Griffin's "Hippie Cat" Party

Today I'm so excited to share the details of Griffin's fifth birthday party with y'all!  Party planning/decorating is one of my very favorite things to do and I had a BLAST putting this one together.  Several months ago I came across  a roll of wrapping paper with cats wearing flower crowns  on it and I fell in love. (I found the wrapping paper on Etsy originally and then found additional rolls on Zulily!)   She LOVES kitties and the print was whimsical and unique and so I decided to run with it (PS - Griffin's party requests included cats, pink and Playstreet... EASY!)

McKinley (our awesome babysitter!) works at Playstreet and surprised Griffin with the CUTEST birthday chalkboard!  (and she did it on the day after Prom on a day she wasn't working - we love you, McKinley!!!)

Okay - so the details....
- I made the balloon arch using this tutorial - I reused the balloon tape from the one I made a few weeks ago and used about 120 balloons (I think).  I used bright pink, "new pink" and lavender balloons from Party City and  these confetti balloons from Amazon.

I reused the $5 balloon arch tape thing and spent about $25 on balloons - for such a HUGE visual impact I feel like it's a steal.  And if I'm being honest I had such a fun time making the first one a few weeks ago I couldn't wait to do another :) The "Happy Birthday to You" sign belongs to Playstreet and was PERFECT with the colors!

Saturday morning I was picking up a few things at Trader Joe's and they had the SWEETEST little daisies out.  One thing led to another and the next thing I knew I was arranging flowers at 11 pm. ;)  (Sidenote - Trader Joe's is my FAVORITE place to buy flowers - I did all of these arrangements for $25!)

I made the cupcakes for Griffin's party using  this recipe and yes.... I piped the icing on using a bag with the corner cut off :)  I attempted to use a tip and all that jazz but just made a big mess so I went back to what I know. hahaha

To make the toppers I took a picture of the wrapping paper, isolated the cats, erased the background, put them onto a 4x6 size "canvas" in Photoshop and had them printed 1-hour at Walgreens.  Then I cut them out and taped them to toothpicks.  (That sounds a lot more complex than it really was!)

The cupcake stand, the floral cupcake wrappers and the galvanized trays are all Homegoods finds (I've had the stand and trays for a long time and use them often!)

After I shared a picture of the kitty wrapping paper on instagram one day someone let me know several weeks later that matching gift bags were available on  Zulily! I ordered a small and large set not really sure whatI was going to use them for and ended up just topping them with tissue and using them as decor.

I found these galvanized faux floral arrangements at Homegoods and loved how they took up a big portion of the length of the tables.

I cut two rolls of wrapping paper in half to create four "runners" that I laid out to cover the tables.  The plates I found at Target and I decided to use these instead of paper because we'll be able to reuse them for EVER.  My kids are always wanting to take a piece of toast in the car or have a sandwich outside while they play and these I won't have to worry about.

Y'all - HUUUUGE shoutout to  Barbara from Parnell's Pantry!  She made cookies to match the theme and they couldn't have been cuter ANNNND they were delicious!!!  She has some awesome recipes posted on  her site so be sure to check her out!

We kept drinks simple - bottled water and juice in a cooler.  I love a clear plastic cup with patterned straw - but think that they can be a hassle at kid's parties with a lot of kids (and yes... I've used my fair share of them. hahaha)

For favors we gave out the cookies as well as little bags with sidewalk chalk.  I used  these bags from Amazon and they were $8 for 100 bags AND they have a seal!  So awesome!  I grabbed this chalk on sale before Easter and Mason put four pieces in each bag and then I topped it with a 4x6 photo print I designed in Photoshop.

You can find  Griffin's pink kitty shoes HERE for under $40! and  her kitty ears were a $13 Amazon find as well!

This pretty much sums up every picture I took of her :) EXCITED!!!

We had a LOT of kids there and they had a blast running around and playing.  Griffin invited her class from school as well as some friends from church and cousins and we had a great turnout.

These two crack me up!

Cake time!

Discussing blowing out the candles :)

Luke serving cupcakes was cracking me up :)

It was such a great afternoon and the perfectly pink way to celebrate our favorite five-year old :)

I think/hope I covered everything, but if you have any questions just let me know in the comments!

Happy Tuesday, friends!
