Jack Bauer - An Update

So we've had Jack Bauer for almost exactly two months now and I thought it was about time for an update!

In case you missed it - back in January a family that I know from school found Jack Bauer wandering in their neighborhood.  He was tiny and full of mange and fleas and weighed just under 2 lbs.  He was shaved and scraped and shampooed and declared healthy - and lucky!  It was FREEZING out and the vet he saw thought he'd been outside for several days.

I am happy to report that he had a check-up with our vet on Tuesday and he is growing and looks great!  He weighed in at a hefty 3.7 lbs and did great with his vaccinations and few other tests.

And ironically, we were matching :) hahahaha

When we first got JackBauer, he was shaved... but all his fur was white.  See pics below...

As the weeks have gone by, he started to get dark purplish looking blotches (and I thought that someone had held him too tight.... as they almost looked like bruises... but they didn't hurt him so we knew they weren't) and as his hair started coming back in he got spots!  They crack me up because they're a totally different hair texture and color.

JackBauer loves chasing golf balls, laying in our bed and (surprisingly) he LOVED the snow (as evidenced by the snow all over his face in the picture below).

He has an overbite (which is why his tongue sticks out - hahaha) and is most definitely a "mama's boy".

And it's such a shame that the kids don't pay him any attention at all :)

When he got him back in January, the vet that he was seen by said that he believed him to be between 8 and 10 weeks old, but our vet this week told us that he felt like he was about 14 weeks now.  Which means that he was about 4 or 5 weeks when we got him.

He does great in his crate at night and can also stays in there while we're working during the day.  Most afternoons Dave runs home to let him out, but if he can't he's been able to "hold it" until I get home around 4:30.

The kids argue over feeding him, taking him out and getting to hold him in the car.  And even though I know they all love him, JackBauer and Mason have developed a really sweet and special bond.  The first thing Mason does when he gets home is go get Jack Bauer and he prays for him before bed and snuggles with him every morning and every night.

We are absolutely IN LOVE with our sweet little pup and are so excited about lots of adventures with him in the years to come.  If you just can't get enough of Jack Bauer, be sure to check out his hashtag on Instagram (#jackbauermcanally).  And in case you missed it - I finally got a Facebook page for the blog!  You can connect with me on FB HERE.

Don't forget tomorrow is Friday Favorites!!!  Be sure to come back and link up (or check out all the links!)  Happy Thursday, friends!!!

  11. Bless you and your family for adopting one of God's beautiful creations. It is my belief that since your rescued Jack Bauer he will in turn rescue you in many ways. Please be sure that he is microchipped in case he gets out. Collars and tags are good but they can be removed; microchips are embedded under the skin and can be scanned by most vets. Bless you!

    1. For sure get him microchipped (if you haven't already). You just never know what might happen... :( Jack Bauer is so stinking adorable...he looks like a little stuffed animal! Love seeing another family as head-over-heels with their dog as we are with ours. :) :) They add so much joy and fun to life!

  16. Our pets were all homeless little things too before brought to us. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats which I feel is a lot but we love them all. However. People will start calling you whenever they find a stray to see if your heart and home can take another.....be prepared :) Your pup is so adorable and I love his petite little size.
