feet of water.

The creek behind the school overflowed and took out the fence ;(

And this is one of the holes on the golf course at the club where Dave works... that's not normally a lake!

Mason and I ventured out in the rain for our "Just Mason Donut Date".  Backwards shorts and spiderbear were a must.

Sprinkles and undivided attention from mom for the win!!!

Mason and I got home and Griffin and baby (and Dave) were outside to greet us :)

And then she saw a slug and I almost peed my pants I was laughing so hard at her reaction.

The rest of the afternoon was lazy.  I did this...

Jack Bauer did this...

... and Mason did this :)

Then it was time for Frozen and some sibling snuggles.

Wait.  Doesn't everyone wear a dragon hat to bed?!?!?!

Sunday morning we went to church and this happened... :)  #brothers

Our yard has been completely neglected with all of the rain the last month or so and so we got back out there Sunday afternoon to start cleaning everything up.  I put the littles down for a nap and when I walked through the kitchen I saw these two outside working.  I'm fairly certain Dave was working and Luke was talking :)

Luke was super proud of his bucket of weeds/ivy that he pulled!

After yardwork and naps we got ready for our Sunday School family picnic.  We've had to reschedule a couple of times due to the rain and moved locations at the last minute, but we sure looked cute!

The sun was shining and the water was FREEZING, but none of the kids seemed to care.

Scott is our Sunday school teacher and he and his wife Debra are the sweetest!  They come to all of our events and love on our kids... and hold them while they eat popsicles :)

These three always gravitate toward each other.  They all have birthdays within a span of about 6 weeks and all hang out at Miss Lisa's during the year.

It was such a beautiful night and a great way to end the weekend.

This week all three kiddos are home with me and we have nothing on the agenda except for pool time and lots of fun!

I'll be back tomorrow with something I can't wait to share!!!   It MAY be my new favorite room in our house :)

    1. It's been awful! We've been so lucky that it hasn't been worse in our immediate area - the devastation south and north of us has been heartbreaking! And yes... tomorrow is Show and Tell! :)

  8. I dyed over Mason's dinosaur hat while he was watching movies in your bed!!!! I'd love a chalkboard wall in our house, but the dust would drive me crazy, so I'm opting for one in our backyard instead!

  10. So much fun in this post! I can relate to the flooding. My parents live on the lake and we had to move them out so they wouldn't be trapped for a week. You still can't drive to their house. Ugh. It will be fun going back to get it all cleaned up later this week!

I love the slug pictures. I laughed so hard when I saw them on Instagram.

Also... once our house sells and we get a new one I am going to have a chalkboard wall. I wouldn't be upset if you came to Oklahoma to help a sister out. :)
